This little switch is the core of my home office network and I depend on it every day. It looks solidly built, is pretty much silent, negotiates correctly with a range of other devices and generally just does what it supposed to. As a network engineer, I would not hesitate to buy another is I were looking for an un-managed small switch.
Just got 910mbs fibre installed. Using these to switch Ethernet into TV, Pi4 and other devices. Super quick. Plastic case but given it is hidden behind TV who cares. Comes with power supply. Just add quality cables for full speed experience.
Saved me using another power adapter for router and other ports used as normal switch. Have non poe tplink external camera unused because of hassle of wiring,so might try with poe splitter as camera external location can be mirroring internal location of this switch
Not a bad little network switch considering the price. Been using for a few months now with around 7 ports filled, and nothing has broken or failed so far, speeds have been as expected and it looks nice on the table.
Can’t really fault it tbh. It does what it needs to and does it for a good price. Good stuff!
I like to game & run some home servers for my friends & family to play on together. I also video edit & host a video library for Plex for the same. So I’m always transferring files to & from when making changes & so on. Normally having edited & converted movies or TV shows, I have to move them onto a portable HDD & then plug that into the system I want them to be transferred to, because using ANY remote desktop software, be it built in windows, TeamViewer or whatever, the speeds were poor, literally 2-3mbps.
So I decided to give this a try, for 13, you really can’t go wrong & I wasn’t expecting much. So I connected the ethernet I have plugged into my router I receive my fibre broadband from that I have extended around my home to a ethernet box, I then plug an ethernet into an additional router. I switched that router for this & connected all the systems by ethernet. To put it in simple terms, my transfer speeds for a 2gb video file went from 2-3mb/s to 80-100mb/s & depending on the software you use. I no longer have to transfer onto & off a portable hdd every time I want to move files around, I can use the built in HDD sharing feature & add it to my network drives.
Some have said they needed to reboot their router for it to detect it, I didn’t.
Some said it feels like it’s overheating. I have all my ethernets in use & online, and it’s as cold as the wall it’s attached to.
No configuration needed. Unless you have a specialised requirement for local networks, unmanaged is more than OK. The speed is fire superior to ANY wifi router you can buy on the market, and I know this because I have a high end one I use fed off from the poor router my network provider issues. The only thing you need to consider, is why you didn’t buy one sooner.
In case anyone needs to know, yes you can hook up a wifi router to it & it’ll work perfectly fine if you need to extend the wifi reach in your home.
And no, this will not improve your internet speed. It’s purpose is to increase the speed between computers that’s connected to it. So if you move files from one PC to another or stream movies by having a media server connected, it will improve the speed significantly. You will still get the normal broadband speeds with a wifi router if you plug a wife from the router into this, any port will do.
I mean, it’s 13 people, that’s the average cost for a decent HDMI cable….
Easy to set up – plug RJ45 from router into one of the eight ports leaving the other seven as outputs to other equipment. Use Cat 6 RJ45 cable for best data transfer speeds but Cat 5E obviously pretty fast too. Unit and power supply are small enough to easily hide. Very pleased.
I needed a hub in the bedroom in order to split my RJ45 to feed my TV, xbox, bluray and amp. This box is quite discreet and hides behind my equipment. The RJ45 comes from another splitter in my games room and into this splitter. You can add as many of these splitters to your network as you need, putting one (or multiple) in every room as needed. This has sorted all my internet needs in this room and was very cheap to boot.
Case 1. So you have 3 printers a powerline adaptor and a PC to run off your 3 outlet hub…..answer use one of these and have plenty of redundancy to future proof yourself.
Case. 2 So you have a powerline adaptor with one outlet at the far end but more than one device to connect to it (Mac Mini, smart TV and laptop). Rather than play a game of swapy swapy every time you need to use a different device use another one of these. So far I have not encountered any slowdown in performance on the system.
Works particularly well with a Powerline that also has w-ifi .

This switch was recommended to me by a friend who is an IT manager. It is extremely good value and works perfectly. I no longer have any problems with dropped connections while gaming. Zero setup was involved. Just one cat6 cable into my providers hub and then one to each of my PCs, printer and smart TV.. The picture quality on my smart TV which is located nearby has improved drastically.
