Description
Arrives in a cardboard box, I prefer to receive cables that are boxed rather than shipped in plastic packaging as a box offers better protection during transit. There is no branding on the box or the cable itself which suggests this is a generic product sold under different brand names.
The cable is a braided design which I like better than PVC coated cables as they do not kink. At 3 meters long this is a practical length for having your screen and device separated. The cable is also available in different lengths. A Velcro cable tie is included so you and coil up and secure any spare cable run.
I tested this cable with my Gen 5 Apple iPad Air and latest HP laptop with Thunderbolt 4 port and both worked fine and the USB C port detected the external monitor. My older HP laptop with Thunderbolt 3 port did not work and the external monitor was not detected.
In summary a well-made cable, worked OK with the latest technology, it may not work with slightly older technology devices.
This cable plugs into the USB C (or Thunderbolt) slot of your Windows computer or Android Phone.
Either way, the cable is identified as a video output cable, and video is displayed on the TV or monitor you just plugged into.
On Windows, this could be an extension of your current desktop or a different desktop.
On Android, this could be just a display of your phone screen, but with compatible phones it will also display Samsung Dex which is a version of Android which looks & functions a lot more like Windows, with apps re-sized appropriately for the larger screen.
Looking at the listing, it appears to be compatible with pretty much all the major brands of laptop along with any Apple or Android phone or tablet from the last few years.
Finally, the cable feels very smooth and premium, with reinforced plugs and braided edges, and no strong bends which won’t come out.
The HDMI end is a little longer than a standard HDMI cable, and you should check it fits behind your TV… You will need about 7cm of spare space for the cable to bend around. If not, you might need an HDMI right-angled adaptor.
I’m very happy with it.
I couldn’t ask for more really. The quality of the cable seems excellent, it comes with a handy little cable wrap to keep it tidy for traveling and it works. I tried it using a fair phone 5 and surface go 3 and everything was displayed perfectly on my TV.
This is a well made cable. Nicely braided. Metal ends. I got the 1.5m cable.
I tested it with my Surface Pro on 2 x 4K monitors. One my LG 65″ TV and my Aorus 43″ gaming monitor. For some reason the LG would only run at 30Hz on this cable whereas from my dock it runs at 60Hz on HDMI. I was about to mark the cable down then I plugged it into my Aorus and it ran excellently at 60Hz at 4k on that.
I’ve tried on 1080p and 2440p and it works on all. It’s reasonable for a high quality cable that can run at this definition. I’m still not sure why the LG would only do 30Hz so need to caveat that, but it still ran perfectly well at that speed. I had no problems viewing on any monitor. Overall I’d recommend it.
This USB-C to HDMI cable works like a charm – it’s built like a tank and can handle 4K@60Hz resolution with no issues. I’ve used it to connect my MacBook Air to the tv – and recently with my new mini-PC with the tv (mini-pc which actually replaces the xbox) and the picture quality is top-notch. The cable is also long enough that I can use it from anywhere in my living room. Bonus points for matching the grey colour of my mini-pc and ‘space grey’ colour of my MacBook. So if you’re looking for a good and working properly usb-c to hdmi cable, this one would be worth consideration. Its bit pricey, but it makes sense to spend a few more quid to be certain it will work properly.
These work well for a wired connection out of a USB-C device into an HDMI input on a TV or monitor.
Beware, however, that some devices such as Google’s Pixel phones do not support HDMI out from the USB-C connection!
Build quality seems good with nice rounded connectors and strain reliefs.
If your USB-C device supports it then these should work just fine with any HDMI input.
