This is a great addition for someone that likes to scan documents or pictures. This would be a great product for scanning old pictures onto a drive. HP did a good job of making this compact and portable. I would recommend to anyone.
This scanner is convenient and fast for scanning double sided documents. It can also scan a variety of documents such as an ID or receipt.
Although compact, I don’t think it’s an ideal travel scanner, because it is somewhat heavy and has a bulky power cable. However, it is easy to use and the HP WorkScan software is available for Mac or Windows.
I didn’t encounter any issues with this scanner, but it does have some quirks. For one, the software allows a max ppi of 1200, which is not the same as dpi. Loading pages on the scanner has to be done correctly for best results. For example, when loading pages from the top it’s best to extend the document holder and use the plastic handles to conform to the size of a document. It’s not an advertised feature, but it would have been nice if it had wireless functionality.
In my opinion, it’s not the most feature rich scanner, but it does work reliably and is capable of scanning double sided documents quickly.
This is a good scanner. The set up is quick and easy. It has a really small footprint so it doesn’t take up a lot of space anywhere you want to put it. The DPI depends on whether you do it in color, grayscale or black-and-white but overall I thought the quality of the scans were really good.
We needed a new document scanner to replace our previous one that no longer had native Mac software. This HP fits the bill with a Mac app you can download from the HP website. The software (at least for Mac) is pretty decent with options for single or double-sided scanning, color/B&W/grayscale, resolution from 75-1200 dpi, and various sizes of documents/photos. Scan speed if pretty decent – not quite as fast as our previous document scanner. What I really like about it is the really small size. It truly is pretty portable easily fitting in a backpack.
Package includes USB-C cable and AC cable with various adapters for US, European, and UK outlets.
Overall pretty happy with the scanner and is a good value over our previous brand’s document scanner. Works great for Mac running Sonoma – can’t comment on Windows software but couldn’t imagine it being much different.
I’ve tried the free-fed portable sheet scanners (and even the old wand scanners way back when) and I’ve never gotten a truly good quality scan from a portable unit. Until now. This scanner from HP (can’t tell if it’s a rebadge or something they designed in house, it feels a little different from other HP products somehow?) stores and transports in a small footprint, but then unfolds to become a fully capable sheetfed scanner with auto-feed tray and just enough of an output flap that scanned pages don’t run wild. I love that I can set it up in seconds, use it as needed, and then fold it back up and have it ready to carry. Scan quality is what I’ve come to expect from HP. I wouldn’t use it for high-quality archival photo scans suitable for enlarging if I had access to a flatbed intended for such purposes, but for everything else it’s a sure thing. Resolution seems to be 300 dpi vs the claimed 1200 dpi (maybe I’m missing on how to select that), but 300 dpi is more than enough for copying and reprinting.
My only gripe is that it doesn’t include a cleaning sheet or a travel case… that seems like a bit of an oversight. The overall value proposition is good (though not great) right now, but I’m guessing it will drop soon enough. For those two reasons, it’s a solid 4-star choice.
Have only had the scanner a few days and have scanned personal documents and about 100 photos. This little scanner does what I wanted it to do. Easier to use than the flat scanner on my printer. Quality of scanned pictures is directly proportional to the quality of the picture being scanned. I’m not looking for perfection; if you are, you should find another alternative. 🙂 Scanned photos are just as good as those scanned from my HP Printer which was much more costly.
