How to use hair dye at home.
Before you do anything, do a patch test. Apply a small amount of colourant behind your ear and wait 48 hours. Always read the instructions in the box. Watch our Nutrisse How to video above for a step-by-step tutorial.
Using a bleach to lighten hair:
If you want to completely change your hair and go from dark to light you will most likely need to bleach hair first. If you want to lighten your shade by more than 2 levels you will need to bleach first before applying your desired blonde shade.
How many boxes of dye do I need?
More often than not, people can underestimate how much hair dye they need. If you have long hair below shoulder length or thick hair, always buy 2 boxes to make sure you get perfect coverage all over. You don’t want to be left feeling disappointed.
How to properly dispose of the contents.
You can recycle the outer box, the developer bottle, conditioner bottle and the instruction leaflet.

The colour matches the shade on the box which is rare for box dyes, the conditioner that comes with the dye leaves the hair soft without the drying feeling that comes with dying hair.
The smell could do with improving as strong but thankfully doesn’t last.
I have very thick hair just below shoulders and two boxes worked fine, but if you have longer hair you may need 3 or 4.
The gloves are okay, not the best as split staining hands. Always worth getting a box of rubber gloves if you can.
I will definitely buy again.
What sets this hair dye apart is its suitability for all hair types. As someone with diverse hair needs, I appreciate a product that caters to everyone. The application process was straightforward, and the formula didn’t have that overpowering chemical smell that some hair dyes tend to have.
I was pleasantly surprised by the longevity of the colour. It has held up well, maintaining its intensity and shine. The Colour also left my hair feeling nourished and soft, which is a huge plus. It’s always a relief when a hair dye doesn’t compromise the health of your locks.
Overall, Nutrisse is a reliable choice if you’re looking for a vibrant and long-lasting hair colour. It’s suitable for various hair types, easy to apply, and leaves your hair feeling nourished — a winning combination in my book!
As someone who has all over white hair this product is great for keeping it white. The weather/ sun/ straightners can cause yellowing. I use this one a week and it just brightens my hair. Lasts for ages as I only use about the size of a fifty pence piece at a time.
I’m growing out a pixie cut with a lot of bleach and it’s a mess- decided to just go a nice rich uniform colour so thought I’d try this, not really expecting great results due to condition of my hair and various colours! But wow- it’s a gorgeous rich glossy brown, it feels great, looks so much healthier, just really impressed! And it’s vegan, happy days! Highly recommend!
I have tried honestly probably every single bleach that has ever been made. I buy this for in between full color, full colour meaning, I usually buy a bottle of peroxide and the powder and add the tea three taller four white blonde I like my hair to be white I know there’s certain Shades of white ice, white grey white, etc. etc. etc. when I say white I mean white like snow white like paper white like white!!!!
This has been the best I do mixes up and add just a touch of the Fola. No yellow tuna not the little toners you buy it comes in a big bottle you get for Ola no yellow shampoo, canola no yellow conditioner and you also get a pump style bottle there is Fola no orange and Fola no yellow. I use the Fola no yellow but I am reviewing this product. I’m just saying that I mix this together and I do add probably half a teaspoon of vanilla no yellow to the mixture, but seen that I have tried this product without that and basically what it says on the box is what you get the picture above the first picture. The side view is when I use it with the conditioner that’s provided. The second picture is when I used it with the half a teaspoon of vanilla, no yellow and also the conditioner that is provided with this product. It is great value for money. It’s the best you find the cheapest you’ll find for the quality will be buying again it’s a routine thing every month I take three if you’re looking for a bleach for a base for another colour or you’re looking to bleach your hair, white or just be blonde then this is a product, I would recommend five stars from me.
I’m lucky to have a beautiful shade of white, but it started to yellow.
Found this toner, not sure if it would work, but it really does!.
Simply work up foam through hair after regular shampoo and leave for 2 minutes (don’t rub into scalp).
I’ve been buying this hair colour for a couple of years now, switched buyer as the previous didn’t stock any more. I complete my purchase by subscribe and save which is super helpful in the long run for saving some money for the product. Swiftly arrives on time every 6-8 weeks and I can cancel or ammend any time. Colour is always fab and packaged securely apon arrival.
I used dark cherry red and my hair was mid to light brown. The colour came out almost black. After four or five washes it’s settled to a rich brown with red running through it.
May have to use a lighter shade next time.
The dye itself is simple to use and the conditioner easy to wash out, which is more than can be said for Olia. Their conditioner is sticky and horrible to use.
Would probably use Nutrisse again but need to find a lighter colour.
Lifted my hair from a mixture of different colours that were pretty dark, to a gingery light blonde. Didn’t bleach it to the desired and advertised colour, but it had a bit of a mission with my hair because it had been dyed a multitude of different colours, but it did lift evenly and was easy to use although had quite a low viscosity. Didn’t smell bad at all and didn’t irritate my scalp. I would definitely buy this product again. Only gripe was that there was less formula than in a standard dye kit.
It’s fine enough for an at home colour. My fave colour used to be olia frosted oak but you can’t get it anymore, so I moved onto this and it’s close enough I suppose. It’s much cheaper than going to a salon which is a bonus, we can’t all be affording to pay 200 every 3 months for fancy balayage or whatever.
Obviously you get downfalls with box dyes, lots of people saying your hair is dry afterwards. For me that’s kind of a given, what do you expect, it’s a 5 quid box of chemicals you put on your hair! That’s why the conditioner included in the pack is so rich, I personally never use a conditioner that rich in my regular washing routine so they give it you for a reason, and I always expect to have to spend a couple of weeks deep treating and conditioning my lengths after a box dye.
Having said that, this one isn’t actually that bad, only minimal drying out I feel.
As for the colour, it’s fine for me but a couple of times it’s come out with a coppery tone to it, as you can see in the picture. The picture is freshly washed after my 4th application in a year of this shade. This personally doesn’t bother me, I don’t mind it, but bear it in mind if you buy this colour.
Does cover the greys but I leave it on for an extra 10 to 15 minutes to make sure of it.
Also my hair is long, only about 3 inches or so from being bum length, and it’s very thick. I need 3 boxes each time to completely cover it all.
