Upgraded from the X2 to the dive bundle package but didn’t know there are two types of dive cases: the invisible one and the standard one. Guess which I got? Apparently Insta upgraded the standard dive to the invisible one. Had to shell out more cash for the invisible case.
Everything works okay but not tried it underwater yet. However the SD card was either a fake or just faulty. Camera would not always recognise it. I had the fright of my life when firmware update failed halfway through as a result. Thought I’d bricked it. Anyway popped in my own working SD cards and the update went through okay. Tried to contact seller but can’t see an option so went directly to Amazon who promptly cut me off halfway through a complaint.
Took a while to get started as the bundled ‘Integral’ 64G memory card was faulty, not fast enough, the camera seemed to lock-up in record mode. With a better (and larger) ‘Sandisk Extreme’ card fitted the camera worked properly and the fun began. It will record about 4 hours on a 256G card and the battery endurance seems adequate though I didn’t measure that yet. The PC editing software allowed me to select camera direction and zoom level for exporting to a ‘normal’ MP4 video quite easily, once the concept of ‘set points’ is understood. Microphones seem to be adequate. Such a shame they included a slow/faulty memory card in the bundle!
The camera itself is brilliant, well thought out and extremely powerful. It took me 2 days of head scratching to work out the SD card bundled with this product (camera, selfie stick, lens cover and SD card) weren’t compatible with the camera!! It was causing it to crash and to glitch.
Luckily I had a Sandisk extreme SD card I use for my GoPro and that seemed to fix the constant glitching and crashing.
So the bundled SD card is no good for the transfer rates required by the Insta360 X3 so avoid it!
The camera itself is awesome the software for the iPhone is good so is the Mac software. It’s a steep learning curve when you start as it’s all about viewports and key frames but once you got your head around it it’s brilliant and makes a GoPro seem old hat.
Would deffo recommend but please sort the SD cards out.
Brilliant little camera! I bought it to use on bike rides with my toddler and the footage is just wowing everyone. The fact that you can’t see the camera support / selfie stick is brilliant and makes look like the person in front of actually took the video.
Camera is amazing, video quality is just outstanding.. the only annoying thing is the SD Card sent with camera is wrong one and too slow causing camera to freeze and not work at all.. luckily I had a super fast one already for my dash cam… buy a disappointing thing for such an expensive purchase..
As someone who has owned every single insta360 one camera this is by far the best. Works in a similar way to all previous cameras in the range but being the latest has the best quality. Actually bought as the megapixel count of photos has been increased.
There is so much you can do with this device and it is designed really well. Absolutely love taking it around. I recommend a longer selfie stick for fake drone looking shots. The product is good but the ease of use in the app which you get access too including the desktop/Mac version is the selling point.
I used to own the X2 and was always impressed by the quality of the footage. The X3 is no different and provides the same quality footage.
With a new waterproof casing it’s more practical to use around water and I don’t worry if it get wet.
The app is good but limited to 1080p unless you import the footage to a pack or Mac and use the insta application to create clips. Not bad as you are able to get more results using the application and the phone app is more for in the moment uploads.
On the use of the mobile app it’s a bit clunky to have to keep connecting to it via wifi but as ai say I don’t really rely on the app. If you don’t have a desktop or laptop then you won’t really benefit from the full resolution. The app doesn’t work with Google street view anymore as Google retired the application. There’s a new online version of street view so would be great to see that feature added.
Battery life is good and I often use the camera in my car for my daily commute and that’s an hour usually. Not experienced any issues with the recording including using loop record to save filling the memory card daily.
Would like to see GPS from my phone included so I can track speed etc without needing to purchase the GPS module as I feel it’s not needed if you have a mobile phone.
Overall a great camera with cool features and options to cater for most use cases
The quality of the videos is amazing. I had no idea how to use this even after reading instructions so if you are similar to me ie getting on a bit, then ideally you need some young person to show you. I wrote it all down in a way I could understand. I only do basic videos and add music, also I have been taught to put + signs on the video when editing it so that the camera moves around following those +`s rather than just staying on the person holding it. I bought a longer selfie stick and it never ceases to amaze me how it is invisable on the videos accept in shadows. There is a lot more that can be done with this camera of course and perhaps it`s wasted on me but I love it.
This lived up to expectations!
Great for holidays with the family.
Definitely needs a bigger storage card, 512Mb in my opinion.
Also needs phone storage big enough to fo editing of the video footage later.
Quality is brilliant, the effects from the insta are just insanely good. Read reviews on the Internet before buying and Believe this is the best on the market at the moment.
If you’re a video fanatic, definitely get on!
Great seller, excellent feedback!!!. although the only issue encountered was related to the Invisible Selfie Stick. The advertised product image did not match the one received, but after contacting the seller, they explained that Amazon had not updated the image. Although the received selfie stick was original and fit in the case, it did not have the foam grip as shown in the picture. Upon informing the seller, they agreed to send the correct one, but cautioned that the advertised version is longer and may not fit in the case. Therefore, it is advisable to inquire before purchasing to ensure that the desired product is received. Aside from that, everything else was flawless.!!!.
Ok so firstly I loved my GoPro and even though I pretty much gave it away regret not still having it as I think they both sit in different aspects of an action cam…. But! Insta360 x3 is way more fun! I created a cool video on my very first run which people straight away commented how cool it actually was.
The camera will obviously record in 360 so when it comes to stabilisation you have 360 at your hands to stable the picture recorded at 5.7k and 30fps.
Loads of different modes but that being said it’s so simple to use my kids are intelligent so no question they could use it but put it in the hands of a grand parent then I think even they could given a few pointers be able to use it and after time get the jist of its unique angles it can record and as for the selfie stick….. Wow amazes people and has them scratching their heads on how on earth you recorded the footage, drone normally comes to mind, nope it’s invisible selfie and camera.
So I ran with 360 and go incredible video, 2nd run (today in fact) not so great as I tried to use it like a GoPro as FOV mode and the shake was bad! However like I say it’s new to me and I realised the for this FOV+ is wayyyyyy better with stabilisation and horizon lock wish I’d sushed that before.
Camera is awesome to being able to take 72MP 360 picture and you can chose which bit to crop to share or just share a 360 photo.
The app is incredible with loads of tips, tutorials, templates, editing tools and social element where as you can view other members videos and pictures to see what you can achieve when you become Zen Master!
All in all do I recommend absolutely! Do I suggest replacing your GoPro…. I’d keep the two and you will soon see what the advantages of each bring. I can see this being such fun though! Get one and if I were you get the package with the not so good memory card and just buy another SanDisk high-speed card, you will save money anyway!
The camera is fantastic. Picture quality is great and video is pretty decent once you get used to the settings and figuring out how to maximise quality with the right manual settings. The kit I got had the lens protector which is fine and the selfie stick which is great quality, although I would have preferred it slightly longer. The memory card supplied is just not up to scratch speed wise and just isn’t good enough…. They’ve cheaper out with the memory card in the kit. I’ve knocked a star off for this reason. Factor in having to end up buying something like a SanDisk Extreme Pro to get the speed needed.
First time owing a 360 camera and can honestly say i love it.
The best about it you can just film without worrying about shaking and angles and reframe it all whenever you want
The image during daylight is awesome very bright days tends to blowout the highlights but hdr mode does help a little
For dark lighting the camera struggles with noisy image however it wasn’t made for low light so as long as there is enough light its going to ve you awesome results.
Love it will definitely recommend i
