For the money I can’t complain. Just remember this device does not have image stabilisation. It takes 1920×1080 and looks clear and crisp. Audio recording is clear as well, no noice.
I used this on my “MacBook Air.”
Apple media player does not play the files. So I downloaded from the Apps a free media player called “Final Video Player” and it works a treat.
1. Make sure the device is fully charged. It say format the TF card to FAT32. I checked and it is already formatted, so I did not do it and worked fine.
2. connect the supplied USB cable to your computer.
3. Set the resolution and loop back etc. Locate the drive on your computer. Open the text file “settings.txt”. Follow the instructions in the user guide. I used 1920×1080 and no loop back. Remove the old text and input
101.
4. do a test recording and play the file. Next change timestamp.
5. Set the time. Open the text file “setime.txt”. Input the time as follows (change to your time) 2023-09-17,15:03:30. Save an exit.
6. disconnect from computer.
7. follow the instructions in the user guide to record videos or audio.
8. Stop recording, use final Video player to play your audio or videos and there should a time stamp.
I am happy for what I am using it for. Mostly walking steady, and stationary.
I found the best way to use SD cards was to wipe the card using windows partition manager. Then use it to create a volume but during the wizard choose not to format it. It will then show as raw in the partition manager.
Then I downloaded GUIformat from ridgeconsultants (free software) and selected the drive letter and used the 32768 option.
Safely eject the microsd card. Put it in the camera and switch it on. Leave it for a few seconds (like 20), then switch it off and back on. Then you can record.
Used this with a 128GB card, nothing larger, not sure if that would work, but 128gb should be over 16 hours of HQ footage. The inbuilt battery lasts 1.5 hours, so you need roughly a 10,000mAh charging pack to get to film that time.
The adapter that came with my camera was faulty, and caused any card put into it to become corrupt. I actually lost valuable data this way so be wary and test it yourself before using it. I bought a different one.
The USB C port on the side of mine is tight. So tight, in fact, that it pulled the metal charger bit off the top of my charging cable so I need to buy a new one.
Also, if you switch it on without a card in. it will flash blue/off as if it’s recording. So don’t get caught on thinking it’s recording when it’s not – that happened to me, too.
Overall this is a ‘typically chinese’ product. The technical specs are excellent for the price, but loads of finer details are missed. Like paying a native English speaker to translate your manual instead of creating something that reads like Nostradamus’ prophecies (honestly, starting to think Chinese manufacturers have a bit of ego around this).
With these caveats in mind, I’d recommend this for people on an extreme budget.
After being followed and approached by a weirdo on dog walks I wanted to get a low cost but effective camera for security/deterrence/evidence to give me the confidence to continue having the freedom to walk wherever and whenever I want. I’m very happy with this, had it a week now and used every day. Not seen the weirdo at all since getting it so am feeling a little silly. Never-the-less as I had to get the police involved and I felt silly as describing to them what happened I still feel this camera would reduce my feelings of sillyness if I have video evidence of uncool behaviour. Better silly than sorry. I used the Shortcut app on my iPhone to press siri and give the command Take Video to make my phone instantly start video recording but that just made me feel nervous that he could rip the phone out of my hand, or that getting my phone out of my bag would mean I’d have no hands to defend myself if needed (non-aggressive dog in other hand). So this is a godsend. Read the instructions, I got the option WITH tf card, or whatever it’s called. I had no experience of using sd or tf cards but it’s simple. Press the buttons in exactly the way it tells you and you will start the video, and if you want to you will press another button to hide the blue flashing light that draws attention to the video being in use. This is what I do. It’s worked every day, except a day where I thought ‘I don’t think I’ve pressed the right button’ and I was right, I hadn’t. So if you need to double check if you’ve done it right, do so, it’s easy, just don’t be so impatient all the bloody time!! This could be important if you’re considering getting this for similar reasons. Enjoy peace of mind Boblov 007 lol. Stay safe x
This is my second purchase. The first one I bought a couple of years ago is still working fine but the clip has snapped off and the bottom screw mount has broken. To mount it on my bike handlebars, I drilled a hole through the top and used a terry clip (see photo).
So I treated myself to a replacement with birthday money. I also bought a proper mount and a 64Gb micro SD card. It wasn’t easy making the card compatible with the camera, but with Google’s help I eventually managed it.
The battery will last 3 hours and a 32Gb memory card about the same amount of time. I now have a back up camera that I can use if I need more than 3hrs of recording or use it as a rear facing camera.
This neat little body cam, is just perfect for my use, which is on the front of my mobility scooter. As i am fed up of driver cutting me up on the roads, swerving around me at fast speeds and clear reckless driver, i have been involved in car accidents where cars have hit me, and this camera is great at capturing the events as they unfold. And if you buy a decent memory card 64gb then you should have sharp imagery and video footage. As for the body cam, i would recommend this device as its very good with easy to follow instructions and the shape is just perfect to hold in your hand and with belt clip you can also hang on your jumper too. So for that i would easily rate this 5/5.
Works well but to narrow a field of view to record my dog walks. Mike is sensitive enough to pick up conversations but also clothing russel. Will use ad a dash cam.
This device records very good video and quite acceptable audio. The battery was good for two hours after a 45 minute charge. A real effort has been made with the user manual, which was a nice surprise, although there are a couple of inaccuracies. The manual says that the TransFlash card is not included, however it is! (Can’t exactly complain about that). It also claims that recording is activated with a three second press of a button whereas in actual fact only a quick press works. Confusing. It comes with a little USB key-like object which I assume is for formatting the TF card; however, I just plugged the card directly into my laptop. Everything works flawlessly in Linux (Ubuntu) without the need for drivers or additional steps. I formatted the card from GNOME’s file browser app (Nautilus). Configuring the device felt very 1998 – you have to edit numbers in a text file to choose the video resolution etc.! There’s another text file to control the time and date stamps. I noticed someone commented that the videos wouldn’t play back – I think you just have to be patient as it produces very large files that are going to take a while to load. Some of them took 20 seconds for me and that was on a Core i7 laptop with 16GB of RAM.
Overall I’m very happy with this device.
What they don’t tell you,is you have to own a computer, and the capability to format both disc/ stick.. I’m 69 and neither.di camera is in the dust bin. Filed as useless
Excellent value for this product it’s small and light, camera quality is about 80% out of a 100% . OK this might help you if your not technology minded, download the app above in picture and you will need to buy a sd card reader adapter & a good quality sd card, the sd card adapter is for the extraction of the micro sd card from the camera so you can transfer and watch your videos on yours or other devices, the app is so you can convert videos files to mp4 this makes it easier to watch on any devices (this advice is for android users)
*UPDATE* I have downloaded vlc a play back app and the video recordings now play. Audio is great and the video quality is better than expected! Great little camera! Still docking one star due to the hassle of having to download extra software, but camera itself is great!
I bought this to use for video recordings. The audio recording works fine and is great quality. But the video recording side does not work. When hooked up to PC the play back does not work and only plays back sound. I have downloaded several different media players to make sure it’s not my PC, but still does not work!
Perfect, for what I want it for (when I walk my dog) compact good quality video OK sound. My only fault is the button are smaller than they need to be and you need to too mess around too turn the lights off
The video quality for 23 is fairly good, battery life is great.
The downside is when you clip it on to your jacket it kinda points up, so really you need it more like waist height, not near your neck.
The audio recording is slightly low and muffled, but acceptable.
The camera records in 5 minute segments so when finished you might have 10 or more recordings. After some initial problems with corrupt files I was sent a replacement that works fine. If using on a shirt/jacket try putting a thin strip of metal on the outside of the pocket behind the camera. The magnets will stick to it & help keep the camera still.
Easy enough to use once you figure out the instructions, other than that works fine, battery lasts well enough, picture is good enough to see driver faces and number plates from my bike and that is what I wanted.
Clips on to clothing well enough, no good for rear facing on a cycle helmet as it doesn’t angle down enough even with a strap, but good value for what it is.
UPDATE
The on off button ceased to function after 6 months. So I contacted the seller, amazing response, fast replies and very helpful. After I sent a video, they sent a new camera.
EXCELLENT SERVICE.
I needed an unobtrusive camera which was easy to wear and this one clips onto my jumper or coat neck very well and stays in place. The quality of the video is very good too. The price is also reasonable. My complaints are that the manual is very sparse and leaves a lot out that you need to know. For instance, the camera itself doesn’t have a delete option so I deleted from the SD card using my computer. The Boblov wouldn’t then record or turn off after I reinserted the card and turned it on. They supply a pin thing and tell you how to reset it if necessary so it must be a common problem. I contacted Support who were very prompt and they said the only way to delete is to do a FAT32 reformat of the SD card on your computer. Although it does roll over, if you have a lot of audio there may not be room left for video or vice versa. The other problem is it doesn’t say how much battery is left. Again Support says it flashes when it’s run down, but then it goes off straight away so not much good if you’re in the middle of a lecture or something so an indicator would be very useful. Overall it has been very useful so I have given it 4 stars
Having been hit whilst cycling twice in just a few weeks into the darker evenings I decided that I’d had enough. I wanted a cam that I could record my journeys so that the next time someone in a 4X4 turned suddenly and sent me flying, I would have it on camera to show the police… anyway, I was concerned about the quality of this, and because of some of the reviews I had seen, but they were all blown away from consideration once I actually got it.
It is a straightforward unit to use, although as some people rather rudely pointed out, the manual was clearly written by those whose primary language is not English. BUT, the directions were still usable (with a little initiative) and I figured it out. If it were not for this I would give this product 5 starts.
The quality is great, and it is easy to clip to a pocket and use – meaning I am capturing all I need to see and hear, should I be unlucky enough to meet with another driver who isn’t paying attention to what is around them.
