My daughter loves this,
Lots of fun,
Easy to use,
Good instructions,
Well made,
Unicorn is rechargeable which is great! But you need 2 aaa batteries for the remote which are not included
This toy is great fun for our 4y niece. It’s very fun and child friendly. She loves unicorns so it was an absolute no brainer. It’s child safe and average quality with lots of features for the current 25.99 price tag with the 10 voucher offer. It’s super easy to use – remote or gesture and the sound quality is good. Only downside is that it’s a bit smaller than hoped but for this price it’s a steal!
Verdict: recommend.
Childhood is about imagination, and this unicorn robot amplifies that tenfold. Its movements, from dancing to trotting, are captivating. Gesture mode allows for interactive play, and the adventure mode promises independent exploration. With added safety and rechargeability, it’s a delightful mix of technology and whimsy for little ones.
This unicorn is remote-controlled, gesture controlled and can work on it’s own. In fact, I was quite surprised by what it could do.
It dances, plays music, is interactive teaching STEM skills such as problem solving, creativity and communication.
It is well built and made from non-toxic materials.
My unicorn crazy granddaughter loves it and has got it to do more and more each time she plays with it.
The only downside is that it is rechargeable however it doesn’t last more than 2 hours, so I seem to be forever recharging it.
I suppose that is great because it means it isn’t in the bottom of a cupboard not being used, but it could have done with a more powerful battery, to my mind anyway.
But other than that it is a greatteachingtoy.
With children full of energy and curiosity, this unicorn robot has been a delightful distraction. Its array of movements, from dancing to exploring, keeps them entertained for hours. The gesture mode adds a layer of interactivity, making playtime more engaging. And the programming aspect? A clever way to introduce them to basic STEM concepts.
This unicorn robot is a fun and engaging toy for kids of all ages. It has a variety of features that keep kids entertained, such as music, dancing, and gesture sense control. It is also a great educational toy that can help kids learn about STEM concepts.
I was worrying about the product before because there is unknown liquid stain in the package.
But it works without any problem, maybe I worried too much.
This is good size for the children. To compare with robot we have, this pinky unicorn has many more function and performs correctly. There are many acceseries/items, so we can play different way.
My little girl was frightened of the unicorn’s eyes for the first time, but now, nothing at all.
Nice and very technological toy!
This is a very fun remote control toy unicorn which I’m sure will be a hit for many kids who love unicorns and something cute! Please note – I often refer to the unicorn as ‘she’ in this review, and seeing as this review is quite long feel free to scroll down to the conclusion or read specific sections which highlight different issues…
CONTENTS
Inside the box there is the unicorn toy (with some wheels under her feet), an instruction booklet in several languages, and a bag with additional items, these are: a charging cable, a small bowl, 6 programable usb looking keys in the shape of bones (like dog treats), a small comb and a remote control. The unicorn itself was packaged well into the box, although I have to say that her back legs did seem to have a bit of oil on them when I first took her out of the box which was wiped off easily enough, but probably a little left over oil from the manufacturing of her wheel gears or something. The instructions come in multiple languages and are not very long and are easy to understand with added images.
SETTING UP AND CHARGING
The unicorn itself can be charged using the usb cable provided and when it’s charging its eyes are red. Unfortunately the cable provided is barely more than 30cm long, and it’s not a typical usb cable that you use to charge other devices like usb c, it has a specifically shaped end, so you can’t swap it and are stuck with this very short cable (a minor niggle for me).
The remote control needs 2 AAA batteries (not included) to work and getting the batteries in is easy with the battery compartment needing a screwdriver to access it. Once you have the remote batteries in and the unicorn charged you can enjoy its fun antics.
STARTING UP AND UNDERSTANDING THE DIFFERENT MODES
Turning on the unicorn stumped me when I first tried this. Her head bobbed up and down and I couldn’t actually turn her on. The instructions state to press down the horn for 2-3 seconds but I was only able to turn her on when I held her head still and then pushed downwards on the horn which is the main switch. Once she’s turned on you can use the horn to turn her off again by holding the horn downwards for 2-3 seconds. The horn is also supposed to change which play ‘mode’ she’s in although I have had some problems accessing this feature.
The different modes the unicorn has are: remote control mode, gesture mode, adventure mode and programming mode. Her eyes are supposed to light up in different colours according to what mode she is in: Gesture mode – blue, Adventure – red and Programming – purple. Unfortunately to date I haven’t been able to access adventure or programming mode yet as I just haven’t been able to get the unicorn into those modes but I’ll explain more about that in the ‘problems’ section of this review below and in the meantime here’s more about the different play modes and my experince with them:
PLAYING THE DIFFERENT MODES
-REMOTE CONTROL MODE – This is so fun! As soon as the unicorn’s eyes light up and she’s turned on she’s naturally in ‘Gesture’ mode with blue eyes and you can use the remote control to override the gesture mode and to control her movements right away. The remote has 9 different movements: slide forwards, slide backwards, walk forwards, run forwards, turn left, turn right, sit down, stand up (on two legs), and dance.
Sliding back and forth are fun and has her literally sliding a bit like a car forwards and backwards. Running is cute, though I really love her ‘walk forward’ interaction which has her trotting along the floor sort of moving left and right a bit as she slides forward slowly. Turning has her turning on the spot in a circle either left or right. ‘Sit down’ has her sit backwards lifting her front legs off the floor. When I first saw this movement I thought she’d fall over backwards as it was quite an abrupt sit down but she has a tail that always suports this fall. There is a stand up interaction which rights her back to a standing position and subsequently makes her lie down with her front legs forward on the floor, however in combination with another button it can also make her to twirl on two legs.
*Important – I’ve not had any issues with my remote control like some other reviewers. In fact the remote responded well each time I pressed a button. There is something you have to know about the remote control mode that’s not explained on the instructions and that is that most of the gestures like sliding forwards and backwards only happen if you press down and hold the button on the remote control. Pressing the button briefly will only make her move a fraction, and to get her to twirl on two legs for example requires some tricky movement order: first you have to make her sit, then stand up, but only press stand up button until her legs are high in the air, then you press the turn button making her twirl. If you press stand up fully without stopping when the front legs are up she’ll just return to a lying down position instead of the two-leg twirl.
The last button in remote control mode is dance. This makes the unicorn play some music while moving in random ways on the floor. This is by far the most fun of the buttons to press and you only need to press it once quickly for the unicorn to go a little nuts dancing very randomly. 🙂
-GESTURE MODE
In this mode the eyes are lit up in a blue colour and the unicorn responds to different hand movements you made. Moving your hands in certain ways like forwards or backwards gets the unicorn to move in those directions. This was a bit of an iffy mode at first as the unicorn’s responses seemed almost too sensitive to my hand, but after a little while I started to get the hang of it, and it’s quite cool to place my hand near the unicorn’s face, move it in a turning motion, and have the unicorn turn in that direction, in this case twirling in the spot like a dog can be trained to. 🙂 There aren’t so many movements you can make while in gesture mode, but it does make the unicorn feel like she’s more alive when she responds to your hand movements.
-ADVENTURE MODE
When accessing this mode the unicorn is supposed to be able to move about entirely on its own exploring the area its in, and the sensors in it’s eyes are supposed to be able to detect objects so it doesn’t bump into them. The eyes are supposed to be lit up red during this mode, but I just wasn’t able to access it yet so I can’t comment more which is a shame.
-PROGRAM MODE
The eyes are suposed to be purple in this mode and the unicorn is supposed to be programmable. There are 6 ‘treats’ that come with the toy and these look like bone shaped flat usb sticks, small enough to fit in the unicorn’s food bowl. The unicorn has a tongue that looks cute but if you lift the tongue up you can see the hole the usb ‘treat’ is suposed to go into. This makes her look like she has a cute treat in her mouth but the toy is far more complicated than that.
The instructions explain that various specific movements can be programmed onto the key. One interaction at a time with a press on her nose and each treat can be slowly programmed with a sequence of movements which you can later watch the unicorn perform. This is such an awsome feature to have for learning and although it’s perhaps not something that the younger kids will fully understand, it is something that slightly older kids could enjoy. However, once again I couldn’t get into this programming mode, so I haven’t been able to test this feature out for myself yet.
PROBLEMS
It’s not really a big problem, but the usb charging cable is incredibly short and can’t be swapped for another longer one you might have at your house as it’s not got the most common of connection ends.
The horn on the head of the unicorn is a button to press to turn her on/off and to switch to the differnt program modes. You can to activate it by sort of pushing it downwards and for me this button became easier to activate while holding her head slightly. You can hear it click so once you manage to turn her on the first time you know what you are doing.
Unfortunately the biggest problem for me was simply not being able to access the adventure and programming modes. 🙁 The instructions say to press and hold the switch to get into these modes, but so far I did that and it just turned her on and off, I tried pressing the switch quickly and nothing happened either. I plan to keep testing this toy out so won’t mark it down for this as I am aware it could be a incompetence issue on my part , but I’ll edit this review in future to add whether I’ve accessed the other modes or not and more on them if I did.
CONCLUSION
Overall I believe this is a brilliant and very fun remote control unicorn toy with the added feature of being a toy that responds to your own hand gestures too. The look of the toy is so cute, the big eyes that light up and the fun mane of hair which can be brushed with the mini comb remind me of a very famous brand of pony toys. Along with her eyes lighting up there’s also the fun noises she makes. She will neigh when you turn her on, and make noises while doing the different gestures, and if you leave her standing without doing anything she’ll huff/breathe in that horsey way after a short time.
Although I haven’t accessed the adventure and program modes yet (not sure if they are there at all or I just haven’t figured out how to get to them) the remote and gesture modes themselves make this a super fun toy to play with. As far as these two modes go, just having fun moving the unicorn around and having her respond to movements for me is more than enough to make a super fun toy for any child, and while some reviewers state the price of around 30 pounds is too much, if you compare to any standard RC toys out there right now, then this is just about right, and is a bargain if there is indeed an adventure and program mode that I haven’t yet seen/tested.
I was impressed by the number of things this dog robot can do, I was expecting it to move a bit and sing a song and that’s it. However, it’s been proven to be quite entertaining for my 7 year old. She plays with it frequently and is one of the favourite toys. It’s easy to use, looks good and seems pretty durable. I just wish the price was a bit lower, as I’m unsure it’s actually justified.
I got this for my Unicorn mad niece as thought she’d appreciate trying it out. At first, I thought it was simply a toy that bimbles around forwards, backwards and performs little dances, but upon trying it I was surprised by how many other things it can do. To switch it on you use the horn and push the head down 3 or 4 times to activate it. The remote is fairly straightforward to allow you to move it around, sit, stand as well as dance etc, but that isn’t all. If you press the horn, the unicorn’s eyes change colour to enter different modes. My niece loves the gesture mode and the adventure one. The adventure mode basically sees the unicorn sliding around your room but using sensors so it doesn’t bump into anything and the gesture mode has it following your hand when you hold it in front of its face. There is also a little comb so your child can comb its mane or give it a hairstyle lol.
I actually think it is a very cute little toy and offers a bit more than just what the remote can do. My niece seems to like it and I think it would make a great gift for any little fans of the mystical unicorn.
This unicorn robot for girls is really cute design and the way it works .
It has music, makes dance, gesture and sense control .
This pet toy is suitable for kids over 3 year old and over .
When I reviewed price was about 31 it is overpriced and spicy but as it has lost of features and is cool probably would buy again as a gift for special occasion.
My niece, an enthusiast for all things whimsical, was thrilled with this toy. The unicorn moved fluidly with an array of actions that kept her engaged. I noticed the interactive gesture mode, which allowed her to guide it using just her hands, leading to bursts of giggles. The programming option was a subtle introduction to basic coding concepts, encouraging her to experiment with sequences. And importantly, the materials felt safe for a child’s hands. After playtime, recharging was straightforward, though I did have to procure AAA batteries separately for the remote. For kids who love interactive play, this toy hits the mark.
This is a cute toy
Children will love it as they don’t really notice quality, my granddaughter thinks it the ‘best present ever’ which is all that matters.
In reality, it is rather plasticky and doesn’t always respond.
The toy itself is rechargeable; only the RC needs batteries (which are not supplied)
It can be played with like a ‘my little pony’ especially useful when the charge is depleted, or it can be programmed to perform up to 30 recordable movements. Part of the STEM programming.
It will avoid obstacles and potter about the house, left to its own devices. A bit like having a pet I can switch off.
All in, its a nice present for a child and there are learning possibilities as well as play
I was sent this SGILE Unicorn Toy for my daughter to try out, and it’s been a hit so far. It dances, plays music, and even responds to gestures. A good mix of fun and a dash of STEM learning for the little one. It’s a fun, educational gift that I reckon most toddlers would love. I’d give it a solid 5/5.
Arrives in a great looking box, ideal if being given as a gift
The unicorn is super cute and has a good build and look to it
Typical remote control toy, spins, goes forward backwards, and this even dances and neighs.
Unicorn is rechargeable, via USB, the remote requires batteries, 2 AAA batteries which are not included.
A great looking fun toy, ideal as a gift, lots of fun.
Very fun interactive unicorn toy
Takes a lot to set this toy up as you have to insert and set up each program with the keys provided
She takes commands really well
You can use hand gestures or simply use the remote control
You get a whole lot for your money and what little girl doesn’t like unicorns
She won’t be disappointed with this toy at Xmas
This is at the higher end of the price point for toys (or certainly what I would be comfortable paying) but it does have loads of features and is something I would splash out on for example as a big christmas present. It comes well packaged so on opening it is in pristine condition. It has a ‘my little pony’ style mane of hair in pinks and purples which my little one loves, it is super girly! She is just discovering all of the different ways it can be controlled, from the remote or hand gestures and what she can get it to do. It is really fun, looks good quality and packed full of fun features to keep her entertained for a while. Very happy.
The little one loves anything unicorn so she is over the moon with this.
Easy to use with lots of features, it’s like she has her very own pet unicorn.
Very good price also.
Recommended.
