I use this product to cook and heat things I would have put in my full-sized gas oven. It is easy to use and much quicker. I am waiting to see if I notice a difference in my gas usage when my next bill arrives.
Saves time and no doubt electricity bill. Easy to clean with plenty of room for just about any sized meal. It’s a case of experimenting with what to cook, but so far I’m well pleased and it’s a great replacement for my halogen oven.
Bought this for my Mum for Christmas as she had been looking at them. She absolutely loves it and uses it everyday. It is the perfect size for her as my Dad passed several years ago and it is actually getting her cooking proper meals from scratch again.
This works as expected although in retrospect we could maybe have used a bigger model or one with 2 drawers. Is it the best thing ever? Not really, it’s a useful tool but it’s basically a really small counter top fan ove
Works well, cooks quickly. I’m fully expecting this air fryer to save energy compared to my full size oven.
Used about 30 times now.
The display with installed programs is more than I need and I would probably choose a fryer with just temperature and timer next time. The fryer does pause and alarm for you to turn or shake your food items half way through, which you can ignore if you want.
Used it for potatoes, with and without oil (best to part-microwave first, in order to cut the total cooking time required). Home made pies. My wife likes roast parsnip, which it does well. It will take time to explore all the options. Also tried slicing swede, brushing it with oil, and cooking.
Main annoyance is the beeper which signals that the programme is complete, or that it is time to shake the contents of the basket – it is very noisy, I wish I could turn the volume down.
Really good size for single person, bit of struggle for couple and more people. Buy bigger size same brand cos it’s fab.
For me perfect , I made pasta bake, soup (roast the veg basically) roast supper, croissant, whole baked potato and sweet potato. Lots of things.
Quickly heat up so perfect, good selection of buttons.
Surprised how good this is given that it’s at the cheaper end of the market. I have a leading brand oven type air fryer which is a nightmare to clean so I bought this for ease of use. I have a silicone liner and that makes this a doddle to clean. Just pop the liner into the dishwasher and rinse out the basket. Easy done.
Not for a family as quite small but capacity is plenty for me. Cooks well so I’m happy.
Choose this air fryer after reading the reviews and I’m thrilled with it. The size of the basket is quite unique in that it is a large almost square basket and can easily hold a cake tin or family sized pie dish.
Perfect size and easy to use.
I have now had this for 10 months and am generally pleased with it. The cooking space is big enough to fit most things I want to cook and it works well. There is one thing about it that drives me mad however. The oven temperature setting and the cooking time share one display and the default is to the oven temperature. I want to be able to glance at it to see how much cooking time remains but I can’t. I have to stand and wait for the temperature display to change to the cooking time, which displays for a much shorter period. Having set the temperature to begin with, why would I want to be constantly reminded of it whilst cooking? Surely the remaining cooking time is of much more use to a busy cook?
I am shocked at how well this cooks! It is far superior to my large oven in the kitchen and at a fraction of the price. It has all the cooking modes on it in a simple to use way and is a joy to cook with as i love looking through the see through glass to check how the food is going! It’s great!
The product is really good and very compact. It works really good for all kinds of products but the Airfryer doesnt work the way other individual air fryers works and may be the company should look into this deature and make it as good as the other reputed air fryers in the marke
So easy to use, and easy to clean.
I was sceptical about buying an air fryer, and it becoming something that I barely use, almost like a fad buy.
However, I could not have been more wrong, I use this most days, and barely use my oven any more.
It is easy to navigate and I could not recommend this one more. I often cook for 2 with this air fryer, but if you have big portions of food, I might suggest sizing up. For the price- you really can’t complain at all.
This is a lovely little oven – could do with another shelf so I bought one here on amazon – all works perfectly and looks nice too!
Different functions and timer are very easy and useful – I’m happy!
I love everything about this product, especially how easy it is to clean and the size of it means I can cook everything in one pan!! I try to make EVERYTHING in this now! Highly recommend
My brother has had an air fryer for many years now but never thought I needed one but have been considering one for a few years now.
I didn’t want to spend the earth on one in case I didn’t find it useful. So this was perfect. Bought the 8L to hopefully make healthier chips and also because it was large enough to do at least 2lb in one go. After googling the best way to do them I gave it a go. They are great! Can hardly tell the difference between air fryer chips and deep fried. Best of all … no mess and no smell!
I’m sure I will be trying other things in it now. Roast potatoes are next
I can definitely recommend this frye
I bought this as I wanted a small air fryer suitable for one person. I’ve been very impressed so far as it’s very easy to use both the pre programmes and manual. It’s very easy to clean and I’ve made my own liners using circles of greaseproof kitchen paper as prepaid liners are too big.
A lot of the cooking I’ve done has been trial and error on my part but I’m using it a lot more than I thought I would.
I feel that this has been a very good buy.
Perfect for someone trying out an airfryer for first time, or someone who wants a simple but functional airfryer.
Only down side, is that its quite weighty – but its robustly made, can be put away in a deep drawer. Works like a dream, we use everyday now
Getting used to temps and times still as its quite different from an oven but love the way simple stuff turns out, keep some greaseproof in there so doesn’t get dirty quickly!
Beeps are really loud though haha
I gave it as a gift to my son: he has little time to cook because he goes to university and it has significantly reduced the time needed to prepare meals. Obviously it doesn’t fry but it cooks as if the food is in the oven at a high temperature, significantly reducing cooking time
I bought this for my sister as a new home present. She didn’t think she needed one, but once she had this Russell Hobbs Airfryer in her house she didn’t know how she lived without one. She is really happy with the performance and the outcome of the food. She’s cooked chips, jacket potatoes, toasties, chicken wings and homemade popcorn chicken and she’s been impressed with all.
Love this product. First time using Air Fryer + instructions/suggestions made it so easy to use. Size good for cooking for 2. Easy to adapt to your own cooking preference just use their info as a guide. Quite noisy but about same as my normal oven so not a problem. Would highly recommend.
I purchased this as a replacement for an AeroGrill that lasted 14 months. It was more expensive but appears to be a superior product I use it daily as it’s a multi cooker it functions differently to an air fryer the fan goes off and on during the cooking cycle for the roast function but once I got used to that it’s fine the bowl capacity is great and cleans up like new. I had to get used to handling containers etc a different way as the device does get hot but I think its a good piece of kit and can totally replace a conventional cooker the slow cooker is also excellent. I’m hoping this will last but I’ve registered the 2 year guarantee just in case it doesn’t.
I’d been using a Tefal Actifry most days for several years and while I was waiting for a warranty replacement I got this small machine to use as a temporary substitute. I liked it so much that I didn’t bother to get the Actifry out of the box when it finally came back. This machine is faster and uses less energy. It has fewer moving parts (less parts to fail). It is easier to keep it clean. It is much quieter. I’ve used it for about three months. Downsides are, it is too small to cook for more than 2 people, and you can’t cook as many different things as with an Actifry.
Bought for ~30 while on offer. Very good price at the time though if you are thinking of buying it for a higher price you might want to consider something bigger.
Easy to clean, though it can smell a bit depending on what you cook.
Cooks well, though too small to completely replace an oven.
Easy to use, though you may need to use the dreaded internet to find optimal time/temp settings for different foods.
I didn’t buy it for air fryer in the main as have air fryer, but wanted cheaper to cook meat in than large oven for couple of chops and needed slow cooker. I am very pleased with this its used almost daily, for one use or another. And whilst air fryer not as quick as my other air fryer chip done in it are much nicer soft on the inside and crispy on the outside.
Easy to keep clean and very versatile, i was prepared to buy more expensive machine but glad I didnt.
Only slight disappointment was has a lift up lid so won’t fit face on worktop because of top cupboards but when in use move it foward and turn it sideways on. And can then lift the lid fully.
One other thing what is the difference between roasting and baking?
As I live on my own I only needed a small air fryer but 1.8 liters may be a touch to small 2 liters may be the sweet spot…Regardless the Russell Hobbs has a very easy-to-use, bright digital display where you can set the time and temperature there are also presets if you wish.
It’s easy to clean, but I would recommend using paper liners to make that chore even easier, just make sure you have food in the basket when you turn it on… so to sum up its a small basic, easy-to-use, clean, and cooks evenly and I got it when it was 30 so my review reflects that price point… at 50 there may be better Air Fryers.
This multi functional air fryer does what it claims to do.
It takes a bit of getting used to as the technique is very different from conventional cooking or microwave cooking.
Easy to clean and the digital display is clear.
I had the medium size one, but would think a family of four or more, ywould need a larger or double oven size.
It’s important to read the instructions carefully.
I found the instructions quite easy, but rather brief. No recipes included, which would have helped.
For beginners I would recommend getting an Air fryer cook book and perhaps invest in some liners, which make cleaning easier.
A couple of trial runs help before planning a meal for guests.
I have made cheese scones and sponge pudding using the baking instructions.
Sometimes recipes have to be adapted to suit this kind of cooking. There are usually conversion charts in cookery books.
Not enough space to cook large batches of cakes in one go but still saves on energy used to heat a large oven.
I’d been dithering over this for half a year, not knowing which type of air fryer to go for; the choice was bewildering. I read hundreds of reviews of many models and was repeatedly put off by comments about the burning plastic smell filling the house, but I didn’t see that in the comments about these Russel Hobbs ones, and the brand is one I’ve trusted for decades, so I kept coming back for another look. I watched a wide variety of air fryers being used on a shopping channel too and learned how to use them from there, as well as getting a feel for which type and capacity might suit my needs, but I still didn’t believe that they could be as good as the hype. The price of this four litre model gradually came down to a level where I felt it was worth the risk of giving it a go. If I’d known sooner what I know now, I’d have bought one months ago at a higher price. Right enough: no burning plastic smell, so I’m really happy about that, and I was stunned at the taste of the food that came out of it.
I wanted to try cooking chips first to see if they were as good as people claim, but I also wanted to cook a piece of sockeye salmon, so I hit the “fries” button, then adjusted the temperature down from 205 to 200 as a compromise for when the fish would be added half way through the process. I also adjusted the timing up to 22 minutes, but with the intention of checking and stopping the process early if necessary. I found that I could adjust the temperature and time during cooking too, which means you can make changes along the way if your inspections suggest you need them. After 11 minutes it beeped, I turned the chips over, then set the fish on top of some of them to keep it off the metal plate in case it tried to burn onto it, but I needn’t have worried as there was no danger of that happening – I’m used to cooking fish on a grill pan on a ring where the heat is transmitted to the fish through contact with the metal, but in the air fryer the heat comes from above and all round, while some conducts through the plate but without risk of anything burning and sticking to it. I opened the basket early a few times to check progress (including before half time) and ended up eating the content two minutes early, but I also opened it early to remove the skin from the side of the fish that had it, this being on the top. I didn’t need to turn it over as the underside was fine and it was the newly exposed top surface that wanted most exposure to the heat. The fish tasted twice as good as it does in a pan on a ring: it was astonishing. The chips tasted like the ones you get in good chip shops, although with some burnt bits here and there and some bits still pale. If you want perfection it might be worth using an air fryer with a rotating cylinder to put the chips in, but I wouldn’t bother going to all that trouble. I simply picked out the ones that looked as if they were likely to burn and turned them over or ate them at that point.
One thing that I wasn’t sure about was the holes in the side of the basket. I haven’t seen any other types of air fryer that have those, but it had no negative consequences beyond a drop of oil getting through and leaving a slight mark on the internal wall of the fryer. You want to keep cleaning that anyway, so it wasn’t a problem, and it likely provides an advantage when you stuff the basket full by aiding the circulation of hot air to those surfaces up against the walls. The fan makes a bit of noise and I had to turn the television up a bit – yes, I did the cooking in the living room to make it easier to monitor the process, and then I ate the food straight out of the basket. Nice not to have to cook in the kitchen, and it’s light enough to carry around and cook with it anywhere in the house. This will completely change the way I do cooking, and I’m really happy with this fryer. It could easily cook enough for two people and maybe three at a push. I’m now tempted to buy the 5.5 litre version as well to handle situations where I need to cook more and might need to use significantly different temperatures at the same time, but I’ll stick to using this one for a while first to learn more about using it. This is a great machine and I’d be very surprised if it disappointed anyone.
