I initially wasn’t expecting a great deal from this product, but I was actually pleasantly surprised! It seems to be a very strongly built item that actually handles a large phone without issue (I own an iPhone 15 Pro Max) – even with a silicone case. There’s a little hook which grabs onto the air-vent and then tightens up nicely, making everything nice and secure with no apparent vibrations or shakes when in use on the road. It does however stick out 4 inches (vent to front of phone) when in use – just something to be aware of when mounting it. Removing your phone is just a simple press of a button behind and the jaws slowly slide open releasing their grip on your phone. I can’t comment on long term durability – but in the last month of ownership, I’ve not found any issues.

Nice compact size. Fits a 6.8 inch phone in a thick armour case easily. There is a button on the back that expands to make yr phone fit. The hook does fit onto the vents, but make sure you have enough vent running lengthways in the car for the holder to sit comfortably with enough clearance. My car only has small curved vents which are either side of the car’s system screen. So the lights stick was hitting the phone holder. If yr screen or radio is above or below the vents or you have longer vents, it will be fine. This is also easy to remove and put in yr glove box when not needed.

Until now in my car I’ve used a phone holder which slots over a slat in an air vent, holding itself in place with a split rubber cone. It’s been OK, but if I go over rough patches or speed bumps it tends to wobble around, the phone tilting away from me, and sometimes falling off completely. This holder is a sturdier affair.

Inside the box it comes in two pieces – the cradle into which you insert your phone, and the mount which attaches to the air vent. There are no instuctions. The mount clips into the back of the cradle via a ball and socket joint, tightened with a plastic nut on the back. A metal hook protrudes from the base of the holder, and a knurled ring behind the ball and socket joint extends and retracts the hook, so you simply pop it into a handy air vent, engage the hook, then tighten the ring to pull it back in and secure the holder. A button on the back of the holder allows you to release the claws on the sides of the holder to slip your phone in, then push them together to tighten around the device. I’m not sure why there is a recessed glossy patch on the inside of the holder, covered with protective film.

The holder grips my phone (a Google Pixel 7 Pro) just fine and unlike my old mount it doesn’t wobble around too much. Aside from the metal hook it is almost entirely plastic so longevity may be an issue, and the claws do seem to be able to move without pushing the release button – certainly to tighten around the phone – which may be an issue after a while, but at the moment it seems more secure than my old holder.

I love that this secures firmly to my car vent by hooking so it has the flexibility to remain in once on bumpy roads but is easy to remove as needed.
The attachment on the back allows ease of tilting and turning to ensure this mount can be used in a variety of ways.
I do like that the mount holds my phone at both sides as well as supporting underneath. However, I only seem to be able to extend one side so the bottom support is very off centre and this holds my charger cable at an angle so I am concerned this is likely to break either my cable or the charging port.

I prefer smaller phones and have an iPhone SE.

It fits this item perfectly and it is good that you don’t have to release any latches to put your phone in or out, there is enough give to be able to do so without.

Whilst it seems to hold the phone reasonably well this does of course rely on the sturdiness of a plastic vane in your blower vent, I’m not sure if that can ever not be a little bit wobbly.

There is a space in the lower support so you can still put your phone in with power connected.

I hope you find this helpful.

I was never a fan of the sticky phone holders, whether they tried to attach to the windscreen or the dashboard, so I’ve been using an ‘beak attaches onto an air vent slat’ type of the sort shown in the third photo with the caption ‘break and drop’. Well, it hasn’t broken, but it has very close to coming off a couple of times and it’s been hard to get the phone to the right angle.

    Not with this one!

The combination of the metal hook and the supporting legs mean the base of this is absolutely stable. The air vent’s slats can’t move and it’s not coming off until the hook is extended enough to come off. The difference in how securely the base is attached is huge.

A side effect of this means that my phone is about four finger widths further out from the dashboard than with the old one. I don’t mind that – it makes one button on the car more visible – but you probably don’t want to install this too close to the steering wheel on many cars, or you’ll be knocking your phone while driving.

It also means that there’s a bit of wobble when going over bumps, but because of how secure the base is, I am not worried about that.

My only ‘why did they do that?’ query is the smooth rectangular with rounded corners area in the middle of the holder. It’s covered with a plastic film when you get it and seems to serve no purpose whatsoever.

Fits a recent Google Pixel with a case, no problem. The button that releases the sides doesn’t do very much, but they don’t move in use and you don’t need to have a death grip on the phone: something that enables you to slide it in and out is fine.

Very definitely recommended unless you have a car with very deep vent slats.

I think this products pretty well manufactured, it’s high quality plastic with metal parts for the fastening the vent bolt which you screw and unscrew to tighten the length of the prong that sticks out and grabs hold of your car air vent.

The back button is really satisfying to press, you click it and the side wings smoothly glide out without touching them. It’s really easy to apply to your car and I imagine looking at the design it could fit quite a few sizes and different models of vents providing they’re strong enough blades.

After you’ve pressed the back button to extend the holder, you can easily fasten the sides with a bit of pressure which clicks the mounting device into place. Due to the nature of the bracket, you’re able to clip phones in with a large case such as a wallet case on the phone because it’s entirely adjustable to the size you need to hold.

I think you could also hold a phone on its side although this would be a little more tricky using the wallet holder style of phone case I’m using. Well worth the price tag in my opinion.
