Superb product that works perfectly for home and garden. The extra long length means I can get all around the car, and it coils up small to store in the garage.
This is truly a lofe changing product. I never had a dshower and to be honest I used to stink. I was so smelly that I always got a seat on the bus. But now I shower every month using this product and because of my improved hygiene I now have a girl friend. True, she is very overweight and whiff worse than I do….but she is a real girlfriend.
Thanks expanding hose for changing my life
I love it!!
It’s actually my second purchase of this hose, the original taking its final bow at the beginning of this summer.
It arrived well packaged, before it’s “due date” and it’s performance so far has been second to none.
This “flat” hose winds onto its wheel smoothly and takes up very little space. Can’t fault it at all, in fact makes me want to sing
Fits the tap well no leaks or drips when using. Good selection of different spray options. Quick to fill and empty. I have left this out permanently fixed to the tap since purchasing but intend to store it inside as weather gets colder.
I’ve bought two of these types of hoses over the past few years and each one has burst when used with a pressure washer. I believe it may be due to the water backing up in the hose when the washer isn’t engaged.
I can’t fault it for regular use, it extends further than I’ll ever need. I guess I’ll just get a regular hose on a reel for what I need it for.
I’ve always yearned for an impressive, lengthy hose, one that would incite a green-eyed gaze from the neighbours as I proudly uncoil it in the garden. Yet, the prospect of packing such a monster away deterred me. Not anymore, though, as I now possess not only a considerable lengthy hose but also a spacious sack for post-use storage, ensuring everything remains orderly and discrete.
This hose’s exceptional length is enhanced by its sleek, black finish. This black hoses, is much longer than average size, it’s striking colour truly sets it apart. The attractive black hue adds a certain allure and appeal to the discerning eye.
A few months ago, I owned a more modest hose. Its lifespan, however, was cut short due to rough handling, leading to a premature breakage at the tip. In need of a replacement, this new hose, complete with brass ends, was the perfect fit. You’d have to be quite cavalier to damage the robust brass tip. The only non-brass part is the nozzle, but since it’s primarily use is for aiming, it should hold up well. As evident from the pictures, the hose features several spray settings.
The hose, a striking black and stretching to a remarkable 100 ft, comes with a matching storage sack, ensuring a tidy pack-up. It expands impressively, much to the envy of neighbours with less substantial hoses. Interestingly, there’s a small transparent window on the sack, the purpose of which I’m yet to decipher. However, it pairs well with a drawstring that securely tightens the sack post-use.
So, if you’re in the market for a sturdy, massive, black hose, stretching to a whopping 100 ft, complete with robust metallic ends and a matching black storage sack, your search ends here.
– update
Unfortunately after unpacking my lovely hose, in preparation to showing it off to the neighbours, I discovered that that it was missing the crucial brass attachments so that I could connect it to the tap. So it was pointless really.
Very disappointed as you need a robust end on your hose to ensure good pressure and be able to spray in all the right places
Good for saving space, but previous similar item only lasted a year, so too early to fully assess. Could do with a water cut off option at connector to gun. Spray gun very basic – mist option poor, but otherwise functional.
It makes me happy that this hose can stretch as far as it claims – so we can water both front and back garden from the one tap. But it is lighter and easier to manage that the old, heavy hose was.
My current hose is working is fine but I needed a replacement hose gun sprayer. When I saw the cost of those by themselves, I wondered if it was worth trying this new type of hose with one included
My previous hose has stood the test of time but it is very thick and long and, quite frankly, a bit of a faff to wind and and unwind everyday when it’s used across spring/summer. I figured I would buy this now as prices will rise in the hotter months (same as fans and paddling pools!)
I think this hose is a great design concept, it saves a lot of space and it’s much quicker to reach places as it increases in length quickly. It also gives a good flow of water.
I think those have reviewed it negatively are missing the design concept in general. You have to treat this in the same way as you would with a water balloon. It will stretch to a certain point before it bursts due to its elasticity and it not being rigid plastic like a standard, fixed length hose.
You can use it with pressure washers etc fine but you need to make sure the outflow (tap setting) is much lower. Essentially, you need to have the water being able to flow out/escape at the same rate or higher than it is coming out of the tap. Otherwise it will keep increasing in size and will split (just like a balloon!). For that reason, if you are one of those people who turns on a hose and leaves it on with the water gun not turned on then the water will just build up, the hose will expand and eventually will burst. If you are not using the water, turn the tap off quickly. If you can’t do that then this hose is not suitable for you as you are essentially playing a game of a filling up a water balloon with the unreasonable expectation that it should never burst. If that’s your view, it doesn’t matter which brand you get, an expandable hose would not be right for you.
If you have, how can i put this (?!), ‘good hose etiquette’ and don’t leave taps running or try to pump water into a pressure washer quicker than it can take it then I would think this hose would last a good amount of time.
I’m not expecting this to last quite as long as, say, a 70-80 plastic fixed length hoze lock hose but, like I said at the beginning, I needed a replacement gun anyway and I thought it was worth spending another 10-15 more and trying a different hose type which I know will save me a time compared to having to unwind/rewind a longer hose everyday in the summer.
I got the 100ft version and I’m not sure there is much advantage in swapping this for your existing hose if you only need a very short version for a very small garden unless you are really limited on space/storage.
I will update my review if this breaks even after following my own usage guidance above but I was impressed with the quality of the components, the handy storage bag and it feels like a good quality product for very little money.
Arrived on time as quoted. Everything inside as required. Only used a couple of times but the 100ft is ample to reach my whole garden front and back, Didn’t use on full pressure on first time and eased the hose into unfolding by stretching gently before filling to help it attain full length. The spray gun seems of slightly better quality on the old XHose it replaced. Isolating the spray gun with a shutoff valve would take the pressure off the spray gun rather than using the gun’s off feature as I am sure that the guns are not able to take the pressure produced by the hose.
Gave 4* because of amount of use so far but all looks good.
Tip: if you are replacing a damaged or burst expanding hose don’t dump it! If you cut off the connectors (pair of scissors) and carefully remove the inner pipe by pulling it out whilst straightening out the outer nylon casing you will end up with a length of very stretchy elastic pipe which is ideal for cutting to length and using for supporting fruit treed and shrubs. It is soft enough to not cause damage to plants. You will also have a goodly length of nylon webbing to use as rope. Not sure of breaking strain but I guess a fair amount. So almost totally recycled. Save the world!
