It does the job and great if you have an Xerox printer. You can buy cheaper, but if you can afford an Xerox printer, then are you worried about buying cheaper paper? You get around five packs of 500 sheets, I have not taken them out to count, but that is a guestimate. I will never run out of paper that is for sure. I am using on the Xerox B235 laser printer and I am happy with the quality of print.
Order 10 boxes. Each pair of boxes was so tightly bound by sellotape all over, it made them very difficult and time consuming to open. Suggest shrink wrap would be a lot easier.
Arrived within 36 hours.
This time I was lucky – the outer box was fine, the paper was fine, but every ream’s paper wrapping was torn and exposed a lot of paper. If you saw it stored in a stationery cupboard you’d think someone had got in and literally let rip. For my 2016 and 2014 purchases the wrapping paper was unsealed so the ends and part of the main “seam” flopped open with a little nudging – would’ve spilled the paper if not careful – perhaps Xerox are economising on glue.
So I suggest you order for the quality of the paper and hope that you get lucky as regards packaging. For all my purchases (2021 2016, 2014) the paper itself was fine, but I’ve just read customer reviews and far too many customers suffered damaged paper too.
Xerox, use better glue, sack Wolverine, sort out the packaging, and you could earn 5 stars.
This paper is not bright white, which might be a plus for some people. I had some printing issues at the start but have since found that it seems to have one side that prints better than the other. It might be infinitesimally smoother, although it’s hard to tell. If this is the case then it would be helpful to have the packaging marked to indicate the best printing side. I wasn’t able to find any markings. However, now that I have the right side it prints well and is good quality 80 gsm paper for general printing or photocopying purposes.
GRAMMAGE QUERIES: I am a former paper industry employee. Paper is sold by weight usuallys gsm2 (Grammes per m2). Different 80gm2 papers from different mills can have quite some variance in caliper ie thickness but still be 80gm2. It depends on the machine, the pulp used and other factors, that’s why some 80gm2 paper feels thicker or thinner than others. The colour is to do with the optical bleaching agent used in manufacture to obtain whiteness. Some give a ‘pink’ white others a ‘blue or grey’ white. Hope that helps explain.
When having received the product, I did notice that the packaging has changed slightly: previously the reams were wrapped into paper wrapping, now it looks like to be plastic foil. I made a quick calculation based on the numbers on the ream packaging (500 sheet, 210mm x 297mm), therefore (ignoring the wrapping foil) it should be 2.4948 kg per ream. I hence took the ream and weighed it on my precision kitchen scale, and it weighed it as…. 2.448 kg. The error tolerance on the scale was 1g over 5 kg, so the difference cannot be attributed to the measurement error.
Hence I can confirm, that I either have 5 reams of <80gsm paper OR a broken kitchen scale. Since measured other reference items (eg 1kg of plain flour), I think it's the paper which is not 80 GSM. But in fairness, the above weight of the ream means that the paper is 78.49 gsm, which is still acceptable for me.
TL;DR: paper is indeed not 80gsm, but generally okay. It's approximately 78.5gsm
Heavy package delivered in super quick time and at a price hard to beat. I did keep this in my shopping basket for a few weeks before ordering and the price fluctuated often and considerably. When the time was right I placed my order and bingo lots of paper to scrunch up into balls during the process of writing my latest novel.
There is nothing I can fault with the quality of the paper or the thickness. As far as I can tell it is what is advertised although I have no instrument or inclination to measure the thickness anyway?
Just to clarify this is a big box of five reams. Each ream is a packet of 500 sheets so you get 2,500 sheets of paper.
For the environmentally aware paper buyer it doesn’t rate very well with just 1 out of 5 stars on the “green star system”.
The weight of the paper is 80gsm which means that you will be able to see the reverse print if you print double sided. It doesn’t bleed through so much to distract you from reading. For reports and you may want to use something else. But for general purpose printing in house it is perfect.
Nothing to fault. So why only four stars? Well, it only gets one star on the Green Star System – this means that the process wasn’t highly rated on the good for the environmental scale. I didn’t know this when I purchased it… I just saw the quantity and the price and pressed ‘purchase’. This might not bother you at all, but for some it might be enough to put them off a purchase. For others, 2500 sheets of A4 paper at such a low price offers irresistible value. Either way, this is great paper.
