Bought for a friend who travels a lot for work. She had a horseshoe neck thingy before and she didn’t like it. This one apparently lets her rest her head to one side and it will support her head a lot better. Was fun watching her trying to fit it but it was dead easy to do. Has a nice side feel to it.
Bought it as a gift. They used it for a long haul flight, and were surprised how comfortable it was. Have to admit, it doesn’t feel so comfortable when holding it in your hands, but following the raving review, I think I may purchase one for myself…
Purchased as a gift for someone undergoing medical treatment that causes them to nap during the day in any chair or sofa they find themselves in, but they’d been waking up with a sore neck. This has been a great solution! They begin to feel drowsy, put it on, and know that they’ll have a comfortable snooze even sitting up! So, it’s not just for travel 😉
Just received.. Out of box looks well made and material is very soft.
I have a small neck and head and it fits great… Thought it might not, but happy it does.
The carry case is very handy, overall size is much more compact than other types of neck supports.. This will definetly help with travelling
This is a great product. I fly a lot and just use this even when not sleeping just to support my head. Also great when having a sleep. Nice travel bag and a great purchase. Very happy.
Quite happy with my purchase. It holds neck up straight, but you can only lean on one side and scratch does loosen up after a while, so you need to unroll and tighten it up again. I appreciate the size and the fact that it’s quite lean when folded so fits well inside handbag.
Absolutely brilliant (shame a UK company outsourced to China so -1 star).
Travel frequently and have tried many of the ‘travel pillows’ over the years.
This one has been well designed (in the uk) but sadly made in China…why?! 🙁
That aside it is very comfortable and does not make you sweat or strangled..
Flexible in fit, adjustment and design..
Defiantly the best travel pillow I’ve used.
WOULD recommend.
I bought one of these after my significant other received one over the Christmas Break. A Trtl aims to keep your neck and head more rigid during long journeys (especially on flights for example) and looks to improve upon traditional neck pillows which give middling levels of support.
My biggest takeaway from using this product is that it will work differently for different neck and shoulder types, with shorter people or those with a narrow shoulder width probably having a more enjoyable experience than those with longer necks and wider shoulders. It does not massively improve upon the existing neck pillows available on the market but does benefit from a small size and light weight, making it easy to carry through a busy airport terminal.
Overall, I’d make only a middling recommendation for this, as mileage will vary from person to person. Still, give it a try, you can always use Amazon’s liberal returns policy if it isn’t right for you!
I love this pillow! I’m disabled and I cannot lay flat. I have a hospital bed and have to sleep in an upright position which means I have to lay on my back, which I’ve never felt comfortable doing. I have spent years trying to plump pillows up to curl them around my neck so I can feel like I’m sleeping on my side but those days are gone thanks to the Trtl Pillow.
I have had the pillow a few weeks now and I use it every night. When I first put it on I instantly feel my whole body relaxing, I’m really not sure if this an intended consequence but it’s very welcome!
I wear it every night, though it is winter, I’m not getting too hot but come summer I suspect I will. I really hope this isn’t the case as I’d miss it so much.
I’ve read reviews that say it’s very uncomfortable which I’ve not found to be the case at all. You need to take your time finding a position that suits you. The centre of the pillow is like a hammock with none of the plastic structure, I position my ear there and find it incredibly comfy.
Finally it has one other pro for me which I’m pretty sure is unintentional. I have short hair and I usually wake up with it sticking up in every direction but this is not the case with Trtl pillow, it looks just like it did when I went to bed……bonus!!
I bought this pillow for use on two 9 hour + transatlantic flights (London to San Diego with connections, so total flight times were 15hours. I wasn’t convinced it would work for me but I was prepared to pay 25ish for the gamble; I know frequent fliers, so if it didn’t suit me, I was sure I could pass it along.
This pillow is never leaving me! It’s brilliant. The material itself is very comfortable, and you do feel supported. There is a bit of a learning curve to get the right positioning for you, and is quite trial and error. I couldn’t find any position towards the front that worked for me, but quickly got left and right positioning sorted.
Unexpected side benefit I discovered, which I haven’t seen referred to at all. This is brilliant if you are a fatigue sufferer and sometimes have those ‘my head feels too heavy for my neck to support it’ days. I can put it on and work comfortably instead of feeling I have to go back to bed.
The only potential issue/downsides with it I found were:
1) wearing it with my beloved noise cancelling cans was uncomfortable. Not the fault of the designers, they are big! It also was uncomfortable with Virgin Atlantic supplied headphones, so bear that in mind. However, I found it fine with both foam and flight earplugs, and my in ear back ups. (Yes, I’m slightly obsessed with having headphones on me at all times).
2) I am a person that needs to change positions often if I can’t get to sleep. I had a major case of restless legs on the overnight flight, and kept finding I needed to adjust my (attempted) sleeping position. Because of the design of this pillow, this is a bit more hassle than with a standard design travel pillow. Not a flaw, just a reality of the design. Standard travel pillows have never ever worked for me, so I’m prepared to put up with that.
3) possibly a more major issue if I’m not the only one. I noticed a rash on my neck on the opposite side to where the support part was; I’ve put the fabric part in the wash in case it was a treatment issue or something it came into contact with on the plane; alternatively it may be that I’m allergic to the velcro hook and loop type fastener that is used on the product. I really hope not because this is the most perfect travel pillow otherwise. I’ll try and report back on this point.
Not as smooth to use as the picture indicates. I had to attach it quite tightly to stabilise my head, but even then, it tended to slip a bit. This had both positive and negative consequences. On the positive side, it prevented the dreaded open-mouth head droop, but on the negative, it put some pressure on my front teeth as I was leaning my mouth quite heavily on the hard plastic. Despite these minor inconveniences, I must say, it was excellent at preventing neck pain and I was able to get a few hours of quality sleep that I would have missed out on otherwise. I would definitely recommend it over other options as I also compared it to another “smart pillow” available on here, which my partner bought and I tried, and I have to say, this one was definitely the better choice.
I wore it on a long haul flight to Dallas and it definitely helped me to get a bit of sleep. I had an aisle seat and nowhere to rest my head and the Trtl travel pillow definitely provided enough support. It’s cosy and warm too. I wrapped it across my mouth because open mouthed and drooling is never a good look and it was still very comfortable. I’d give it five stars except I agree with the other reviewers that it’s a bit overpriced. I was sitting next to a Texan lady with the same pillow, in the same colour, and she’d paid $13 for hers while I’d paid 24. She also said she’d packed it into her suitcase on a short haul flight and the plastic ‘cage’ within the fleece had buckled and snapped. It was still useable but had a loose bit of plastic inside.
I bought a couple of options for a longhaul flight (London-Indonesia) and of the two the Trtl was a clear winner. I have quite a long neck and find most u-pillows offer little to no support and the ones that do push my neck away from the seat into a fairly unnatural position. When I used the Trtl for the second half of the flight I slept for a solid 5 hours without waking. This may have just been because I was more tired but as someone who generally has very little luck sleeping on flights it was a nice change. The slight curve in the chin support also means your head can’t roll around.
I was worried the material would get a little stuffy, but with the AC on planes I was grateful for the extra layer which feels like the same material the airline blankets are made from (even matched the colour on Emirates). It also packs relatively flat which meant I could slide it in and out of my carry-on easily.
The only gripe I have would be with the support itself, which dug in slightly when put in certain areas. It would also be great if the middle was a little sturdier or possibly had a variable length as even as tight as I could get it, it flexed slightly too much and my neck was stretched more than I would have liked.
Overall I would say this is probably the best travel pillow I’ve tried to date and I would definitely recommend giving it a go if traditional U-pillows don’t work for you.
This pillow does support your neck securely as I discovered on 2 Ryanair flights and also a 2.5 hour coach journey. I’ve discovered you don’t have to wrap it too tightly and the fleece can be rolled down if you don’t want to be too warm. It also takes minimal space compared to my memory foam travel pillow. Some things that I found which made it imperfect is that the support is only on one side so if you fancy switching sides, you would have to take it off and flip it over to the other side. Also the frame is very rigid and possibly a tad too big for my face and neck.
The other thing is that when my curious friends tried them out, they found the concept very restraining. So if you don’t mind the odd looks, this may be a good choice.
My temper neck travel pillow finally died after 8 years, and it was time to buy a new neck pillow for long haul flights with a business trip that comprised of 4 legs of 11+ hour intercontinental flights, including 3 red eyes. I saw this whilst browsing Amazon and thought I’d give this a try. It is a little unconventional BUT, the material is super soft, breathable and whilst there are comments about the plastic frame it feels strong enough to survive bashes of travel attached to my backpack or suitcase. When it comes to fit, it isn’t difficult to fit and adjusting it to comfort takes 20-30 to get into position. Just one thing, it doesn’t fit when I wear my Bose over the ear headphones (QC25s), so in ears only with this, just as would be the case with a normal neck pillow.
All in all I would recommend this.
I have yet to take in on the plane but I have tried it on for a little while to try it out and it does seem to support my neck at a higher point than my regular memory foam travel pillow which I will be traveling with also for extra comfort.
it feels a little like a neck brace, the tighter the more effective but it is small enough to go in my handbag when I travel which is a plus.
I don’t believe travel pillows will ever be completely comfortable I work in america but my family is in the uk and I travel every 4 months or so to visit so I have long flights to test this product out properly, it doesn’t stand out and just looks like a scarf but the tightness can give the game away a little.
the support is a big plus while with a regular pillow your head is almost at a right angle this supports higher, it is harder to drift off but it is almost like resting your head on someone’s shoulde
I fly long-haul a few times a year for work and have resigned myself to getting little to no sleep on the plane and then spending the next few days exhausted and with a sore neck/shoulders. Recently I bought a Releaf neck rest on the strength of its Amazon reviews, and liked it better than even the fanciest travel pillow I’d tried, but still found it quite hard to sleep in what is basically a neck brace.
I saw the Trtl Sleepscarf as a recommended item after ordering the other neck rest, and after reading the amazing reviews, gave in and treated myself to one. I finally got to use it yesterday for a 12-hour flight and I was not disappointed! I loved everything about it… it’s easy to use, super soft and cosy, and has just enough support for my head without being restrictive. It also folds up small and flat so I don’t have to carry it separately like my old travel pillows, and it looks way less weird than the Releaf collar.
The girl sitting next to me on the flight was jealous and wrote down the name of the Sleepscarf to buy one for herself, which says it all! Flying again in 2 weeks and looking forward to a restful overnight flight tucked up with my Trtl Sleepscarf 🙂
