Got this for my ps5 as games today are memory consuming. And for this price it was an absolute bargain. Great write and download speeds and comes with it’s own heat sink. Had it for many months now and it works great. Easy set up too.
IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR INCREDABLE VALUE FOR MONEY AND GREAT PERFORMANCE I CAN MOST DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT. INSTALLED FOR SEVERAL MONTHA NOW AND PERFORMEN FAULTLESSLY. VERY EASY TO INSTALL
Bought this for PS5 add on. Read the reviews watched the videos and settled for this product. So easy to install. Had it fitted and running within 10 mins. Switched son PS5 and it fond itself and just followed on screen instructions. Blistering fast drive and couldn’t be happier. Highly recommend it.
Bought for ps5 and installed in 2 minutes. Super easy, ps5 recognised it straight away and formatted in seconds. 2.04 tb of space for this price is fantastic, if you need more ps5 storage why spend more?
Bought this for PS5 slotted in no problem PS5 found it straight away and within a min or two I was downloading games that I didn’t have room for before.
Happy days
In short this is a fantastic Gen4 NVMe SSD. The drive really shows its performance especially if you have a system capable of its full speed and the screenshots of CrystalDiskMark speak for themselves. It comes with a heatsink and also fits in a PS5 don’t skip past this.
I decided to reinstall my linux system into a new disk so I purchased one of these for my second M2 slot on my ASUS motherboard. It was as simple as putting it in the slot and plugging it in. I would say though that if you dont have a 2mm screw for securing the disk then I would purchase some M2 screws with this because it does not ship with a screw.
The SSD work perfectly in my PS5, and simple to install. When I moved my games into SSD, it completed very fast. The price is very competitive at this moment less than 100 pound.
I recently purchased the Silicon Power PCIe M.2 NVMe SSD 256GB Gen3x4, and I couldn’t be happier with my decision. This SSD has exceeded my expectations in terms of both speed and affordability.
The installation was a breeze, and the included instructions were clear and easy to follow. Within minutes, I had the drive up and running, ready to unleash its power.
In terms of performance, this SSD is an absolute beast. With read speeds of up to 2,100MB/s and write speeds of up to 1,200MB/s, it has significantly improved the overall responsiveness of my system. Boot times are lightning-fast, and applications load almost instantaneously.
I’ve also noticed a significant improvement in gaming performance. Games that used to have long loading times now load in the blink of an eye. This SSD has breathed new life into my gaming experience.
What’s even more impressive is the price point. For a 256GB NVMe SSD, the value is unbeatable. Silicon Power has managed to deliver high-end performance at a fraction of the cost of some other brands.
In terms of reliability, I haven’t encountered any issues so far. It’s been running flawlessly, and I hope it continues to do so.
Overall, the Silicon Power PCIe M.2 NVMe SSD 256GB Gen3x4 is a stellar product. It offers incredible speed, easy installation, and fantastic value for the price. If you’re looking to upgrade your storage without breaking the bank, I highly recommend giving this SSD a try. It’s a solid 5-star product!
I installed this m2 SSD in to my PS5. I thought it was a decent price. I’ve transferred my ps5 games to this SSD and the load times are just as quick as loading from the internal storage.
It’s only 2tb but that’s plenty for me.
Whether it will be as long lasting or reliable as a Samsung or WD SSD , time will tell
I’ve not found a better drive for 20 and I buy a lot of SSDs. Having installed over 20 of these drives I find them to be just as fast as many of the other better known brands, and so far I’ve not had any reliability issues.
Clean Windows installs are fast and without issue, considering this type of drive was more than double this price just 6 months ago I can’t imagine ever buying anything smaller again.
Great for the price and works as intended. Well made, as specified and pictured. Would buy again. Great drive with good speed that i run in my setup on the daily basis in use and no complaints yet.
Bought this to create an external hard drive. The pricing is very reasonable and the item is functioning well so far. The fact that it is Gen4 would make it more future proof than Gen3 even though the casing that I purchased separately is not able to fully utilise the speed of this item.
I have bought several of these for use in various computers throughout the family. I was a bit sceptical at the start because of the bargain price but now I wouldn’t buy anything else. I put one in my own main pc about 18 months ago. This is used for many hours each day and is rarely turned off. The SSD is still in fantastic shape with good performance in all tests. None of the others I have installed in other machines have failed or shown degraded performance. Buy with confidence and get an absolute bargain. UPDATE 29-05-2023
I have now bought about 6 of these for various machines and they perform brilliantly. I just ordered another 256gb one for the bargain of the year price of 14.98. This is fantastic value for a quality item.
This hasn’t been my first NVME PCIe drive but it is certainly not going to be the last of this brand that I choose.
I looked at other well known brands and models and then, with some hesitation, decided that this well sold model must have something going for it to be equally as capable with the extra cost.
So I placed my order, thankfully I was not wrong.
First thing that I must mention is that you must follow the link provided in the packaging to register for the full five years warranty, obviously that is important. You do get a confirmation email.
For me this is the second NVME drive that I have connected to my Z390 Master board, so I was aware of any implications that would mean. What I mean is first of all check if your board has the correct fitting and also if there are any restrictions placed on other slots or ports when fitting. I know for me it means that I lose two SATA ports, not an issue.
Also when you need to fit one of these on a desktop motherboard you might need to remove your GPU or perhaps a fan from your large CPU cooler, check and prepare first.
The fitting was very straight forward for me, even tho I did need to remove my 1080Ti GPU. Fitting it in place was done with caution and used the stand off and screw that came with the motherboard, the motherboard also provided a heatsink for me to use, with a removable cover to allow the heatsink to adhere to the NVME drive. I did mark down the fitting to only two stars, not the fault of the product but one of how all these types of drives can be a little challenging on a PC’s motherboard due to the positioning of the slots, not the fault of the product.
Putting it altogether and powering up the PC and the BIOS picked up the drive immediately and not further drivers were needed by Windows 10 x64, build 2004.
As you can see for the enclosed photo the performance seems great and being used as my Steam games drive is pretty amazing in terms of its responsiveness.
To be frank in every day use, not thinking benchmarks here, you would be pushed to notice any difference from a NVME drive to that of a traditional SSD, but you probably know that.
Overall I do very much recommend this drive, it is fast, as much so as the other well known branded ones, it is cheaper than others and offers a great warranty. What isn’t here to like..?
FWIW previously I had bought a 256GB Samsung NVME drive and use that as my boot drive. It is still fast and responsive, the transition from a SSD to the NVME was done using Macrium back up and restore software.
I do hope that this review has helped you.
Best wishes
Silicon Power are not a new fly by night company, they’ve been around for a number of years now.
All companies were new once, even WD, even Samsung.
We trust them with our data, why not SP?
And so I have.
MY Child’s 1 year old Win10 laptop had really bad boot times, into several minutes on a cold boot.
A bit of research showed the laptop should have a m.2 slot, so I took it apart and yep it did.
I was shopping around for a while, and bought the 256Gb version of this m.2 ssd when it was on a lightning deal for a little under 26.
A bargain I think.
Now this bit is about a laptop niggle; the laptop did not have an m.2 retaining screw for the riser. So, Acer, you go through the trouble of developing and adding the m.2 slot, include an install a riser, pop a pink bit of plastic on it to cover the screw hole (why?), but do not include a screw ! ? ! Say what ? And also, why ? It wouldn’t even cost you a penny to include it, in the riser, worried about it dislodging, why add the riser, you were not worried about that ! ?
So, you have to buy the screw, but cannot buy 1 or 2, no, you have to buy a pack, of 10. Like how / why would I want that many ? And whilst still niggling, why is it my pc motherboard (thanks ASRock, top notch, saved me 2p) is sold with the screws, but not a laptop?
So, screw(s) bought, laptop opened up, m.2 ssd added, screwed in and laptop all safely done up again, and it’s time.
Time to move all the stuff across, well, in part.
SP are new to me in the terms of data, so I copied windows across (50GB speedily done, but cannot recall how long), but all the User data, docs, images, vids, music etc, I have left on the h/drive. And I simply pointed Windows to the files on the old h/drive.
So it’s a split system, if you will.
Windows boots really fast, allowing you to start working almost immediately, definitely sub 10 seconds from a cold boot. And because I minimised the data read/write cycles, as user data is read/written to the h/drive, the m.2 ssd should not notice any degrading, show high levels of % wear any time soon. (as an example, my 2.5″ SSD shows as 85% available after 12 months of light 1/2 use (I have a twin win 10 / 7 system, each on separate ssd’s))
This seems like a good approach to me, as I feel the user data is ‘safe’, were the ssd to fail, as the h/drive is a removable, accessible medium, and can be extracted out with ease. Plus, worst case, could revert to the old h/drive.
Best of both worlds.
So it is still fast, some many months later. I have heard my child mention to others how fast it is, or have been asked how come the laptop is so quick.
It is fast, timings show it to be in-line with the advertised speeds.
A wake up from windows sleep, is instantaneous.
My pc has 2 m.2 slots, one is a WD, which I use for Windows 10, again linking to a h/drive, I also run Win 7 on an old 2.5″ SSD. Both look to the same h/drive for user data.
When Win7 is all done (a month or so away), it’ll be time to rethink.
Before that though, I’m thinking of using the 2nd m.2 slot on my pc for a gaming drive.
SP will be my first thought, just need to wait for a lightning deal.
No where near the write speed plastered all over the adds. It says “up to” . If we check the actual datasheet for the controler, we find that only the 1 Tb and 2 Tb meet these specs. Drive actually reads at 3,100 Mb and writes at 1, 100 Mb in crystaldiskmark software. In real life userbenchmark software the max read was 2, 100 Mbytes and the max write at 1,050 Mbytes.
CrystalDiskMark 6.0.2 x64 (C) 2007-2018 hiyohiyo
Sequential Read (Q= 32,T= 1) : 3043.049 MB/s
Sequential Write (Q= 32,T= 1) : 1047.641 MB/s
Test : 1024 MiB [C: 12.5% (29.8/238.1 GiB)] (x1) [Interval=30 sec]

OS : Windows 10 Professional [10.0 Build 17763] (x64)
Full spec of the Phison controller PS5012E12 from the Phison website says that only the 1 TB and 2 TB can write at the advertised speed. The spec for the 250 GB has the write speed at 1, 000 Mb, so in that respect it fully meets the specs. Just not the specs in the adds.
Still for a basic PC build it reads at the expected 3, 000 Mb speed and in real world heavy benching it has sustained 2100 Mb reads and 1000 Mb writes. Overall, this is still 8 to 10 times faster than a SATA 6 Gb ssd.
So minus one star because the speed tables are not published anywhere in the add.
Other than this and it’s a great bit of kit, with no problems to report.
