Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThunderbolt 4 cables are usually rather expensive. Many similar to this one, cost over 25.

So, at less than 12, this short cable is a bit of a bargain. I bought this to connect my Samsung T7 SSD to my new ASUS ZenBook Duo laptop for backup purposes. It works a treat.

Using CrystalBenchMark, transfer speeds have gone from ~47 MB/s with my old cable to ~1018 MB/s with this one, thus drastically reducing backup times.

With a reasonable price and next morning delivery, I am rather chuffed

This lead does what it’s supposed to do effectively. Only a couple of problems. The lead is very sturdy but inflexible and the ports feel wobbly when connected to my brand new laptop.

Purchased this as I couldn’t justify the ridiculous 129 for the longer Apple Thunderbolt cable.
I’m using to connect my Mac Studio to may Apple Studio Monitor.
What I can say is that it worked without issue and after a couple of weeks I’,m full convinced it’s my bargain of the year.
I don’t charge a laptop with it so can’t say anything about it’s current(as in AMPS) limits but for data it works a treat.

This is a sturdy, well-made braided cable. I haven’t done any technical measurements of data transfer speed, but it completed my computer backup of approximately 19GB in approximately 12 minutes, to an external SSD hard drive. This is significantly faster than the cable that came with the hard drive.

I am happy with this cable.

That single event? Whether or not it worked as a replacement for the original TB4 cable that came with my hub (original cable was about 30cm too short to be useful).

When I swapped the original hub cable for this new Silkland one — the Silkland one worked. Instant five stars.

Should I notice any strange goings-on, I’ll come back here and amend this review.

    Background:

Bought for an Anker all-singing, all-dancing powered hub.

Everything plugs into the Anker hub: keyboard and mouse dongle, bluetooth headset dongle, ultra-wide screen monitor, additional USB-C to USB-C portable monitor, headset USB, 100W Power Delivery OEM charger cable/USB-C. Then, all of this gets routed to the laptop via this TB4 cable as a single cable solution so that when a single cable is plugged into the laptop, it provides both PD power and connectivity for every device needed. It’s great to be able to only have to plug in and remove a single cable when you want to use the laptop as a plain old laptop. Plug in one single cable and you’ve got a desktop solution as well. So as you can see, it was essential that the Silkland cable (1 metre) worked as well as the Anker cable (70cm) and it does.

Right out of the box, the cable’s build quality impressed me. It exudes durability and sturdiness, reassuring me that it’s built to withstand the test of time. The USB-C connectors fit snugly into my devices, eliminating any worries about loose connections or accidental disconnections.

The standout feature of this cable is its Thunderbolt 4 compatibility. With a whopping 40Gbps data transfer speed, I’ve experienced a whole new level of efficiency in moving large files between my devices. Whether it’s transferring videos for editing or backing up important documents, the speed is unparalleled. The cable truly lives up to its promise of blazing-fast data transfer.

Charging capability is another aspect that’s elevated my tech experience. It’s a game-changer, especially when I’m in a rush and need my gadgets ready to go. I no longer have to wait around for devices to charge; it’s all quick and seamless.

The cable’s compatibility with various devices adds to its appeal. Whether it’s my MacBook, iPad Pro, iMac, or even my SSD and monitor, this cable effortlessly connects them all. This versatility means I can tackle multiple tasks without constantly switching cables or worrying about compatibility issues.

The ability to support 8K 60Hz HDR is another noteworthy aspect. As a content creator and media enthusiast, the visual quality matters a lot to me. With this cable, I’ve been able to experience stunning visuals without any glitches or lags, making movie nights and creative projects even more enjoyable.

The cable’s 1-meter length strikes the perfect balance between convenience and flexibility. It’s long enough to reach my devices comfortably without creating a mess of cables everywhere. Plus, the cable’s flexibility means it doesn’t get tangled easily, saving me from frustrating knots.

Overall, this has significantly improved my tech setup. It’s a high-performance cable that delivers on its promises of speed, compatibility, and efficiency. If you’re a tech enthusiast looking to optimize your workspace with reliable connectivity and lightning-fast data transfer, this cable is an investment that you won’t regret.

I have been on the lookout for a new usb c to usb c fast charging cable as my previous one had become faulty and only worked at the ‘right’ angle. I saw this one and decided to give it a go. It does work great as a fast charging cable with my Samsung S21 FE. This is a 1m cable, and I could have done with it a little longer as it is hard to continue using my phone while it’s charging. The usb c connecter is not long enough to charge my phone while it is in its case, so I have to pop it out. This isn’t too much of a worry at home, but I wouldn’t use the cable while out. I don’t do a lot of data transfers to be able to comment on it being faster than other cables, but I was able to quickly transfer some videos and pictures off of it to my laptop. I am happy that this works very well with my device.

This review is for used of the cable for data transfers between an NVMe portable drive and PC.
I used to think that USB-C was the same regardless, but I was wrong and there can be a big difference be it charging a device or data transfer etc. This cable is clearly built to last and feels like I could tow a car with it (not recommended of course).
When used on my PC via USB3.2 port I am getting peak transfers around 15Gb/s depending on the size of files I am transferring. Connected to my Mac and I am getting peak transfers around 20Gb/s. My previous cable was much the same as this and this is performing much the same.
The Amazon page boasts speeds of 40Gb/s, but I wasn’t expecting to get this with my set-up and these speeds are often ‘best case’, but it is a good cable and will ensure that data transfer will be the best you are likely to get for this interface type. The thickness of the cable suggests to me that you won’t have any issues using it for charging devices.

This is one of those cables where smaller is better and the price reflects the quality of the cable itself, with excellent transfer and charging speeds which are not lost or dropping on this neat shorter cable as can happen with a longer cable, this seems like a very well made cable with solid joins and a feel like it could last a very long time.

I’m in the middle of reviewing a number of USB-C cables, and over this weekend I’ve been testing three USB-C to USB-C cables from different manufacturers and they all claim the same 240w power transfer capability. Two are stated as being Thunderbolt 4 cables, while one simply advertises itself as a charging cable. This cable by Silkland is one of the Thunderbolt cables.

A good quality Thunderbolt cable can be quite expensive, and at 18 at time of testing for 1m it’s a little on the expensive side as USB-C becomes the norm and prices come down. I’m not usually a fan of 1m cables as they’re limited in their versatility but they have their uses.

I’ve got several devices that I’ve tested it on. A Canon 4K video camera, a Sony PS5 Dual Sense controller, various iPhone/Apple Watch/Air Pod charging docks, several photographic lights and my iPad Pro 5th gen. Over the last few weeks I’ve discovered than my iPad Pro has a tempremental USB-C charging port, only accepting charge from certain cables. Unfortunately my iPad absolutely refused to acknowledge the presence of the Silkland. I acknowledge that this is most likely an issue with the iPad rather than the cable, but of the three cables on test one was accepted (the none-Thunderbolt cable) while the two higher-specification cables didn’t work with it. Very odd.

The cable is quite rigid, rather than overly-flexible like some cables I own. That should improve its durability. Currently I’m using it for my desk iPhone charger and it’s working well. I’d prefer it to be a couple of pounds cheaper for it to be more desirable over similar products that do the same, but it’s worthy of consideration.

The video goes into much more detail, including full on-screen testing

    However, in a nutshell:

    Things I liked:

+ Rock solid performance (at 10Gbps, at least).
+ Feels like a good quality, well constructed cable

    Things I didn’t like:

    – Each plug is labelled “4”, but this seems a little vague – sis it referring to USB 4 or TB 4?

    Do I recommend it?

Yes, very much so. My testing setup is restricted to 10Gbps device and port combinations, so I’m restricted to a quarter of what this cable is capable of. However, this cable did everything I asked of it with no fuss. Great cable.

A reasonably specced and reasonably priced high-end USB C cable.

USB C comes in many guises, and USB 4 / Thunderbolt 4 standards are the upper end of data speed, video and power supply.

That performance comes at cost, both in price per metre, length itself matters as data speed drops at long cable runs, and the thickness and stiffness of the cable.

But here not so much money. Does that compromise the cable?

This example from Silkland comes modestly packaged, there’s a cable tie in the bag, I found that post picture, but other than that you get what you see, and I have no complaints. I don’t need frippery.

Absent the Thunderbolt symbol (and at this competitive price point I am not surprised), the specs as described are USB 4, 3.1 that permits the headline 240W, 40Gbps Data and, 8K@60Hz Video.
Thunderbolt 4 “guarantees you can run a pair of 4K displays at minimum and transfer data at up to 32Gbps.”
This cable description includes “8K@60Hz 4K@120Hz and dual 4K@60Hz.”

I note this, but at present that is not something I have the hardware to test.

However, as far as I am able I can say I was pleased with this cable’s performance and think this is really competitive price.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is a straightforward enough nylon braided Thunderbolt 4 cable. It looks to be well finished and I was pleased to see that both USB-C connectors arrived capped to protect them during storage and transit.

I do have a slight niggle with this cable and that is where the cable meets the housing. I prefer my cable to have a perforated sleeve that protrudes down onto the cable, enabling it to flex without putting undue pressure on the wiring inside. This does not have that, instead has a short, hard plastic one.

I tried this with my modern Window 11 laptop, via the Thunderbolt 4 port, and initially connected it to a Crucial p% Plus 6600MB/s NVMe drive, housed in an ORICO 40Gbps external enclosure, and I was getting read/write speeds in the region of 3000MB/s & 1850MB/s. Which was very much inline with other TB4 cables I have tried. I also hooked it up to a 4K@60Hz monitor and a 2K@144Hz monitor without any issues.

I was only able to test the charging performance up to 120W, which is currently the limitation of my equipment.

Apart from having that flexibility where the cable meets the housing, all-in-all this is a decent cable and performs well.

I hope you found this review & photos interesting, informative, and useful. Thanks for reading.
