Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersLa Boox Air Note 3C es un magnfico dispositivo.

Poor battery life for an e-ink device, but if you don’t mind charging it every other day you’ll be all right. The benefits of super-refresh are hard to ignore.

Update: I have found in real world usage that if you read deeply on this device, as in open a PDF and just read, and don’t flit about web pages or write constantly, the processor does eventually clock right down and battery drain falls precipitously. I’ve measured it. So you can get a lot more mileage from the 3C if it’s used as an ereader. However it’s pretty inconsistent and fluctuates, unlike the NA2+ which will go the distance unless you run multimedia on it.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is a game-changer.

I would recommend this to anyone who reads a lot and likes to write notes while reading. PDF works perfectly. The interactive features are excellent and being able to keep it all in one place is just amazing.

The only minus is the battery life which is not great, I read that the previous one wasn’t that bad but yes that is something you have to get used to, the pen provided is great, I bought the PRO version and did not like it and returned. The cover is included in the package if you get it on the EU website, so I felt it was unfair to charge UK customers separately but I bought it and it works great.

Overall, an excellent product. For students, writers, and readers. Very happy and highly recommend it.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersI’ve owned a number devices with ePaper screens. Sadly this was the worst. I have an eye defect that makes reading tricky especially with a light shining in my eyes, of course if you don’t have this issue then maybe it’s not a problem for you. I found the colour screen to be low contrast greyed and tricky to read by natural light even in quite bright light. The Kindle paperwhite by comparison is easy. Turning on the built in illumination to maximum solved that, but then it’s shines and it eats the battery. I estimate I was losing about 5% an hour.
A real shame because everything else worked fine as far as I could tell. I could download reader software from the play store and then read almost anything I tried. The colour screen was OK, but on the images I tried, including a photographic test chart, only just about acceptable. It’s nice to have but if, as I think, the colour overlay is responsible for the miserable reflective contrast, then not worth it to me.
In short, I returned it after three days. I shall try the B+W version instead.
Finally, just to note, it comes with a cover ordered direct – whynot here as someone else reviewing has pointed out?

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersEmbarking on the Boox Note Air 3 C journey is like delving into a niche where e-ink delicately embraces color. This gadget is a refreshing deviation from traditional tablets with LCD screens, promising a less straining visual experience both outdoors and indoors.

The Note Air 3 C shines brightest under the open sky. Its screen is a friendly companion to your eyes when the sun is out, eliminating the usual glare and allowing a clear view of whatever you’re working on. It’s not just an outdoor marvel; the e-ink technology is a welcome reprieve for your eyes from the harshness of conventional LCD screens, making it a worthy consideration for those looking to reduce eye strain.

The pencil interaction on Boox’s app is quite smooth, transforming note-taking into a pleasant activity rather than a chore. It might not be the powerhouse you’d reach for heavy-duty tasks throughout a bustling day, but as the day winds down, it’s the gadget you’d want to have by your side. It invites a more relaxed interaction, whether you’re casually checking emails, reading articles, or jotting down thoughts in a digital journal.

Build-wise, it’s designed for comfort, making it a pleasant hold as you navigate through web pages or flip through your notes. It’s not about rigorous note-taking but about enjoying a less strenuous visual experience while staying productive.

In a nutshell, the Boox Note Air 3 C is great for those who appreciate the outdoors, seek a gentler screen interaction, and enjoy a relaxed tech experience towards the end of the day. With its blend of comfort, color, and eye-friendly display, it’s a gadget that encourages a balanced interaction, catering to both your productivity and comfort.

Great eink tablet - No Remarkable 2 / Supernote replacement (For me)

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersTransitioning from a Remarkable 2 tablet to the Boox has been a delightful upgrade in many respects. The Remarkable 2 excels in notetaking, delivering the best experience I’ve had so far, yet it fell short when it came to swiftly sorting through notes. This feature alone justifies the price difference over traditional pen and paper for me. Upon receiving my Boox tablet, I immediately tested the search function and it performed brilliantly. Another surprising advantage was the backlight feature, which I initially deemed unnecessary based on YouTube reviews. However, having used it, the convenience it offers is unarguable. The Boox also allows me to download the Scribd app and transition smoothly from reading to notetaking, an aspect I’ve longed for. While the Boox provides a decent writing feel with more resistance compared to an iPad, it doesn’t quite match the fluidity of the Remarkable 2. I tested both the included pen and the Remarkable 2 pro pen, finding a slightly better experience with the latter, though the friction sometimes produced a squeaky sound akin to writing with a marker. I’m optimistic that with time, the writing feel will improve. Overall, my satisfaction with the Boox is high. The major letdown came from the absence of an anticipated case, featured in several blogs that piqued my interest initially. The case, with its simple pen clasp, was a big selling point for me to switch from Remarkable to Boox. However, unlike other reviewers, I found no case upon unboxing, which was a significant disappointment.

Golden Review Award: 65 From Our UsersAs I write this I’m looking at my Remarkable 2 and wondering, “Is the BOOX Note Air 3 C worth the extra spend?”

At this point, I’m inclined to say yes.

First things first: I’m writing a product review here. I was disappointed that BOOX posted to their social feed that a free case and extra nibs would be included. Then it listed where the device would be available, including a link to Amazon. Guess what? The free case apparently only applies if you buy directly from BOOX, so I’m apparently out the money. Very frustrating, and efforts to reach out to their customer service team have gone unanswered.

    Now to the device itself.

First impressions: Incredibly well built and surprisingly fast. I was worried that because the Note Air 3 C runs Android, things would be slower than Remarkable. Not the case at all! I find that the writing experience is also superior, even though it will likely take some time to get comfortable with the navigation.

I immediately downloaded Amazon Kindle for Android as well as OneNote and OneDrive.

    Bugs:
A very frustrating one right out of the box. I couldn’t login to my Google account to download apps despite using the correct password. It appears to be a bug with the way special characters are passed from the device via the web. I verified on other devices that my password functioned elsewhere, and indeed it did. I was forced to change my password and use it without the special character that Google accepts on every other device. I think this bug may only apply when you actually use the BOOX default keyboard and enter into the special character area.

Now my biggest complaint: A $499 device that comes with a terrific feeling pen…but doesn’t erase! I then used my Remarkable’s pen, flipped it over, and the BOOX erased like a champ. So, they skimped here. However, the real problem is that the pen I’m using with my Remarkable isn’t magnetic whereas the BOOX pen incorporates magnets to attach to the device when on the go. Come on, BOOX. Why wouldn’t you include a pen that is capable of erasing text without having to select an eraser from the control panel?

Refresh rates are good with minor ghosting when looking at color content. I’ve tried every setting including HD, and only with a full-page refresh will it completely clear color ghosting.

Battery life? A bit too early for me to be sure. I’ll update this review soon.

On the whole, a terrific table with great note taking capabilities and versatility.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe Onyx Boox Note 3C is AMAZING! As a university student who’s also a massive fan of manga, this ebook reader has transformed my life. First off, the screen is incredibly crisp, making academic PDFs and e-textbooks easy to read, even during late-night study sessions. The pen functionality is a game-changer for annotating lecture slides and jotting down notes in the margin. I can finally ditch carrying heavy textbooks and notebooks around campus.

But let’s talk about MANGA. Oh my goodness, the graphics are SPECTACULAR. The grayscale tones are rich and detailed, and I feel like I’m seeing my favorite series in a whole new light. It’s like having a personal manga cafe right at my fingertips!
