Initially l wanted to send this airbed back! I hadn’t quite grasped the concept of filling it up and the first two nights it didn’t hold air.
However the next time l used it, it retained a lot of air much better. Definitely not going to return. It’s bang for buck for sure.
It’s low profile but easily thick enough to be super comfortable, you don’t need to be raised 4 feet off the ground for that! This is ideal for using either in the home or camping (but quite heavy so probably not in a rucksack).
The built-in foot pump has a bit of a method that you need to figure out by thinking about how to get air into the pump whilst not losing it when you press it into the bed. I found the best way to push with the balls of your feet and lift all the way off to let the air back in.
Really impressed, been using it for 2 weeks now on a road trip, I usually get through a couple of the 15 alternatives in a week or less. This is well worth the extra 10.
Great product, pump worked (you have to make sure the ball of your foot covers the hole at the pump site). Stayed up all night even with every child on the campsite deciding to clamber over it. Only issue, I over filled it as I assumed it would lose some air, which it didn’t so it was a bit too firm! Lesson learnt, inflate to just the right firmness and it’ll be fine!
Having read the reviews on this I followed some of the advice as the first time I inflated it I found it was going down within 12 hours. However don’t send it back without trying this. If you remove all bungs and re seat it will stay up a couple of nights with approx 25 stone on it which lets be fair is what you expect from an air bed.
The pump does its job and will get you out of a mess but I found myself using my hand as my foot didn’t seal enough. My advice would be use a powered pump when possible which it also has a bung for.
Overall good for the money and compact considering its inflated size.
I got this as a spare bed for extra visitors. It’s comfortable, easy to store and the motorised pump makes it very quick and easy to inflate/deflate without putting myself in A&E.
Brilliant air bed. Easy to pump up and also easy to flatten after use overnight. Highly recommended!!!… bonus being no extra pump needed as built in foot pump and also built in pillow. Very pleased I chose this.
Really comfortable. The in-built mini pillows made a huge difference (we forgot to bring some and they really saved the day). Didn’t have one creak in my neck / back / body all weekend long. Stayed pumped up all weekend. I will say we used a friend’s foot pump which was more powerful than ours, but even if we had to spend 10 mins pumping it, it would have been worth it because once it was pumped it stayed up! Massive props to Silentnight – this honestly did make music festival life that little bit more luxurious!
Holds its air, pumps up easy and the deflate is superb bit of help. The ‘posts’ are great in middle but missing from the edges so I would order a king as a minimum as 10cm each side are basically roll off areas
The idea of built in pump appealed to me. Although some reviewers seemed to have trouble with it, I found it fairly effective. It does take a bit of a knack to use it, but it’s really very easy and I could have it pumped up in a minute or two.
It’s comfortable to sleep on and I had no trouble with it deflating at all. Note that there’s an additional plug that has to be fitted. You’ll find it in the little bag that contains the patch.
It’s also very simple to deflate with the large plug on the end. Packing it away is a simple affair and no more waiting ages or wrestling with the mattress to get all the air out of it.
The built in pillow is a nice addition. It’s just high enough to take away the need to carry an extra pillow.
For the time I was away, this mattress served me well and I had only good nights of sleep leaving me ready for the ride the next day.
The bed itself is comfortable enough. I’ve read reviews saying it is wonderful, better than a proper mattress and so on. If this is better than your actual mattress then you need to buy a better mattress, but it isn’t a bad by any stretch of the imagination. You can alter how soft or firm it is (to a point) by how much you inflate it. I’ve found firmer is slightly better, less chance of sitting up and finding your bum on the floor, but preferences are personal. As an occasional bed I think it would be fine. I’d put people on it without feeling guilty about their backs in the morning. I’ve used it as a camping bed, where it is bigger and heavier than a normal bed roll but far, far comfier.
It is listed as a double but I’m not entirely convinced. I’m 6’3″ and my feet pass the end of it and I don’t think I’d get another me on there either. That said, I’m a bit of an outlier on the bell curve, it would probably fit two normal adults on there well enough. For a single sleeper it is rather spacious.
It packs down well, with the air exiting top and centre you can empty it and roll it up neatly very quickly and easily. I’ve also used the aforementioned pump to vacuum it down (seriously, cracking little gadget: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08696TW6R/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ). The material/plastic/rubber/whatever material it’s made of feels sturdy enough, and I haven’t woken up on the floor wondering where the air has gone yet either. It does smell plasticy/rubbery but then I suppose it is.
Four stars overall. It is easy enough to inflate, but easier still with an electric pump, it is absolutely comfortable enough to sleep soundly on and it is a doddle to put away too. Can’t grumble for the price I paid (25), and it’s actually dropped a couple of quid since I bought it too. I think I knocked a star off for that alone to be honest, nobody likes knowing they could have paid less for something…
