The gel ammo that this blaster toy uses, looks just like water beads. Them come as teeny tiny pellets in a packet (you get 5 packets of blue ammo beads), and you put them in a bucket with lots of water for about 4 hours. The pellets absorb the water and grow much bigger, at which point you can load them into the ammo reservoir and shoot them out.

The battery for the gun is a removable battery the same size as a AA battery, and it is connected to a cable, which is connected to a USB C A charging cable to charge up, and then connected into the base of the toy to power it..

There is a sliding on/off switch as the back of the toy blaster, which I didn’t notice for a long time as the colourful design on the gun is so busy that it is hard to spot it. You need to slide this button to power the blaster from the battery.

The blaster itself works well and can shoot quite far right across my garden, so at least 10 meters, but I haven’t tested it any further distance. It shoots a ball about 2 or 3 times per second continuously as the trigger is held down. When the ball hits an object is disintegrates into lots of tiny jelly pieces.

My son has had a huge amount of fun battling phantoms in the back garden with the toy blaster. It works well and is easy to refill from a bucket of pre-soaked balls. I soaked about 1/3 of one packet and it has lasted my son an entire day of playing.

Comes in a retail box with plenty of ammo and require hours of soaking in water for them to expand and the gel balls go everywhere and are very bouncy.

This blaster only has a fire rate of around 2 to 3 rounds per second so its quite a slow one compared to my desert eagle blaster that does 10 rps ! but that cost more than twice this one and has a larger battery.

Great fun for kids with adult supervision and even larger kids without but some care needs to be taken to avoid leaving the gel balls everywhere as they are not pet friendly.
And the most important caution should be taken to not allow your kids to take this out in public to avoid getting arrested by the firearms squad due to people wrongly reporting these as firearms and the guidance from the police says to use these out of view of the public.

Pro tips … only use a few tea spoons of the dried gel balls in a large bowel like a washing up bowel or bucket as they expand quite a lot.
The expanded gel balls do keep for ages though in a suitable sealed container if you make too many and i have had some for several months in a ice cream tub that are still usable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun gel blaster but not the best fire rate
