The Carpuride w901 Pro Wireless Apple Carplay & Android is easy to install and easy to use in the car, no need to remove the old stereo. It is easy to connect iphones and android phones through Bluetooth or via wires. It has a good sized screen and is very responsive. The sound quality actually goes on the sound quality that is in your car so if you have good quality speakers then the sound is going to be good. The remote control works well, we are waiting for a friend to fit the rear view camera so there won’t be wires everywhere.
Ideal bit of kit for the car without having to remove the stereo, you will need and aux socket in your car.
Works well
Great responsive screen
Easy to use and easy to install

I have a fairly basic Hyundai i10 that only has a small display showing time or radio station and have been using my phone for GPS, but the screen is too small and too dark for a satisfactory GPS display. My single objective in getting this Carpuride w901 Pro was to get a decent GPS system that was easy to see and easy to use and it has more than met my expectations. I have not yet fitted the reversing camera and will leave that until the better weather and longer daylight hours as I do not have a garage.
I’m not a keen DIYer, so I had some trepidation about fitting the Carpuride w901 Pro, but the manual was helpful, as were the screen prompts, and it was up and running with no real problems and in a shorter time than I had expected. I used the suction cup bracket to mount the screen as it let me cover the pretty much useless dashboard display I have and does not infringe my view of the road. It is also easy to remove, which is a big plus.
The screen and display are great. The sensor that automatically brightens and dims the display to suit the lighting conditions works better than I anticipated and I didn’t know how really useful the remote control is until I fitted it. The w901 Pro is a big upgrade to my car and I’m delighted with it.
The quality, fitting options, ease of assembly and ease of connection of this kit exceeded my expectations and the end result is great.
It’s a lot cheaper than other more popular apple carplay products, but it still does an amazing job. It’s easy to set up and use each time, and the screen makes maps so easy to see, especially for long journeys.
Wasn’t sure what to expect with this, but was quite pleased overall

This ia a good way to add technology to a slightly older vehicle that is lacking it. For me the most useful features are being able to use Waze, Spotify, and Siri while driving. It’s a nice large screen for using as a satnav, a good clear screen for playing your favourite tunes, and you can reply to text messages easily etc. I love that a steering wheel control pad is included as it’s much safer and less distracting than reaching over and playing with the touch screen. You can answer and end calls with ease for example
–
The reversing camera pays for itself if it’s something you will use as to have one installed another way would cost a fortune. It’s easy enough to install and setup with the provided rear camera (there’s lots of rubber in cars to hide the cable away and it’ll be virtually unnoticeable if done well).

Although good, you should make sure you will sue all the features to make the price justified. At 280 is isn’t cheap. Some features can be done other ways for less so make sure you need it all. Also, it will stand out the thieves so be aware if you plan on leaving it plugged in 24/7 and on display. Overall pretty good though
I was a bit sceptical considering the relatively low price of this kit, and the packaging doesn’t inspire much confidence either, but thankfully it outdid my expectations.
Here are my main highlights for this product:
Supports both Apple and Android
Comes with wideangle rear-view camera
Large 9-inch touchscreen display
All standard inputs and outputs are supported
Very responsive interface
Had some problems with calls
No DAB radio
Not the most attractive physical setup

As you can see there are a large amount of great things and just a couple of negatives. The first thing that strikes you when it boots up is the quality of the screen. It is 9 inches of IPS loveliness, and even though the resolution is only 1024 x 600, it looks much better than that would suggest. It has great contrast and even video looks excellent. It also has auto-brightness to alter the brightness depending on the ambient light level, which saves you having to mess about with the controls every few minutes when going through the city. It’s the best in-car screen I have tried, and I’ve been through a few over the years.
The interface is quick and accurate, like a decent smartphone. I remember the first touchscreen systems and how laggy they used to be; this is on a different planet.
The physical in-car setup may be a problem for many people, I would say that if you aren’t confident in what you are doing then don’t try, just get someone who knows what they are doing to have a go. It is possible to get it looking very professional with a bit of effort.
This is overall a quality bit of kit for comparatively little money (220 with Amazon voucher). Compared to the price you would pay for a similar name-brand kit, this is very reasonable. Of course, longevity is the real question. Will it still be working in a couple of years time? It seems to have decent build quality, but you never know what’s actually inside the housing. Decent components or cheap rubbish? Only time will tell. I will update when appropriate.
This has a large 8 1/2 inch colour screen and remote control that fits onto the steering wheel. What is easy to connect to my phone (Samsung A22) so ideal very accurate sound is flawed, not yet connect to the reversing camera as I need to find a route from the back of the car to the unit, but so far very impressed
I tried the older version carplay from Carpuride so I was interested to see how this one compared and it is a big improvement, These carplay’s are a really good improvement for the older cars and I found the 9″ screen is around the best size, It is best if you can have it hard wired into the car but you can just plug it into the 12v socket, The touchscreen on this is the biggest improvement and is responsive, The audio is not the best from it’s speakers so it is best if you plug into a aux and use the cars speaker system, The picture from the camera is good but to be honest I didn’t fit this as it just seemed to be too much wiring in for me but I may do that at a later date, The system does take a min to boot up as I have experienced with all carplay systems, It connects to my phone every time with no problems at all, The steering wheel control is a nice improvement that works very well and looks smart, It has so many function there is too much to list and say really but overall this is a massive improvement on there older version and works very well and is best if you have it fully hard wired in but not needed, at the moment there’s a 60 voucher you can apply making it a very good buy for what you get in the kit.
We got this for our teenage sons car after he’d just passed his test as we wanted an in car navigation system which meant that hopefully he wouldn’t be using his actual hone whilst driving.
He found this unit to be very useful in his little car although we did have to screw it to the dashboard after it came loose on a roundabout.
Al the usual features are included including navigation and music controls which gives the feel of a premium product despite if obviously not being. The ability for hands free control is preferential when driving and it also gives us peace of mind.
This is a great piece of equipment for being able to control phone calls, your music, navigation and many more features within the car. It really does take the car experience to another level and make life a lot easier while driving.
Setting this unit up was incredibly easy. Once plugged in it connected to my phone via Bluetooth and it was away to go. The included remote and reversing camera work well although to get the camera working best it needs to be hardwired to kick in when I reverse. It’s something that I’ll be arranging as the unit itself is fantastic and is a permanent fixture in the car.
This has turned out to be great for my 2009 Ford Fiesta!
Have used it on several long journeys now and the large screen is brilliant for sat nav. Using Waze and it is excellent clear mapping with great info on upcoming hazards and speed cameras. The bigger screen is so much easier to read and sits well where my phone used to sit and doesn’t obstruct the window view at all. The Android Auto has big clear buttons and responsive touch screen so it all feels very safe to use.
While there are some good options for installing on the dash or suction to windscreen, I am able to attach it to my already installed sturdy phone holder on the dash as the base to attach is a size/shape to fit this OK.
Phone (Samsung A13) connects with no issue within a few seconds of powering on, and I have got Spotify working well as that is pre installed (along with Deezer and some others). Don’t seem to be able to get BBC Sounds to work so that is a bit disappointing but will keep trying.
Also not managed to get it to connect to the Bluetooth auxiliary dongle I use to play my phone through the car speakers. So music is only through the device at the moment. The sound is actually pretty good but not as rich as through car speakers. Will have to try the FM option. There will be a way!!!
Charges my phone at same time.
The steering wheel control needs no wires or set up and attaches easily and securely with a rubber watch type strap. Controls volume, track skip/back and answer/hang up calls. Works perfectly.
You do need to remember to unplug it after as it continues to use the battery after the car engine has stopped. Also doesn’t fit in your pocket like using phone for satnav so you need to decide where to hide it when you leave the car!
I do not have the savvy to install the rear camera unfortunately although it looks fairly straightforward with time and patience.
Overall really happy with it and superb for long journeys.
I already had the 7″ version of this screen but being a tech nerd wanted the 9″ version and boy am I glad I got it. Nothing wrong with the 7″ one. Loved it. But the extra 2″ makes all the difference. Makes things easier to press. The screen can be super bright or dimmed to a more reasonable level. Automatically connects to my phone once it’s been paired and will do so every time it starts up. No need to do anything. So convenient! Nice and snappy to use and has a very loud speaker included if you don’t want to wire it into your cars aux port. Not able to test Apple CarPlay but Android Auto works flawlessly. This one even has an included reversing camera so you can have all the modern features you get in brand new cars in whatever car you like! Fantastic for bringing a bit of modern tech into an older vehicle. Lovely bit of kit and you don’t have to worry about vehicle specific adapters or replacing it when you change cars. Take it with you!
This is only really suitable for older models of cars or versions without CarPlay. The ease of use for CarPlay is admirable and the large screen is much easier to see than a mobile phone. You can connect this via bluetooth and hence makes any aux based cars bluetooth. The other thing is the connection via CarPlay or i-play where you can watch videos and use other apps on the device. The touchscreen is very responsive and the quality is great!
I have found it very easy to set up. Stick the mount to the dashboard and clip in the screen. Connect the power supply and the aux cable and you’re ready to go. If you aren’t a fan of bluetooth than keep a cable that connects to your phone so that it can be connected instantly (I actually prefer this).
Having this as an extension to your cars media means that it makes it very tempting to thieves. The mount allows this to be removed very easily (with a click) and so can be kept in the glove compartment.
All in all very handy screen that can make your car smart and may be the reason that you delay buying a new car!
This device works well having a good size screen and generally good performance. Comes with good options for mounting in the car and cabling etc. Has a nice display, but just a bit too reflective unfortunately.
Once setup with my Android mobile, connections were stable and without any real issues using Android Auto. Sound quality is fine for speech, music not so much, so you will want to connect this if possible to your car stereo. My car does not have Aux in or Bluetooth so i had to use the FM option which works but is not the best and there is always some interference on the fm channel, not necessarily the fault of the Carpuride though. But overall this is a good car display option that works generally well, is well made but a little bit expensive perhaps.
This was easy to set up it’s easy to remove when not in use the screen is a great size with great resolution the touch screen responds well. You have plenty of apps to choose from and comes with a remote that works well and a great addition. Comes with a reversing camera which we are not using so can’t really comment on that as our car already has one.
We have an older year and whilst it has an older sat nav, it is not really great and the screen is very small, this one is much larger with a 9-inch screen and is very responsive. I was a bit worried about fitting this in my car but really after watching a few videos, we were able to mount this to the dashboard.
I have an iPhone and it paired very easily with this device so all of my Apps are now on the screen and I can use the mirroring feature as well. This device also comes with the reversing camera, which I have not fitted as yet, but may go to my local mechanic to do so, though, my husband may have a go at doing it shortly, as having a camera at the back is really good to have.
With Bluetooth I can now talk to Siri and also see my message just like on my phone, there are lots of other great features and I strongly recommend you watch some videos but I am learning more about this as I am using my car, but it already has made a big difference in seeing this screen and hearing music.
So really it is only the price which I need to consider, I know that you can buy this for much less than what is being asked at the time of writing this review, so you should find it a bit cheaper. Therefore, in my view, it is an excellent device the touch screen is very good and clear and it is easy to install as well, so I am giving it five stars.
If you don’t mind the relatively unknown brand, this is actually quite a good head unit that you can stick on your dash if you have space, or fix to the CD player slot if you have one. It enables full Android Auto capabilities without having to take your dash apart and install a head unit, so not so great if you want an integrated unit with amps, speakers etc. It’s also comparable in price to some named brand low end models, so not exactly cheap.
Performance is where it shines, it boots faster than my current no name brand unti, without a tacky startup screen straight into the menu, and then to the Android Auto screen. It’s comparable to my Road Angel unit with Bluetooth extension, so quite impressed. Mounted in the CD slot, I noticed it blocked he air vents, so a space on the dash would be better for me. The display is bright enough, not particularly sharp at 1080p, but good enough. You have all the features, aux-out, camera in (not included), mic in, USB A port for a USB stick music or connecting your phone if you don’t want to use Bluetooth.
It’s definitely a step up from my old one, faster, bigger and more professional, even if the reverse camera and external microphone isn’t included. I’d have no issues upgrading to this unit if I didn’t want to tear my dashboard apart.
I had an older version installed in my car already but was excited to swop it over for this new model with touchscreen and a much larger screen.
It was relatively easy to install using the mount provided , however I did get the garage to fit it and set up was easy once that was done – it contacted to my phone straight away and was really easy to connect via Bluetooth.
It’s a big screen and the touchscreen is brilliant – really easy to play music, make calls or use the sat nav.
Really like this new version.
Considered this after finding out the extortionate price my main car dealer wanted to replace a built in radio with defective touchscreen and doing some research on alternate product reviews. Great value for money. Fitted easily with the options provided in the box. Easily connects via Bluetooth and works seamlessly with my Android phone. Quick boot up and automatically goes straight into what was last playing. Great service provided by Carpuride who provided a bin file with my preferred logo boot up screen. Fantastic product and service.
This touchscreen Apple CarPlay infotainment system definitely has exceeded my expectations because it works much better than I expected. It’s very easy to set up and install it into the car and I was able to do this quite quickly. It works very smoothly with my iPhone 13 promax, and I’ve not had any technical difficulties at all. I like how responsive the touchscreen is and then it’s easy for me to navigate. The display is very high quality because it’s crisp, clear and the colours are nice and bright. It’s easy for me to keep clean and I like how strong sturdy and durable it is. The size of the screen is wonderful and it’s not too big or bulky, plus it stays steadfast and secure in place whilst I’m driving. The maps and navigation all work brilliantly and it’s easy for me to follow. I really enjoy being able to play my own music and I’ve not had any issues with doing that. I like that the sound quality is very good and it has a nice deep bass which is perfect for my drum and bass music. I can also adjust the brightness which is helpful. I feel the value for money is excellent and I highly recommend it.
I had my doubts, I won’t lie. But after a bit of research it sounded like Carpuride was the best brand out the bunch of portable CarPlay units.
I also have an iPhone 14 pro and I did wonder if it would be worthwhile , as I’ve always used automations and Siri, with the phone placed on a MagSafe charger on a vent holder.
With this, I expected laggy and slow, but I didn’t get any of that. The boot up is pretty quick. The initial connection between the unit and my phone was extremely easy with no issues. It defaulted to the CarPlay mode and everything was ready.
Both holders are not great for my car , I don’t want it high on my dash as I’m a new driver and I don’t want to mess about. I’ve chosen to stick the flat stand holder on the front my current in car stereo. It’s big enough that I’m not worried about it being angled towards me.
I disabled the unit speaker immediately, I hear it’s not great and I connect with aux (my car has no Bluetooth) the cable is long, but I am going to get an ultra short aux cable and I won’t even see it due to the placement of the unit.
Sometimes I see reports of having issues with Siri. I’m on ios17 beta and I have no problems (you just say “Siri” now) Siris feedback seems to be through aux too.
Maps is flawless, Waze is running perfect too. At first the navigation voices were very quiet vs the music. I’ve since discovered if you choose the volume in CarHome , and select the bars to the right of the volume slider, it gives you further options for navigation volume. Balance both for a perfect volume
Message announcements work great.
Mic audio was an issue in reviews but Siri heard me plenty. I still need to try calls but I’m not a fan of chatting while driving. I tried replying to a text and it worked perfectly.
The interface is slick, I can’t fault any of this. I now realise how much easier it is to change between maps and music , and Siri works better than she did on phone alone (bizarre)
If you want a minimalist unit that works well with Apple, with no wires, and no need to upgrade your car radio with the cost of fitting, new facias etc, this is it.
I was actually really impressed with this Carpuride 9 inch screen.
Having a slightly older car i don’t have access to things like Apple Carplay or Android Auto so it was really nice to see that i just had to plug in the 12v plug & pair my phone via Bluetooth & it was pretty much ready to go.
I have a android so went through the Android auto setup & it was all really straight forward to get everything set up by following the on screen prompts.
Only took me a few minutes & everything was set & ready to go.
I didn’t think i was going to be able to have the sound come out cars speakers as i don’t have a AUX port or anything on the standard audio equipment so was really surprised when i opened my music app to hear it come out the car speakers & the only cable i had connected was the 12v power.
But was even more surprised when i opened the EQ on the screen & had a little play with the settings as it made my car sound better than ever before & like i had a subwoofer in the boot, although if you go to high in the settings it did start to distort a little due to only having standard factory speakers installed, but just a little tweak made it sound awesome.
The maps worked really well too & i love that you can have it in satellite view as well as it looks so much nicer & modern.
I also liked that you could have maps in full screen with a swipe or have the audio as half the screen too.
The touch screen seemed pretty responsive & everything all seemed to work really well.
I also like that you have the option to add rear view camera to the screen which is something i’ve never had before & would really help bring my car up to modern standards.
The only negative i got i wouldn’t want to leave the screen out on show at all times & there isn’t a storage case for when its not in use, but other than that i thought it was amazing.
If you have the space in your car then this is a great media option for older cars that don’t have any modern tech.
Pros:
You can run android auto/apple car play in a car that doesn’t have this built in
It’s a touch screen – so you get maps and access to the apps through android auto/apple car play
You get voice controls
Cons:
It needs to be plugged in to run – it’s a shame it isn’t rechargable.
It’s big, you need to be able to find a decent space on your dash area to keep it. I have an older fiat 500 and it doesn’t sit nicely on the curved dash
Ok, I actually like the idea of this screen upgrade for an older car, where potentially you dont want to, or can’t,upgrade the radio itself.
Now the best bits are.
1. A nice clear touchscreen which you can clearly see maps and apps run ftom your mobile phone.
2. The ability to play media from bluetooth devices and other storage devices.
3. A very nice EQ for sound output.
Now the negatives.
1. Its huge on a dashboard and difficult in some cars to find a location.
2. Its a big theft magnet if left connected on the dash.
3. A pain to integrate with a current car radio. Either wired which is ugly or via unsecured fm transmitter.
4. The fm transmission is not private so anyone can listen in to your phone calls.
5.fm can be patchy in some vehicles, with the potential for interference from local radio as you travel.
In all the idea of the unit is great and it kind of works. But there are some required improvements needed to integrate it better.
A good device to give an extra to our car if it is a bit old and does not have a screen to connect the mobile phone. This kit has a good size screen that allows us to use Android Auto (or Apple) and thus be able to see Maps, music, calls… in a safer (and legal) way than with the mobile phone.
The installation is quite simple, and once we have them all installed the appearance of the car is better, having a complete system. It is important to remember that the device has to be connected to the power supply at all times as it does not have a battery.
The screen works very well and responds quickly. The connection to the mobile phone is also fast and there is no noticeable lag. The applications also run smoothly and stably.
This is great for older cars which have none of the technology people with new cars would take for granted! At 9″ the screen is large, and finding a spot for it was a bit of a problem- avoiding airbag covers etc, but we covered the existing built in CD player. It looked a little messy with the wires etc but it worked immediately, and was very easy to set up and connect with Bluetooth and then Carplay on my android phone. The map function was especially clear on such a large screen, and it was great to be able to take calls hands free. The sound quality wasn’t fantastic, but you do have the option to run in through your own cars speakers. As an add on you can buy a rear camera, and this would make it a pretty fab piece of equipment.
This vehicle tablet/head unit upgrade is a pretty decent way to add more features to a vehicle but you don’t want to or are unable to fit a double din head unit. Once fitted it gives the look of a modern dash mounted tablet entertainment/satnav system without the exorbitant price tag most of them cost, you get easy to access music, Google maps, Waze etc. with a compatible connected phone, I’m using the android platform so can only comment on that side of it but it’s compatible with apple too should that be your preference, either way once connected it works pretty well, the touchscreen is reasonably accurate and with very little delay.
The apps work pretty well allowing a good size for easy navigation and allowing music to be played at the same time, I’ll try to connect a reversing camera at some point and update as necessary as to how good it works but it’s handy having the option. The sound quality is as expected for the price, it’s acceptable but not amazing, connected through an aux cable you get reasonable stereo sound, through FM you get slightly less clear audio and occasional interference as expected.
For vehicles without built in infotainment systems and single din stereo slots this is a reasonable option for adding some extra functionality at a reasonable price, the build quality is reasonable and reflective of the cost, it’s not going to compete with high end units and you get what you pay for, it’s a decent enough little unit with enough features to warrant the upgrade and as it’s easily removed can be transferred between vehicles should you change them.
My car (FRV) is a bit dated and doesn’t have the benefits of time in relation to its technical offerings.
Here enters this device. With a huge screen (7″), I actually found it a bit intimidating, taking up a lot of space on my dash.
It’s very easy to set up and use, the integrated speaker isn’t the best but is ok for stationary traffic. I didn’t try it in moving traffic but I expect I won’t hear much.
It’s good quality and is basically a bigger phone in your dash. I didn’t try the aux line in to connect it to my stereo either.
Overall 4/5 if this is your thing. Otherwise it’s not really offering anything a phone doesn’t already do.
Some of these come with a rear camera, this one doesn’t so factor that into your decision.
Unusually, the screen works with iOS and Android. That said, Android needs to be at least Android 11 with 5GHz WiFi, although WiFi will connect to earlier Android. A ligtning cable connection to an iPhone installs Car Play. As our car has a media system and I didn’t wan’t to discharge the car battery, I set up the Carpuride with a 12 volt supply from a mains adapter. The Carpuride unit quickly picked up the Wifi and Bluetooth from a Samsung Tablet and, also the wired connect from an iPhone. However, neither WiFi or Bluetooth would connect to either of Windows 10 and 11 on my computers. It would be usefull to read Word documents if travelling for business, but that didn’t work. I also tried playing a video from a USB, but it was blocked from running as I hadn’t set the parking brake (a good safety feature). That would mean that passegers couldn’t watch a video. Music via a USB was too quiet and definately needs the “Loud” Eq to be switched in. Although the supplied mounting brackets are sturdy, the clip-in slots at the rear of the screen could be easily dislodged if you aren’t careful.
The Carpuride has good potential but it didn’t match my expectations. It would be useful to read Word documents in the car and, also use it as a secondary monitor for notes during an online meeting on the main computer screen.
