These days, HDMI is the de-facto standard for connecting a computer to a monitor, with USB-C creeping up but not there yet. Plenty of other standards have existed, though, from the venerable VGA connector to chunky SCART plugs and a bewildering array of Display Port connectors. For a good few years, DVI was also a significant standard. Many graphics cards and monitors came equipped with DVI connectors, and so did a lot of KVM (keyboard, video, mouse) switches.

While working on a computer from a few years ago, I needed to connect a second monitor. The only spare monitor connection was DVI, but the monitor wanted HDMI. This connector was the solution. I plugged this into the PC and could then use a regular HDMI cable for the monitor. I was a little worried that the description states 1080p, as my monitor was 1920×1200, but the connector worked fine. I never connect sound to monitors, so I don’t know if that will work, though.

In short, a useful connector for the toolbox, and you get two in the pack, but you’ll need something a bit better, and probably a more modern graphics card, if you want to drive a 4K or 8K monitor.

Handy little device, lets you use HDMI connections with old DVI monitors/computers.

You do have to manage your expectations – such connections are limited to 1920×1080 (or 1920×1200 at most) – this is unfortunate with so many 4k and 2.5k displays around now but obviously this is better than no picture at all.

Also worth mentioning that sound may not work with this adapter – it’ll depend on whether your devices can send audio over the DVI connection – this is common, but not guaranteed as it isn’t part of the DVI spec.

With all that understood, can happily recommend these adapters which worked well.

I use these to take the strain off the plugs and sockets on my phones and tablets. The USB-C format is already far superior to the terrible Micro USB connections which were the previous standard as they were always breaking and caused annoying intermittent charging and data transfer issues.
These adaptors look great (for a USB plug) and seem really strong. I’ve had no issues with them charging or transferring data which is great and being type C they can be used either way around depending which direction you want the lead to go. Not much more I can say really other than the price is a little steep but what can we expect in a time when some shops are security tagging milk.
I can happily recommend these 90 adaptors.

These adaptors appear to be of good quality and do the job intended of diverting a cable 90 degrees.

I used these in my car for keeping phone charging cables tidy, which they do adequately.

No charging or data transfer issues experienced, they work just fine.

These are very useful for changing the direction of charging and other USB-C cables, especially in tight places with large charging ‘bricks’. I’ve used it with one of the 100W Mac ‘bricks’ which stick out quite far from the wall, and the change in cable angle helps re-direct the cable upwards, leaving more room around the charger, and making the cable less of a trip hazard.

I am using these on a couple of tablets so I can keep usb cables plugged in without them looping out sideways on my desk and a) taking up space b) just looking untidy.

The build quality is good, they feel like they will stand the test of time.

My only quibble is the price. 8 quid for two seems a little on the high side, but I suppose we are in a time period of everything costing a bit too much.

    Recommended.

A pair of nicely finished USB-C right angle adapters – ideal for those tiles you want your phone or tablet to stand up with a cable connected to the bottom of it

So I did that and everything works as before

The plug and socket fits nicely and engages with a reassuring click. No chance of it falling out or moving around in the socket.

    Does the job nicely !

I’m currently using this with a Kamvas 22 inch tablet where the split wire is just a bit too short to reach the desktop. It works perfect with it with no delay or disruption to the tablet’s usage.

The casing is metal and the ports are of good quality. Fits in with a slight click and has a solid connection.

At the time of writing a pack of adapters costs 7.88 which is fair for the quality and quantity of the product.

    Does the job.

The ends are nice and sturdy, it fits nicely into the phone even with the case fiited on both the Samsnug S8 and the Z fold 4, a good connection without falling out. it states 40Gps on them but in have no used them for data transfer so do not know about that. they come with little plastic caps to protetct the C type male end , great for altering the angle of the charging cable so it is not stuck out from the bottom of the phone.
I use when the phone is in portrait mode so i can still rest the phone on my chest while reading etc… without the cable being bent over at 90 degrees. this will keep the pressure off the cable and reduce any damage to the charging port. great item….

And I don’t know if you have this problem, and when I am playing the switch, and my battery is low, all I’ve got is the original charger which sticks out at the bottom. This isn’t ideal as I always worry that this awkward angle will cause a break in the charger, or it will break the connection in the switch.

This little adapter solves that problem with a 90 angle, it will allow you to have the charger plugged in at the same time as playing games, without the fear of breaking the connection.

For the price you get two which is great. I would highly recommend this.

If you change peripherals a lot you’ll know how fiddly it can be looking for the usb c on the side of a laptop and this makes life so much easier.

They insert directly into the usb c port and offer an additional port at 90 degrees to the original. Sonyou can easily see the port from top down.

These are solid and have a tough aluminium housing.

I tested this on my work laptoo and it made life so much easier. No more fiddling about or having to lift the laptop upnon it’s side. Just a quick plug in and good to go.

Good quality and value. Highly recommended.

Thank you for reading my review. I hope you found it useful

My laptop sits on a stand and the monitor cable sticks out getting in the way, needed something to tuck it in and this adapter was perfect, plugged in easily and my monitor cable pushed nicely into the bottom of it. I have two monitor chained together and the monitor powers the laptop. This all still works through the adapter and now I don’t have any cable in the way. Two connectors for less than 8 is very good value for money and the quality of these connectors is very good so I’m very happy.
