Signs of Fleas
Irregular scratching and irritation is usually the first sign that a pet has fleas. Closer inspection will usually reveal the 2mm long insects, as well as black droppings, in their coat and bedding.
As fleas can cause more serious health problems than just the initial itch, it’s vital to treat both the pet and their home environment to prevent further infestations.
Causes of Fleas
Dogs and cats often get infested with fleas through contact with other animals or from fleas in the environment. Although fleas lay their eggs in the fur of animals, these can easily fall off pets and become embedded in bedding, carpets and rugs where they may lay dormant for a number of weeks, especially in colder weather, which can lead to repeat infestation further down the line.
Treatment & Prevention
Flea eggs are almost impossible to see, but using the Zero In Flea Killer trap is an ideal way to detect fleas as they hatch in and around living areas.
Apply Zero In flea control products to pet bedding and household furniture, as well as surrounding areas, for effective control of adult fleas and their eggs, and also to prevent repeat infestations. To treat pets directly use the Zero In Flea Killer Comb.
Vacuum and wash pet bedding regularly.

I’ve a toy poodle who is prone to fleas. Used many pour on fleas repellents non of which seemed to work. This works a treat. First day got a lot of big catches now use once/twice a day. Photo shows todays victim.
Okay, I admit, it’s a bit of a laugh, combing my cat and watching fleas explode, but once we got his stronghold treatment at the right level and frequency, he didn’t have any more fleas left. Basically what I’m saying is if you have to use this, then you probably need to get better for the treatment.
Live this comb, I live in the middle of fields so even with flea treatment the cats will come home with the odd flea on them which I need to remove quickly due to having kittens that can’t be treated yet. This comb kills them instantly on contact and even with a thin coat cat it works wonders. I do have to back comb to get anything moving and then a quick comb in the direction of the coat and it seems to remove anything clinging on. My 2 cats love being combed with this which is a bonus and it’s satisfying when you hear the popping when it hits something. It posses no danger to the cat or humans, I’ve touched the comb when on and you can’t feel a thing and the cats are always relaxed when using it. Definitely worth it if you want the natural route ir just extra protection when you have new kittens around. I usually do it as soon as mine come in the house so nothing gets any further than the front porch.
I rarely write reviews so a product has to really impress or disappoint me in order for me to bother. This little comb is a must have for your animal’s well being. I have 3 cats and 3 dogs all who have regular flea treatments and I have no real issues with fleas at all. Two of my animals are pure white so any black flea eggs are easily visible and I noticed a few on each and thought a flea comb would be an excellent addition and useful to keeping them all healthy. So this comb arrives I put in 2 AAA batteries and start combing. Each Animal yielded a couple of “zaps” which did make me jump but was a driving force in continuing combing as it was weirdly addictive. None of my pets minded as they enjoy being combed and cuddled. Anyway after thorough combing of all six over 2 days, there are no more eggs at all. So the couple of fleas that had evaded the usual treatment had been caught by the comb and were no longer laying. What’s really impressive is that all my animals go outside, they are due for their monthly flea treatment tomorrow and by now are usually scratching a bit and they are all clear of everything. I am considering not using the spot on flea treatment as a test as I don’t like using chemicals on my babies. So I can’t recommend this comb highly enough and just wanted to share my great experience with other pet owners looking for a reasonable cost and environmentally friendly way of controlling fleas and your pets comfort.
Perfect on silky short haired pets Yorkie great Maltease more perseverance. Short haired cats but not big bushy cat tines to far apart and pulled and snagged in coat. 2 dogs 5 cats and 17 kittens (by sheer bad luck & timing !) Helped on a particularly horrible year for fleas. Spot-on used on all adult pets and furniture/carpet steaming kittens zapped a couple however better with proper flea comb on all during grooming. Think I won the battle not seen any scratching for a week now. Worth it but use regularly and with your preferred regular spot-on. If your cats are allowed on yur bed try using this comb on all coverings. I was zapping on the pillowcases and my best faux fur thow need to do it slowly and repeat wgere you saw the kill but they are quick little blighters I was surprised at what I was sharing my bed with.
