Why choose mealworms?

Mealworms are packed full of protein, vitamins and high grade edible oils.

They are key for muscle development with adult birds and there young.

Giving over 50% protein this will act as a rich source of food to keep the birds healthy and well-fed.

The impact of mealworms

Get to know your wildlife in the garden by attracting these feathery friends with a tasty treat.

Birds love insects and adding mealworms to your feeder is going to attract different species of birds to your garden.

Though they are high in protein, they are also low in calcium so feel free to add other foods to you have.

When to feed mealworms

You can feed mealworms to your birds all year round, they won’t go unnoticed.

However in the winter will be the most important season as it is the hardest time of the year for all wildlife.

Parent birds will also be needing these in the spring as they are providing for their young.

Tips and tricks

Try mixing them together with out suet pellets, fat balls and fat cakes!

In the spring they can be softened by adding them to a container of water for 20 minutes, this will add moisture to hydrate the birds.

Adding different suet types and flavours to the mealworms will attract a great variety of wild birds, give it a try!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI usually buy my seed etc from B & M and other foods for the birds. I could not go out so order had to order them from Amazon. Although they were a little bit on the expensive side, the birds flocked down in droves, so I was very happy about tha

After reading the previous feedback I decided to purchase these and I can honestly say, without hesitation, that I am very pleased with my purchase. (As are the birds!) The mealworm appear to be top quality and for the price they are excellent value. Thank you, from the birds & I.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is a great product. My poultry love them. I use them as treats, to get the poultry in for the night, as a small treat for my dog (who loves them) and for the wild birds. Decant them into a plastic tub beanies the mice love them too and nibble through most packaging. It is good value for money.

Well, bought these to go with the suet in the back garden bird feeders.

Didn’t really expect to have to rate them on scent and sturdiness.

If any of the little blighters in the back garden ever comment on either of those i’ll let you know.

BTW it’s a myth about birds abandoning their young if a human puts them back in the nest. Birds have an appalling sense of smell, almost as bad as their table manners, and wouldn’t have a clue if you had touched their young.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersFirst time I ordered these they came in a large plastic tub. Next time I ordered them I hadn’t noticed that it said a bag of mealworms. So I was pleased the way they came as I was then reusing my previous tub. All good for the environment. On the bird point – the birds that come to my garden cannot get enough of these mealworms and it’s attracted a pair of nuthatches coming to the garden on a regular basis as well as all the usual, robin, blue tit, coal tit, long tail tit plus more sparrows this year 2023 than we’ve seen in many years.
We always find the birds know what they want, either through the seasons or if feeding young and they will feed accordingly from different feeders with Sunflower Hearts, Fat Nuggets and Mealworm are all their favourites. All kept in cage type containers to hopefully keep the squirrels at bay ( but we have found 1 squirrel this year has managed to get the clip top up and he then gets inside the feeder ! the cheek of him/her).
