The machine requires a lot of assembly, though care taken to follow the instructions helps. Some instructions aren’t the clearest as there is no text, purely pictorial. However my delivery had a faulty laser module. After some daily communication with their support desk (far East somewhere, so fragmented), a replacement module was sent from their UK office and is working fine. Credit to the support team and a little patience paid off.
Included, free, software is basic, though works. May consider a paid upgrade on the software later.

This is my first laser device, chosen after a lot of online research.
From the first unboxing , I had a good feeling about this product – everything was packed snugly with no danger of damage in transit. The parts all felt well-made and precise, which is essential if the results are to be accurate and repeatable.
Assembly was straightforward, following the included instructions, but I’d also recommend looking at the excellent videos on the YouTube’s xTool Channel. I hit one small problem ( I hadn’t properly read the instruction) but a quick email to customer service got it sorted by the nest morning, Total assemblly time was around an hour and a half.

For first tryout I followed used Xtool Creative Space software and after some simple setup had it engraving and cutting within 15 minutes. As an engineer myself, I was blown away by the accuracy . After a few days trying some simple things to familiarise myself with the features I made a really nice finger jointed box for my son featuring a cut-out Crest of his favourite football team. I made this fron fron
3 mm plywood from a DIY chain store (totl cost less than 5) and the results wer amazing! The accuracy is so good that you can adjust the width of the finger to 0.1mm precision to get perfectly snug fitting joints. The engraved sections were crisp and consistent. Altogether the box took around a couple of days to get perfect (I did make a couple of mistakes on the way), but now that I have the files I think I could do another in less than half a day.
Since then I have made a number of projects (there are lots of patterns and videos on the interner), and all have come out really nicely.

To summarize, I think the D1 Pro Is an excellent Laser cutter/engraver – well manufactured, easily assembled and gives outstanding results. Plus great customer service if you hit a snag. Highly recommended.

    Notes;
    – I use my D1 Pro with the Air Assist and Honeycomb panel, which made a big difference by reducing any burn marks to almost zero.
    – I turned down the sensitivity of the flame detect as I got the occasional false alarm – probably caused by working in a garage in hot weather!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent quality, easy to use, and superb customer service

This product is robust and makes quality engraving on various materials look so easy. However caution, the framework is a self build and has some tricky parts. You must follow the instructions to the letter, else you could damage it before you’ve even gotten going.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersNot really a toy but I do love this laser! I do lots of crafts and I’m about to get married, I have a blade cutting machine but recently that’s been letting me down which is when I started to consider getting a laser. I’m so happy I did as it’s saved my wedding (almost literally as I was so stressed when my cutting machine had let me down there nearly wasn’t a wedding! ) I’d previously been against getting a laser as I was worried I’d accidentally laser my finger off or do some other damage, however this is virtually impossible as there are so many safety features such as alarms if you’re about to laser outside the range, there’s something called frame area where you can see the area the laser will cover which I love. My most loved feature though is being able to set the exact start point for the laser which is accurate to about a mm well as accurate as I need it to be. I’m now able to create so much more and now I can embark on many more crafting projects.

This laser is really a starter laser but it serves me very well and is excellent for the price. What I mean by starter laser is it is not as powerful so it can take a little longer to make items than the more powerful lasers and sometimes you need to do multiple passes, however it’s just right for what I need.

I’m now always looking for more ways to use the laser. Highly recommend this!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best toy I’ve ever bought!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersReally impressed by the quality of this laser and the free xtool software. I bought the 5w model and it’s great for engraving or cutting wood and most acrylic up to 3-4mm thick. Just note that diode lasers like this one will not cut clear, white, or blue acrylic.

Been toying with the idea of a laser cutter / engrave for a long time – Was originally going to spend big on a Glow Forge as I liked the neatness of the overall package, but the cost and feedback from forums put me off and I just kicked the idea down the road until a need arose and I started searching again – Long story short, this turned up yesterday, my 10 year old daughter and I had it assembled in about an hour, and once worked out a few things I have been cutting and engraving today with great results. Probably the 20% of Glow Forge capability I needed for 10% price – Very happy, and the machine is of much higher quality materials than I thought it would be – Time to go build some spring powered cars for the science project..

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersAbsolutely loving this engraver. Bought mainly for engraving so went with the 5W (also because it is much cheaper) and it is fantastic. Just like any engraver you need to experiment a little with the engrave and cutting settings to get the results you want with different surfaces. A friend of mine has the 10W version and although it cuts better the detail in engraving is better on the 5W. This will still cut wood comfortably just be prepared to have to make 5+ passes sometimes. (You can buy 10W, 20W and even a new 40W head from their website though so easy to upgrade in the future)

The xTool Creative Space needs paragraph of it’s own here. I used this first to get to grips with engraver first and planned to move onto using Lightburn later but the Xtool software is brilliant. Also they updated yesterday and added loads more features (the feature I wanted to use in lightburn) so going to stick with this.

Pricewise this is great for the quality of it. It is very sturdy and easy to assemble. (I got it on sale but would happily pay full price for it). You also get a pack of materials you play with so you can play as soon as you set it up.

My only negative would be the cable management. As the head moves the excess cable tended to move inward and has touched and moved the material I’m engraving. I did a little bit of playing around with cable ties and was easy to fix.

Received my d1 pro quickly with no issues. Followed the YouTube video to assemble managed to do it all by myself and was up and running quickly. Did some test pieces with the enclosed materials and have had no problems at all. Added some examples of some Christmas makes all made with the d1 pro. Definitely a great machine for hobbie makers

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersHonest review of D1pro

I’ve had this machine now for 8 months. I bought the machine with no prior knowledge of laser cutters but did my research and deemed the D1pro to be the best started module for a beginner such as myself without being too basic.
Since starting with the D1pro I am pleased to say I have more than made my money back with sales of items I have made.
The delivery was quick and easy from the supplier and I received my item within a couple of days.
It was a bit technical to put together but the instructions explained it all in great detail and has been easy and straightforward to operate.
I purchased additional software, Lightburn which I highly recommend as an extra for ease of operation.
I have attached some photos of the items I have made to show how versatile the D1pro can be
