Living in a rural area, we get our fair share of flies and mosquitos, especially in the summer. This zapper has been a godsend. It’s surprisingly quiet for how powerful it is, and the removable tray makes cleaning a breeze. I was a bit hesitant about the UV light, but it’s not overly bright or bothersome. If you’re looking for a chemical-free way to control insects, this is a great option.
This one is big too – big enough, I’d say even for commercial use. At 40 cm wide by just under 28 cm high and about 7 cm deep, it can be used freestanding or hung from metal loops in the top corners of the unit.
There’s 2 UV bars which can be replaced when necessary, and the on/off switch is on the side.
The power cable is 1.5 m long which should hopefully reach a plug without an extension and I like the slide-out tray on the unit which catches the dead flies, making it simple to dispose of them.
It’s also got a mesh grill over it for safety. There’s a little brush too to brush flies off.
I tested the fly killer on the kitchen surface and it’s quieter than my last one when it gets a hit.
I didnt really want to leave it freestanding as I knew the cable would be in the way of where people walk past, so I went to hang it and it was then that I realised I’d got nothing to hang it with. From what I can tell, there’s supposed to be a hanging chain included with this, which is missing. This is a real pain as I can’t find any decent chain anywhere at the moment that isn’t over-bulky, so very disappointing.
I’ve had to pack it away for the time being until I find something suitable.
Aside from that, it seems to be good and works well from what I’ve seen so far, but for 43.98 (at time of order), it’s not cheap compared to many insect killers, so it would have been preferable to receive the chain with this in order to use it.
This is the 3rd bug killer I’ve had from the seller, the first is still working perfectly, the second stopped working before 12 months was up but due to the excellent customer service they have replaced it free of charge and they work very well killing any bug that goes in . This zapper is great for dealing with flying bugs! Like other reviewers mentioned, the crack when it zaps them is quite loud. Sturdy and well built and good value for money.
The zapper does go off a lot and does what it is supposed to do. I have only had it a short time so I think it’s far too early to rate it 5*.

Bugs don’t stand a chance. Even zaps those annoying tiny fruit flies. When it zaps it is quite loud but that is to be expected with high voltages. The zaps might be a problem if any person or animal who are a bit nervous. Saying that it might get you or your animal use to firework pops any bangs. On the safety side. Keep out of reach of small fingers. A piece of kit that does the job.
We have a small house and small garden so flies are a big issue (due to plants, herbs etc). This has been a game changer and has helped reduce the amount of annoying flies drastically! Well worth the purchase!
This fly killer works well, and is very clean, no dead bodies lying around. Hover, did arrive with no hanging chain, but when I contacted the seller, they offered me a small refund as compensation, which I think is a fair deal. excellent services, would use agai
Attracts insects from 6 metres away with its bright uv light, loud satisfying crack as it does it’s job. Silent running. I live in the countryside and after a few days I counted over 100 dead flies in and around this superb machine. Best buy I’ve made in years.
Both myself and my partner thought it was hilarious when we heard the bugs literally go BOOM. It is reassuring to know the little buggers expire in a flash and suffer not the slightest and also very little left to clean up afterwards a double thumbs up from the both of us
Not the most aesthetically pleasing of products.. looks like something from the 80’s really..
However that being said this product does what it says it does!
The only negative is that when it does zap a mosquito or fly, it’s super loud and our dog jumps about a foot in the air every time, it’s even got the misses and I a couple of times.
We find it amusing though to be honest.

I have had a number of similar devices in the past but none as robust and effective as this device. It is a real credit to both designer and manufacturer and very good value
Does the job very efficiently. I just permanently leave it on. To start with me and the cat jumped a mile when it zapped but not we hardly hear it.

Bought this for a friend. It takes about 24 hrs for the tubes to settle after first switch on (she hasn’t switched it off yet). Be prepared to jump when insects fly into it (very loud crack/bang) een the smallest of mig makes it go crack, at least you know its one less fly or mig. Only been running for 2 weeks yet, will update later if need to.
Brilliant for gnats (small black flies that live in moist houseplant soil/fruit). It doesn’t get rid of them completely, as you need to treat the soil with neem oil to kill the eggs, but it definitely does get rid of the adults. A very satisfying ZAP every so often. Video is the latest of the dead flies, but I have hoovered/emptied this a few times, so it is very very effective for that.
Nice compact unit, but cable very short and will almost certainly need an extension lead unless you keep it low to the ground. Worked well for 5 months and then one bulb flickered and died and then the next day nothing lit at all. Bulbs are said to be good for 8000 hours but not in this case(assuming it was the bulbs at fault). No problems returning to Amazon luckily. Am looking for a replacement but looking at the various reviews all these type of units seem pretty unreliable
As I have a field behind my house with a small strram running through it, we get lots of flies in summer. I have tried every product to try and eradicate the problem, i decided to try this. Although I got this at the end of Summer I wasnt expecting many results as the flies have all but gone for the season….how wrong was I!! This zapper has worked amazingly, the first night it was up it zapped loads…i mean LOADS!! This is by far the best thing i have bought to sort out the problem. I would recommend this to anyone who has the same problem. The only down side is the smell the big buggers give off, its not nice (however, i do smile every time i hear it crack with the sound of death) but doesnt last long. Well worth the price, even if a few say it doesnt last long, I’d still buy it again. The money it cost VS the other products is nothing compaired to the wasted cash on other products that dont even kill a 1/4 of the fies this monster does. Get one, you wont be disappointed!! 5
