Increased temperatures a little from ordinary PLA as recommended on the packaging. First print went as expected being nicely wound on the spool. No problems at all up to now. Currently used to print track for 16mm scale model railways.

Prints very nicely, not quite as well as silk PLA seems to print with some issues with bed adhesions compared to normal PLA. I find printing this 5C hotter than other plastics seems to help. Great Value for money though.

I really like Elegoo filament in general. I found the Rapid black a bit less black than the regular PLA+. I always get good prints, and the filament is very cheap. All round good.

5.0 out of 5 stars My favourite black PLA+ so fa

Got the PLA+ Clear and prints so far from my Bambu A1 is superb.
No issues with flow rate with over 300g used – nothing short of great results.

Note: Used a filament profile found on makerworld

I love this PLA+ as it prints nicely and with a lovely finish. However, I had a really annoying failed print due to faulty winding (see photos). It was quite disappointing, however I am really hoping this is a one-off faulty reel as I have also bought more colours (I haven’t had any problems with the grey yet).

4.0 out of 5 stars Great but I had a problem

I originally left a negative review as I received a batch of filament that was tangled and wouldn’t print consistently. The seller reached out, offered a full refund or a replacement, and I opted for the replacement. The new filament is from a different batch, prints so far without issue, and also appears to be higher quality than the previous. I had previously struggled with bed adhesion, extruder blockages, poor print quality and air printing, but the new batch has been printing for 6 hours now on near-default settings without any issues whatsoever. I’ll accept it was a one-off. Thanks to the seller for the speedy resolution. Would recommend.

I had high hopes for this filament, especially given the promise of a glossy finish in the product description. However, despite my experience in 3D printing and numerous attempts to achieve the desired effect, the result consistently comes out with a matte finish. I even adjusted my printing settings, slowing down to 40mm/s on the outer layer and increasing the temperature to 240C, but saw little to no improvement.

Having previously used Sunlu filament, which consistently delivers a superior glossy finish, I can’t help but feel disappointed by the performance of this filament. If you’re seeking a matte finish for your prints, then Elegoo might be a better choice. However, if glossy is what you’re after, I recommend sticking with other brands.

Update on my previous review: The company reached out after my initial negative review and provided a refund, which I appreciated. After further consideration, I don’t think the print material itself is bad quality – it does print well. However, the black colour still didn’t have the deep, rich tone I was looking for in my project. So while the material quality is decent, the colour options may not fit everyone’s needs. I’m glad they made an effort to address my concerns, even though the product didn’t end up being quite right for me.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is easily the best filament I have tried to date. Melt point is perfect, it feeds smoothly through the head with no spitting or coughing, it’s smooth, clean and gives a beautiful finish as long as you have the printer dialled in correctly. I have had no failures from this pla over several reels now. Unlike many other filament types I have tried that have failed once in a while. Not one, that in itself is impressive and I am at a loss to explain why. Perhaps it’s better adhesion, or smoother melt, or whatever. I am so happy with this though that it has become my go-to PLA when I want to print something for show rather than the game board or wargame scatter. I tend to use the Amazon PLA for mot of the junk I print as it doesn’t have to be particularly special for a game board, but statues and ornaments. this is the one.

Wish I’d known about this sooner though, it could have saved me a deal of money spent on PLA that is pretty awful.

Great value for money if only for the clean finish, no stringing and consistent behaviour. All the way through the spool it’s the same, no change – just perfect, clean, smooth prints. Good price, great filament, great results. Can’t ask for better.
