Product Authentication Tips
FILL SIZE
Due to vacuum packing the tub may appear to be two-thirds full when opened. This is normal as the powder settles and does not impact on or decrease the weight or number of serves listed on the label.
NECKBAND
Gold Standard 100% Casein tubs have a gloss plastic neckband around the lid. Colour will be black or black and gold. Check that this has not been tampered with.
VACUUM SEAL
Optimum Nutrition protein tubs have a cardboard vacuum barrier that helps hold powder in place during shipping. This gloss white protective disk should be stuck to top of the tub.
BATCH NUMBER AND DATE
Every Optimum Nutrition product will display a printed Batch Number and Date. The Best Before Date and Batch Codes are located on the side of the tub or the rear of the large bags.
SCOOP
Gold Standard 100% Casein tubs (UK & EU) contain golden scoop. There is branding on this.
TUB DESIGN
Gold Standard 100% Whey Tubs (UK and EU) have a circular indentation on the bottom. There is also a line running through the middle.

The tub is not full to the brim when opened, why is that?
This is completely normal and is to do with the way the powder is vacuum packed into the tub. The powder settles over time. This does not impact the weight or number of servings listed on the label.

It’s a good taste, I like it, but there is no spoon inside it’s so difficult to know how much am I using actually very disappointed but I like it taste everything is good
Best casein power I have tasted smooth taste and not sweet and not sickening No1. Buy this every time but you don’t need it just eat oats 1h 30mins before bed save your money.
Better taste than some out there but not as good as the red label of the same brand, not for taste anyway but pretty decent or even better if blended with a banana.
Best casein I’ve tried so far, vanilla is definitely better than chocolate. Tastes better and is a lot smoother while chocolate has that grainy texture so I won’t buy that flavour again..
It is a bit better if I shake it with a spoon of peanut butter but if you’re thinking about buying it, I’d recommend vanilla over chocolate any day!
I’m also lactose intolerant and this is so far the only casein I’m able to drink without any issue.
Been using ON caesin for a while now and is probably the best out there in terms of taste and consistent quality. Thicker and creamier than a whey protein shake and needs to be mixed a little harder than whey to get a smooth shake but nothing too challenging. Chocolate is the best flavour and has fractionally higher protein content than some of the other flavours. The creamy Vanilla is also not too bad flavour-wise.
All the negative reviews about the new ON casein formula across various platforms made me doubt my purchase and look into other options but ultimately decided to experiment and opted for this one anyway, as Kaged Muscle Kasein wasn’t available on Amazon. Tbh, not bad. Defo wasn’t counterfeit for me, proper seal. High in protein and if prepared well, tastes good. Leaves a dry feel in the mouth after sipping as a shake but maybe because I used it with semi-skimmed milk. A little grainy even when blended for a while. Tried it as a pudding, so much better (recipe: 80g Skyr yogurt, scoop of casein, ~ 100 ml milk, dash of cocoa powder). Something about digesting it as a solid food appeals more… Went for creamy vanilla flavor as it’s so much easier to make it into more flavors by simply adding cocoa powder or strawberries to the combo. Will try other brands but wouldn’t mind returning to this one. Try & experiment yourself!
Being slow release it will feed my muscles throughout the night whilst I sleep thus helping aid muscle repair.
The flavour is great and the consistency is also good.
This type of protein is slightly more grainy than normal whey, however a good shaker still gets it moderately smooth.
All in all a great product that doesn’t affect my stomach/digestion however price could be better.

Product went off and developed a strange taste, Maybe a bad batch.
Amazon customer service were fantastic and sorted it out right away..
I have used this product many times in the past and will continue to purchase it.
I will put this experience down to a bad batch..

This actually tastes really nice and. It at all lumpy. I’m enjoying it as if it’s a milkshake in the evenings. Can’t comment on the performance at this stage. One done side the internal seal was broken like I’ve read on previous reviews but the outside one was intact so I’ve kept it. You have to dig very deep to find the scoop first time too, don’t give up!
I love the flavour of this Casein (chocolate) and I find it really satisfies my hunger, however I find that it doesn’t really thicken very well, so I have to add a little Konjac powder to the mix.
I use before bed and sometimes during the day, to quell any chocolate urges. I notice from the ingredients list that it has a few additions, including some BCAA’s and ingredients that help break down the proteins. Gladly (thankfully), I can say that it doesn’t give me a bad stomach (or nasty backside) in the way that other protein shakes tend to do.

Loses one star because it needs thickening.
Tastes great (creamy vanilla) and great size lasts ages. Perfect for first thing in the morning to get your protein fix until lunch or last thing at night.
Gave it four stars because it’s a little grainy when with water and shaken. This isn’t a problem for me, but might take a little getting used to.
Personally I really like stirring a scoop into a bowl of porridge and it mixes really well into a creamy oatmeal (I have porridge verging on the dry side with water). It mixes really well with just a bit of stirring.

Pros:
-Flavor absolutely brilliant
-It actually works
-If you don’t have the time to cook or buy food at specific time you can use it instead(for example if you have long day at work)
-PERFECT for night time regeneration
-Much better than whey
Cons:
-First one isn’t obviously a negative but casein breaks down at MUCH SLOWER rate than whey but this is how it works
-Might be bad for kidneys if you don’t detox (lemon juice squeezed from lemons every morning is enough)
-Iw ill make you fat If you’ll use it too much.
I used it before bed time (2 scoops on 700ml blender bottle) and that’s all what I needed but In worst case scenario It can replace breakfast. In overall it’s a great product and I worked well for me just be careful with dosage.
