For one thing, it arrived five days early, so now I’ve got time to start to learn it before my first ukulele class. This should also give it time to get in tune, because as everyone says, it goes out of tune while you’re tuning it; this will presumably continue until the strings have stretched and the instrument has settled down. Nevertheless, it’s possible to learn three chords and play “You are My Sunshine” almost immediately – ask me how I know. So far I can’t fault it; if things change, I’ll update this review. Right now, I think it’s great. It arrived well packaged, in a ukulele-shaped box within an Amazon box. The only off note is that I can’t get the tuner open to insert the battery! But I found a tuner on You Tube. Update: I managed to open the battery case and insert the battery. Very useful to have the tuner right on the instrument.
Case is cheap but good for storage in the house, the strings are good quality and easy to see with the coloured option. The picks are flexible and easy to use. The booklet that comes with it is basic and seems to be translated into English. But there are plenty of resources online that are better such as the Chordify app. The uke has a bright sound. The strap is rubbish as it doesn’t actually attach to the uke, it has a big hook that hooks the middle which doesn’t serve the purpose as it’s hard to play it when the strap is on as it interferes with the strings. Overall I use it daily and was a good cheap starter instrume
This is the second Everjoys Soprano Ukulele 21 inch we’ve bought as presents for grandsons. The sound is superior to cheaper ukuleles and it is well made and looks good. Would recommend.
I used to play guitar but I don’t have the space to have a bigger instrument right now. This ukulele is amazing and has helped me to have a great time with my baby girl. The transition from the guitar to the ukulele was surprisingly easy, I wasn’t a very good guitarist but I did it myself by watching YouTube videos. I strongly recommend it if you’re looking for a compact chord instrument to have a good time!
I love this little ukulele ,learning to play it knocked down a point because of strap ,strange set up there and you still need to hold onto the instrument. Bought a different type of strap all good
Im 35 years old, have never played an instrument before and bought this on a whim one night after too much wine. But I love it and am absolutely addicted. Its good quality (no sticking out/hard frets that hurt your fingers), and the tuner is great (although the battery did go quickly in it, it was easy to replace).
If you’re going to learn everything from scratch like I have, this is a great starting point. If mine broke for whatever reason now, I’d go straight back on amazon and buy it again. Good value for money.
Like the size for my son, great for beginners and I like the storage bag but would have been better if it had a front pocket for the book and other accessories it came with. Would recommend
The case I received for the instrument was no as per the pics in the product description. Mine was not a hard case but a cheap flimsy material one that’s not great quality. In fact the seam was not stitched and mine had a hole in which I presume will get worse as I use it. Would be good if this could be remedied without the need to return the whole thing..
Agree that at the beginning you need to spend time everytime you pick it up to retune and this seems to take forever. I understand that this settles after a while as the strings adjust to tuning. One thing that foxes me is the strap provided. How does it attach to the ukelele ? . No instructions for this .
I have downloaded a ukelele tuning app to my phone which is really helpful . Remember strings G C E A by Good Children Eat Apples .
I’m a complete beginner and wasn’t interested in spending 50+ pounds on an expensive instrument. I considered a few 20 instruments, but I’m so glad I invested a little more in this one. For what you get, it’s great value. The instrument quality is lovely, the colour is gorgeous black, and the electronic tuner is so useful!! It also came with some other bits, including the bag (not sturdy or anything, but good enough) and a chord sheet, which was really helpful for me. The sound is great and I’m confident in the quality of it for a beginner like me. Overall, the best purchase I’ve made in a while and I’ve already got a lot of use out of it.
I bought this as a Christmas present for hubby. He is forever leaving his guitars laying about and complains if one of the animals knocks it over so as he has an interest in all stringed instruments I bought this for him and he was thrilled. It’s much smaller than his guitars so he now tends to leave it on a shelf where the dogs don’t knock it over, it gets left around so he can pick it up and strum whenever he feels the urge. The one downside so far is it needs regular tuning, but with the iPad app he’s found it’s easy to get it back in tune. I’m told the gut strings take time to tune as they stretch. He was more than pleased with the whole package which included, strap, electronic tuner, plectrums and little instruction book. He says it is ideal for beginners and enthusiasts
I have to say I didn’t have a clue about ukeles before buying this but 5 months in this has been my best friend throughout lockdown. The sound is good and the ukele is a good quality. Initially I was concerned that I had to tune it after every short session, I’ve since found out that is typical for a new instrument, and it only lasted a few weeks until the strings settled. After 5 months with this Ukele and a host of YouTube videos, I can now proficiently cover a wide number of songs confidently and somewhat tunefully.
There’s a free tuner that comes with the Ukele, to be honest I’ve found smartphone apps easier to use as they have wider functionality.
The seller was good to deal with when I had a few initial questions, these were answered promptly and service was good.
Would I buy again? Absolutely!
Just to let you know, any stringed instrument will go in and out of tune for the first few uses. It’s the tension on the strings that cause this; it is not a fault in the product.
Anyway, this is an amazing ukulele! It is plastic but you wouldn’t be able to tell. It’s light, comfortable and I adore the strings! You get everything you need to start. I would recommend buying this as a starting off ukulele as you may find that you’re not actually as interested as you once thought so it would be wasted money.
And yes, this product doesn’t sound like many you’ve seen before but do remember that this is made of plastic and that all ukuleles sound different depending upon the type of wood used and the key that it is tuned to.
Overall, a great product and I would highly recommend!
I bough this with my daughter and she has hogged it since it has arrived!!!! Took a couple of days for strings to stay in tune. Came with all the bits that you need and you can find loads of songs on line. Charger was a little fiddly to get going at the start but all works OK now. Actually replaced the strings with Aquila strings after a couple of weeks just to improve the sound, took 20 mins or so to do. Its a good piece of kit for the price and easy to learn, I would recommend this
Overall great product as I’m also a beginner it was really helpful it included a song book, pic, tuner and bag and for the price the bundle is it’s a absolute bargin. The ukulele itself is beautiful and seems to be amazingly crafted and the sound quality is perfect. However, i don’t think the strap which came with the ukulele actually fits to the product and therefore I am unable to utilise the strap which is a bit of a shame. But overall great product.
I bought this for my teenage daughter. The ukulele is good for beginners, along with the booklet and the tuner. The booklet is just 4 pages, but it shows how to hold the ukulele and how to strum, and all the chords, which is basically all you need to know. The only issue was that at first tuning the strings took a very long time and the first few days it had to be tuned every couple minutes. My daughter did a bit of research online and realised that new strings often need a few days to get used to being stretched. This is apparently fairly common with most ukuleles, and after the first few days the ukulele only needs to be tuned once a day or so, which makes playing a lot more joyful, and my daughter has already learned a couple of chords. There are a couple of reviews here which say that the instrument had to be tuned every couple of minutes, if people were made aware that this should improve after a few days it would have saved them a lot of frustration, and the seller some returns. Someone also said there was no battery for the tuner or they couldn’t find it at first. It is there, not in the tuner, but separately in the box and might be easily overlooked.
Four stars because I suppose people who are knowledgeable about musical instruments will see some differences to an expensive ukulele. However for people like us who have never played a string instrument before and want to learn the basics and are not sure whether their kids will keep at it or lose interest after a while I think it is very good value for money, and I would happily recommend it.
This is a good starter set for anyone coming with all the required accessories to start playing and most importantly tuning your ukulele. The build quality is as expected at the price point but it sounds great despite feeling slightly flimsy.
The bag is a welcome touch protecting strings and wood during transit but could have been padded which would have aided safe transport.
The included tuner works but you can download several free apps which do the same and can also teach you chords and basic tunes.
This is prefect for those who want to try a ukulele before forking out for a proper one — it has stood up to months of playing without any issues so I’d recommend.
