This fireproof/waterproof safe box is perfect. It’s big enough to fit a lot of items in as well. I put most of my family’s photos in the plastic containers for safe keeping. I also like that you can lock the zippers in place to keep anyone from opening them up. Everything is now organized, tidy and safely stored Incase of an emergency.
Thank you!!!
We have a ton of photos in our house, mostly stored in boxes of various sizes; old family photos going back decades, maybe 1910s? They always say to grab your photos in case of a fire, as they’re irreplaceable. So that’s why I got this case, to protect all those family photos taken of/by my parents, grandparents, great grandparents (and whoever else is in there). This fireproof box holds a huge amount of photos, all together and in each small case. Might end up putting other things in the small cases besides photos. Each plastic case has a good simple latch, not going to pop open on its own. They’re a good size, will fit anything 4×6″ and under — we have a lot of old b&w photos that are about 2×3″ so keeping those in a case is good, because otherwise the smaller photos tend to get buried or bent. (Would’ve been nice if they’d included a larger case, like for 8x10s.) Double zipper moves smoothly. The handle is securely attached. There’s room enough on top of the plastic boxes to add an envelope with important documents or larger photos. Storage pockets on the lid are nice, but there are an awful lot of shallow pockets (18), presumably for credit cards? Think half that amount would’ve been fine, could’ve used the other half for a deeper vertical mesh pocket. Don’t plan on using the lock but it’s nice to have that option. This feels very sturdy, the sides are strong; it isn’t going to crush easily. I’m not going to test it with a blow torch, so I’m trusting that it is in fact as fireproof as they claim. Only hope I never have to find out! I’ve known people who have lost everything in a house fire, or other disaster, and losing photos is always heartbreaking, it’s about the memories as well.
No pics for me. I use this for my vast and growing sticker collection. With all the different boxes I can organize any old way I want and the clear box makes it simple to see what’s inside.
Box is sturdy. Zippers are strong. Ver cool lock, just in case there are sticker thieves around.
The best box any sticker could hope to be stored in!
I feel very confident that my pictures will be safe in these. I have not set the case on fire or thrown in a pool but, it is a sturdy case with plenty of boxes that hold so many 4×6 pictures that I can’t keep count. Also, the plastic boxes shut securely. Even filled to the max.
Positives:
Photo cases are very helpful for organization, even if used for other things
Pockets at the top
Material feels very nice quality
Comes with labels for the boxes
Negatives:
None!
Review:
This is a really nice safe. The lock on it isn’t really meant to withstand someone getting into it, it’s just meant to deter others from trying. If you were getting it for max security, I’d choose another item. However, this one does its job very well. I’m pretty happy with it. I was able to take out the photo organizer boxes to make space for some other items, and it worked well. The boxes are also nice quality and stay latched well. Highly recommended!
This fireproof photo storage box is well made. I have not yet gotten a chance to put my photos in it yet, but there is plenty of room. I love how each individual box is capable of storing a huge amount of photos (80+). It will be great to be able to organize them by subject and approximate date. The case is extremely well made and the zipper is of the highest quality. Even though the case is soft sided, it is rigid enough to provide a lot of protection. I really hope I never have to find out if it can stand up to fire or not. The lid of the case has slots to store camera cards and flash drives. Not only are all of my photos in the same place but they are protected from heat, light and moisture which are a photo’s natural enemy! This photo storage case is well made and is well worth the asking price.
So far, I am very satisfied with this fireproof photo storage box. It fits all of my 4×6 photos perfectly. I have not yet tested the fireproofing capabilities, but I plan to do so in the future and will update this review with my findings. I wish it had come with larger cases for my 5×7 and 8×10 photos. That would have been awesome.
When I received this item I was kinda shocked at how much room was inside. I had gotten this case for glass slides I brought a while back to store them in and I gotta say it stores them nicely. They are nice and tight so that they aren’t sliding around everywhere and breaking.
Our family experienced a fire several years ago. Since that time, I’ve wanted to find a storage solution that would protect important photos and documents in an emergency but that would also be easier to transport than a safe. I was pleased to find this very well made photo/document storage box. I own a similar style photo storage case that is made strictly of plastic but which also has the individual 4 x 6 photo storage boxes. This case is so much more sturdy. The outer shell is made of what the company describes as a mix of silicon and fiberglass. The zippers are very strong with sturdy metal pull tabs to close the box securely. This case can be locked for security but I don’t see myself needing that feature at this time. If you don’t need the case to store photos, you could easily remove the plastic 4×6 cases and use the box for storing files, documents, and ledgers. It’s very versatile and well made. I didn’t try to light the case on fire myself, but it would appear should resist fire well based on the materials used to make it.
This is well made, so may little bins to organize photos and tabs to mark them accordingly. The individual clear photo bins hold prob 30us photos. I was able to condense 2 big bins of phots into this and still had room left over. I have created so much more space now in my closet because of this simple thing. Highly recommend!!
This box is exactly what I didn’t know I needed. I have a lot of old photos from my parents and other family members that are sentimental and precious. Back in the day, we didn’t have digital photos. You actually took a picture with a camera with film that had to be developed. Then depending on where you got the film developed, you had to wait for days to see the pics. I also have a bunch of photos that I took(the old fashioned way) growing up that need to be protected. What a great solution to keep my old printed photos and digital content in one place. The case is also fireproof but, hopefully, I’ll never find out. This does however, give me some extra piece of mind about keeping these precious memories safe. This case will hold a huge amount of photos, negatives, post cards, etc. It can be used for just about anything that will fit in the included boxes(like old projector film).
I recently ordered the fireproof photo storage box as a motivation to get my physical prints organized. I’m showing my age here, but, I have a large bin of photos, really large and need to really thin out what I have. This case is larger than I imagined, which works out for me. I was immediately impressed with the quality of the material. Some of the seam areas seem loose but its not a deal breaker. The interior cases are a lightweight plastic. I do worry about the closure tab breaking after several openings but will update if they don’t last. I like that the inside of the lid has some netting for things like negatives, sd cards, external hard drives, flash drives, and the like. Of course, you can remove the plastic containers and use this to store other items. I wish there were larger plastic containers for those old 8×10 or 11×14 photos that could maybe be stored on the bottom of the other containers. But, if you have a lot of important documents or photos, this is a nice storage solution.
OK, I have to confess that I’m not sure who actually deals with hundreds of paper photographs anymore. If you do, this case should be mandatory as a means to protect those memories. For the rest of us who have gone digital, this is still quite useful.
You see, photo storage aside, this fireproof storage box is large enough it can hold and protect all sorts of valuables. Think about all of your important papers (birth certificates, marriage certificate, car titles, mortgage, etc.), any electronic storage (flash drives, CD/DVD discs, etc.), old letters, or even any small mementos or such. You simply remove all of the plastic photo boxes from this case and you have a huge box that you can use for all sorts of things. (And you could even organize other small items in those photo boxes, too.)
Like others, I have no way of verifying if this storage box is actually fireproof. Nor do I know how hot it gets inside the box in the event it is subjected to fire. I wish there was an external lab certification or something the manufacturer could get and share to help demonstrate 3rd party attestation to the fireproofing.
One thing to go in is the feel. The outside of the box does have a unique texture to it so I tend to believe it is protected. Just not sure how well. The storage box also has a simple 3 digit combination lock that you can set to your own combination, if you wish.
Having a single portfolio with all of you most important items to grab in the case of a fire is important. Having that box be fireproof is far, far better. This is a good item to consider as a sort of insurance policy to keep your items safe.
This photo storage case is pretty awesome. It’s made of great quality material. Very sturdy. I had over 1000 pictures and every single one fit in the plastic containers and I had 3 left over! It comes with sticker labels to mark them as you want. It has a zippered pouch on the inside, this is where I stored my bigger pictures (5×7 and 8×10’s). It has a combination lock if you want to make sure no one gets into your case. Definitely worth the price!
his is a great organizer for all those pictures we used to take before digital. The plastic cases inside are just plastic ones like you see at any craft shop, they do hold a lot of pictures though, I didn’t think I had that many pictures but it is sure nice to have a place to put them when I find them around the house. the case comes with labels too so you can sort out the pictures better. I have one case with just my husband and I and one with us and friends and one with just family and so on. Great to have when your looking for that one picture that you know you have. The case itself is very sturdy and it has a nice handle for carrying it around or moving it somewhere. I’m trying to clear out a storage unit and my house so I’m all about organizers and this one is worth it.
Even if this weren’t fireproof, it is a great storage solution for photos and claims to hold 1800 of them which is probably all I should ever want to store! There are a lot of little storage containers, which means I can separate and categorize my photos and label them so that I actually can find them when I want them. In addition, there are some storage pockets in the lid where I can put my thumb drives for pictures that I’ve started to accumulate in the last decade or so.
There really is nothing I don’t like about this. Plus, it claims to be fireproof, which is true would be pretty amazing to have a lsvsecurity in case I ever have a fire again. I had one once and lost a bunch of stuff but thankfully not most of my pictures. even so it’s pretty hard to lose things you cherish for the memories.
PS. For the record, I’m not doubting that it’s fireproof, just stating that I have not tested it and won’t be. I have looked at the company’s reputation, and it does seem like they’re pretty legit, so I have cautious faith
I recently had some flooding in my basement that ruined some of my old stored photos. An Event like this is enough to get me to rethink how I am storing my keepsakes. The photos that didn’t get in the path of the flood needed a new method for storage. I have since placed all the 4×6 photos inside the plastic containers into this well designed box set. I feel much more assured by the plastic containment along with the entire fireproof and waterproof box itself as a double protective layer.
The kit comes with 18 plastic boxes inside, which is enough to sort and keep my loose family photos safe. It’s nice to have the 18 separate compartments with labels included to keep the photos organized.
The box comes with a built in combination lock. For me this is not necessary as I am only protecting the photos from the elements and they don’t have any monitary value. But I can see this coming in handy if you keeping something value inside.
In the past I had cumulitively thrown photos randomly into cardboard boxes. Not only does this box system help keep things organized but it provides two layers of protection from disasters.
I already own two of these, which are just cases for the photo cases with smaller containers inside, and they are fine. But this one really gives additional thoughts to archiving memories. The inside top lid offers a variety of pockets and even a zippered compartment to hold a few larger photos or documents, usb drives, SD cards or other relatively flat items. The plastic containers inside hold photos up to 4″ x 6″ and can be used to group and categorize photos. It comes with white sticky labels for marking the clamshell containers.
The zippers run smoothly. There’s a lock mechanism that is mostly for show: most people will easily either reset it or just tear the soft case apart or carry it away to get the contents if they really want it. I guess it will keep your ten-year-old out of the thing.
This is well thought out and offers a better solution to the problem WHAT DO I DO WITH ALL MY PRINTED PHOTOS?
