This was a very nice charging cable “Type 2” and comes with a very nice carrying bag. Seems very well made and durable. Well priced compared to the alternates on the market.
We have been using this charging cable for a while now and it is proving to be very reliable. The cable is long enough to connect to my charging point in the drive or when charging from other places. The cable seems to be sturdy and well-made. I have been using this in dry and rainy conditions and it proved to be flawless so far!
There is a nice carrying bag and cloth with the cable which is very handy.
All in all, very happy with this cable.
This is a decent 7kwh EV charger.
The connectors are sturdy and the cable looks well shielded.
It plugs in fine and I got the expected speeds from my home wall charger.
Considering the cost of original charging cables, this is a much more cost effective solution.
It’s a quality build with good connectors with enough length to be used on either side.
The storage bag it comes in keeps it nice and tidily stored away in the boot of the car too
This is really handy, I found the quality of the equipment to be extremely good and it performed just as I would have expected. Great storage bag which enhanced the usability of this cable, all in really good.
This is a good quality item, it feels very hard wearing / durable.
It comes with a bag to keep it tidy and protected in the boot.
It even comes with a cloth / towel to wipe down the cable before storing.
Very nice high quality charge cable for electric cars. Really good price but do check length as it comes in 3, 5 and 7 metre cables and if you need the extra length it’s worth going up to fit your needs if you think you’ll need it.
Comes with a soft case which feels like a nice premium touch, helpful to keep around if you don’t want to rely on other people’s cables to keep it tidy in the boot.
Quality of the cabling seems very good and don’t feel like any of the elements of the weather would get into it.
Good cable, well made and comes in a decent bag. Price is very reasonable too, charges well. Not a three phase charger but fits wall box and vw golf very well. Recommend
So as with most converts to electric the trick is to be able to charge your car easily.
The standard cable provided is way to short in most circumstances.
This 7m is perfect to be able to reach charging ports at my work place and also at home.
The charge is solid and constant and no dips in performance. Also comes with a nice storage bag to transport the cable and keep it tidy
The 5-meter length of the cable provides flexibility and convenience when it comes to reaching charging points. It’s long enough to ensure you can connect your vehicle without any hassle. The 11kW capacity of this cable is ideal for fast charging, allowing you to power up your electric vehicle quickly and efficiently. Whether you’re at home or using public charging stations, this cable ensures that you can get back on the road in no time.
This probably longer than average cable complete with case and strap are everything you would expect. It might not support the most amount of Amps and only be 11kW but if thats what your vehicle needs then this is perfect, no point spending more if you can’t take advantage of it unless you’re looking for something for the future. Price wise its around 100, just over at time of writing but with 20% off. This seems about fair based on others I’ve seen around, its a trade off between length and capacity I guess. Its durable and feels solid, well moulded connectors and can be used many times over.
The cable is 5M long, making it easy to access charging stations in most places. It is also three-phase and rated 16A, providing fast charging. The IP55 waterproof rating ensures that it can withstand any weather conditions. The cable is also compliant with the IEC-62196-2 standard, so it is compatible with all common charging stations and EVs.
I have been using this cable for a few weeks now and I am impressed by its performance. The cable is very sturdy and durable and can easily handle the power requirements of my car. It is also surprisingly flexible and can be bent and twisted without any issues. The 11kW charging speed is also quite impressive, allowing me to charge my car much faster than I was able to before.
Easy to use and high quality materials mean I don’t worry about this cable losing connection or damaging my charge port, plus the reasonable price means I am less concerned about theft also. If you have a larger car, the 3m may be an issue in some situations, but smaller cars can save money (and weight) by going with this smaller cable.
Not too stiff, and fits into a small included bag, this is easy to use and store. Had no issues, and would recommend it.
This 7m charger cable is a standard Type 2 cable for untethered charging stations (usually 3.5 or 7 or 11kW). The cable is rated at 11kW so will be able to handle all but the newer fast charging Type 2 public chargers which can go up to 22 kW. Anything over that is superfast DC charging and and the chargers have their own cables – CCS or Chademo. This cable is a decent price and robust construction and comes in a nice firm carry case. Worked perfectly with our 2 EVs – Kia and MB.
I got this with the sole intention of using it with my Audi EV. It has been an absolute pleasure to use. The cable is very thick, so the wiring does not suffer from any interference at all. The cable insertion is a great snug fit to the highest possible standard. With the cable being IP55 waterproof i don’t need to worry about the weather, so i can just leave it doing it’s thing. Highly recommended.
In a nutshell:
Things I liked:
+ Extremely effective – 11KW rated and 11KW delivered.
+ Feels extremely sturdy and well made.
+ Price – 88 for a 11KW cable seems extremely reasonable.
Things I didn’t like:
– 3m is a short cable and will restrict your parking options. It is cheaper and less cumbersome though.
Do I recommend it?
Yes. Well-built, decent value. I like a longer cable to be perfectly honest as it gives me more flexibility, but if you know you’re going to be parking close to your charger almost all of the time, I can see why you wouldn’t want to spend any more on extra cable that you don’t need.
Charged my new MG5EV with this. Works well. Charged in 3.5 hours whilst I sat at work.
Love the bag it comes in and the cloth to wipe it clean. Fits neatly in the car boot.
Ordered on Thursday evening and expected it to be delivered Tuesday. Was actually delivered on the Saturday, so much quicker than I’d expected, which was very helpful.
Good price at just over 100.

I recently acquired the AKESON Type 2 Charging Cable for my electric car, and I’m thoroughly impressed with its performance and build quality. Here’s why I believe it’s a must-have for electric vehicle owners:
First and foremost, the AKESON Type 2 Charging Cable offers compatibility with all common charging stations and EVs. This versatility ensures that no matter where you are or what electric vehicle you drive, you can rely on this cable for a seamless charging experience.
The 11kW power rating is fantastic. It supports fast charging, reducing the time it takes to recharge your electric car significantly. Whether you’re at home or using a public charging station, the 11kW capacity ensures you get back on the road quickly.
The 3-meter length is just right, offering flexibility without excessive cable clutter. It’s long enough to comfortably reach most charging ports but not so long that it becomes unwieldy.
The three-phase, 16A capability is a standout feature. It ensures efficient and stable power delivery, which is vital for preserving your vehicle’s battery life and ensuring consistent charging speeds.
IP55 waterproofing is a welcome addition. It provides peace of mind when charging in outdoor or less-than-ideal weather conditions. You can confidently use it without worrying about water damage.
The IEC-62196-2 standard compliance guarantees safety and reliability. It’s reassuring to know that the cable adheres to international standards for electric vehicle charging.
In summary, the AKESON Type 2 Charging Cable is a reliable and versatile accessory for electric car owners. Its compatibility, power capabilities, and durability make it an excellent investment to support your electric vehicle charging needs. It’s a must-have for hassle-free and efficient EV charging, whether at home or on the road.
What always amazes me about these cables is how much they cost, however the quality of this cable by Akeson is top notch. The solid materials and finish give you the feeling that this is worth the cost and during use I haven’t had any issues whether I use it at home or at a charge point in services etc. The 5M length is just right so I don’t need to worry about parking close or which side the cap is. Another thing I really like about this charging cable is the case it comes with as it folds up nicely in to it and the case itself is also of a high quality and makes it easy to carry and store. I’m very pleased with this cable and highly recommend it.
Very well made and sturdy charging cable. At 5 metres it should be plenty long for most situations.
Plugs fit solidly and I’ve had very issues charging that related to the cable.
I’ve been using the Type 2 Charging Cable for Electric Cars for a few months now, and I couldn’t be happier with its performance. As an electric car owner, having a dependable charging cable is crucial, and this product ticks all the boxes.
The 11kW charging capacity is a standout feature for me. It allows for faster charging times compared to lower-capacity cables, which is incredibly convenient for someone like me who’s always on the move. Whether I’m running errands or heading out for a road trip, the cable’s efficient charging capability helps minimize downtime.
The 5-meter length offers great flexibility, giving me ample room to position my car comfortably near charging stations. This extra length also comes in handy when the charging station is slightly farther away. I appreciate not feeling restricted by a short cable.
The three-phase compatibility is a big plus, especially for those with electric vehicles that can take advantage of three-phase charging. This feature further speeds up the charging process and ensures my car is ready to go in no time.
The 16A current rating is well-matched to the cable’s capacity and allows for a consistent and stable charging experience. I’ve noticed that this cable heats up less compared to some other cables I’ve used in the past, which gives me added confidence in its quality.
The IP55 waterproof rating is a relief, especially since I live in an area with unpredictable weather. I don’t have to worry about sudden rain showers damaging the cable or affecting its performance. This durability factor is a testament to the cable’s build quality.
The IEC-62196-2 compatibility assures me that this cable is designed to work seamlessly with a wide range of charging stations and electric vehicles. I’ve used it with different brands of charging stations and various EV models without any issues.
One aspect that really stood out to me is the attention to detail in the design. The cable is sturdy and well-constructed, with durable connectors that fit snugly and securely. The materials used feel premium and built to last.
In conclusion, the Type 2 Charging Cable for Electric Cars has exceeded my expectations in terms of performance, durability, and versatility. Its fast charging capabilities, ample length, and compatibility with various charging stations and EVs make it an essential tool for any electric car owner. I highly recommend this charging cable for its reliability and convenience — it’s made charging my electric vehicle a seamless and hassle-free experience!
This Akeson 5-metre Type-2 charging cable is a high-quality piece of kit. Build quality is robust, waterproofing is effective, length is ideal for most users (shorter or longer cables are also available from the same manufacturer), and performance is reliable. The 11kW 3-phase charging cable is much less likely to damage a battery than a fast-charging cable is (such as the 43kW 3-phase 63A varieties). With EV car batteries, just as with all other types of battery, trickle-charging is the way if you want to maximise the lifespan of your batteries.
According to the manufacturer, these 11kW charging cables can withstand being run over by vehicles of up to 2 tons. I believe this – the cable feels properly tough – but I wouldn’t recommend driving over the cable to put this to the test. The cable comes with a cleaning cloth and a zippable carry case. I recommend using these handy extras. Wiping down the cable after each use – even in dry weather – makes sure cable and connectors are dust free and grime free. Storing them in the carry case keeps them that way.
Good kit at a good price. An easy five stars.
I must say I am thoroughly impressed with this product. This cable’s compatibility with all common charging stations and EVs makes it incredibly convenient, and its user-friendly functions enhance the overall experience. The remarkable quality and thickness of the cable stand out, assuring me of its durability. Its performance has been exceptional, effortlessly handling the charging process. I’m hopeful that this cable will prove to be a long-lasting and reliable addition to my electric vehicle setup.
This is a quaility item, nice and sturdy. It feels like the kind of item that will last a long time. The charging speed is okay, not mega fast but also not what I’d consider slow. The length of the cable is pretty decent.
120 at time of review
Having recently been thrown into the world of EV charging, I realise you really need to have a spare cable in your boot! This is very nicely made, very nice quality and comes with a very good and useful storage case. It’s only 11KW so not rapid, but in my recent use case that was the limit of the charging station anyway so it wouldn’t have made any difference!
Hope my review was helpful
As Type 2 charging cables go, this Akeson-branded one is currently one of the cheapest available for the spec. It doesn’t come with any real bells and whistles (unless you count the cleaning cloth), but it’s functional and it charges my car at a consistent 7.5kW without any issues.
The connectors are simple, solid no-frills plastic affairs which fit well into my charging point and car. They feel sturdy enough, even if the housing of them isn’t quite as large as some other brands, which makes them feel just a little bit less durable. The cable thickness is average for what I’m used to.
The lack of any styling at all to the cable makes it look boring, which is harmless enough (unless there’s a debate at a charging station over whose is whose). The text printed along the length of the cable is reasonably discreet, and is the one thing that makes the cable look ugly rather than just plain, but it is at least practical.
The carrying case that it comes with is actually quite smart in charcoal grey rather than the usual black, and it’s a generously sized case which allows you to roughly coil the cable up in a hurry and still fit it back in the case, inside of it being a tight and precise squeeze. The zips are good and the carrying handle is sturdy. When I first opened the carrying case there was a very strong chemical smell that came out of it, but after a little bit of time airing the bag inside-out in the sunshine, thankfully that smell has now disappeared.
The cleaning cloth feels like an odd afterthought rather than a sensible part of the package, but it doesn’t do any harm, it could be useful at some point I guess, and at the very worst it’s a little bit of extra padding to keep the cable safe.
I have used charging cables that feel a bit more professional than this one- but they had price tags above a hundred quid, where this one is priced below that for the same changing spec. So on the basis that it’s a value item rather than a class leader, that’s why it warrants five stars- and my car has so far had no complaints with it.
This is a good quality ergonomically designed electric vehicle charger cable, complete with a handy storage case, and rubber end protectors for the plugs. The cable is not too heavy and it is very easy to connect. Charging was easy. Complete with a comprehensive set of instructions (in very small print )
And a handy clean down cloth.
I would happily recommend.
