Fantastic product. We did replace the accessories for better quality ones and to have a longer exhaust pipe but other than that we absolutely love how quickly this diesel heater warms the space and how hot it can get on the highest setting. Remote control makes it super easy to control and the top filling point is ideal to top the diesel tank up. We can highly recommend this diesel heater.
As the air inlet and exhaust come out at the bottom, I built quite a large standoff base to allow the pipes to exit without much stress. My added base is 100mm tall. I used a 3 metre long exhaust hose to expel the gasses outside the room. The exhaust hose does get very very hot, and the longer it runs inside the room, the less energy we throw out.
The positives:
You have a key fob remote control with “on” “off” which turns the unit on and off, and “+” and “-” to adjust the power output, but you would not be able to tell the setting. You also have a phone app which allows you to set the temperature and on and off and it is much better. It uses bluetooth so the range is maybe 20m without obstacles.
The heater works well, and the noise comes from the blower when on the high setting. At low fan settings you will hear the ticking of the fuel pump, I have the upgraded pump but it still makes noise. If you are inside a busy workshop you will not hear anything.
The negative points:
The instructions are well translated but inadequate.
Quite hard to secure the jubilee clips onto the exhaust and inlet hoses as the heater’s case gets in the way. I even used a small spanner to make sure the clips were tight.
You need at least 12A at 12V when the machine starts up and tries to heat up the glow plug. That is more or less 150W so remember this before you buy a 12V adapter or PSU. Incidentally, some 12V power supplies are bad and do not hold their voltage at the rated power, so shop carefully.
Another issue is the fan carrying on cooling the combustion chamber for a couple of minutes, after you switch the unit off. This is a crucial step – if you simply pull the plug out, the fan will stop, and the chamber being so hot will distort and break. There should be a small 12V battery in the device to make sure there is enough power for the fan after a shut down, power cut, or disconnection. It would add a bit to the price but well worth it IMO.
Another issue is the placement of the fuel line right next to the exhaust outlet. This location is amongst the hottest on the device. It is situated under the device so in most cases you would not even have sight of it. Why run the fuel line a mere 10mm from something so hot defeats me! You are supposed to wrap the exhaust hose with fibreglass heat tape, but why take that risk?
When I first started the heater it smoked a lot, there were clouds of very dense white smoke, a lot of it also came into the house and had to open all windows and doors! It smoked so much I thought it was broken. Eventually the white smoke thinned out and eventually started to run clean with only very little sweet smell of diesel remaining.
As the heater does not have an onboard battery or electrical source, I suppose it is safe to unplug it and store it anywhere. I read a comment here on Amazon about a “spontaneous combustion” after the unit had been switched off and unplugged for one hour, but I do not understand how this could ever happen.
Got this on my caravan which I live ineasy to set up no problems so farwarms van really quick on high then put it on tick over and van stays lovely and warm
I bought this to heat our conservatory that we don’t really use in the colder months. Our goal is to turn the conservatory into a drying room to save on the electric bill which is usually really high due to the tumble dryer.
The conservatory is roughly 3 x 3 x 3, and has a celing fan.
After installation, which was easy enough. I’m managing a constant internal temperature of 26.7C, with the outside temperature at 9C.
I’ve had the unit running continuously for 4 hours and used hardly any diesel. If I had to estimate the usage I’d say just under litre , which as of today , a litre of diesel is 1.59p. So, roughly 20p per hour… Happy days !
If the unit goes bang and customer service is plop , I’ll update my review.
I will try and source other cheaper fuels , like kerosene.
EDIT * managed to get red diesel at 60p a litre. Runs perfectly…. and cheap as chips !
I’m curious about kerosene tho.
EDIT* I’ve spent many hours searching Google and YouTube trying to find ways to quieten the diesel pump ( very annoying)
If you intend on modifying your heater , please try this method before spending money and/or spending many hours trying other methods.
Although this sounds to good to be true , it really does work.
I used a tea towel carefully placed around the pump whilst it was in situ in the diesel heater tower.
I can hardly hear a thing now ! And I’m very surprised no one else has discovered this !
Worth ago if you’re fed up of the clicking sounds.
It is really good source of clean heat
Uses very little diesel but it will drain your 12V battery very quick
Yes the heating is done by diesel
But the blower fan, (super strong) is powered from battery..
If you need this somewhere where no problem with electricity then it is perfect
But in off grid situation you need lots of energy 12V..
I love this heater. Straight out of the box its been brilliant, great heat delivery and easy to use. I run mine through a 240v to 12v 30 amp transformer and it performed great. I have also powered it through a 12v car battery constantly being charged from my 5 amp smart charger, either method of powering works great, if you are worried about power cuts the later method is better. Overall great heater, spares are dirt cheap to. There are some great chinese diesel heater forums on Facebook filled with great advice if you get any problems. I would definitely recommend.
Great little heater have now been using for over a month and running on kerosene heating oil without any problems and much cheaper than diesel!
Only issue is that you can’t regulate the temperature, yes you have a thermostat but it only regulates the fan speed not the heat that it throws out which is not very fuel efficient. Having said that 5 Litres will last 3-4 days with it running just over 8hrs a day so still good value when compared to a 2000 watt electric heater! Other minor issue but I can live with it is the fuel pump ‘ticks’ when the unit is on can be annoying but it’s acceptable. I note on you tube videos that an option would be to detach the fuel pump from the inside of the machine and run it outside where the noise would be less intrusive, might consider this at a later date! Looses one star for theses points.
Remote supplied also works a treat, able to switch on heater from our house before entering outside office where it is set up.
For the price though it’s a brilliant buy, already saving a fortune on my electric bill!
Had some issues with this heater after contacting the seller these issues have been resolved quickly
The heater does what it says on the tin, the remote is basic and easy to use the same as the display panel, instructions aren’t brilliant, and they don’t tell you how to prime the heater for first use.
The heater is I believe the cheapest on Amazon for this type of all in one heater others are sum 50 to 60 more expensive for the same product with only as I can see a different remote and lcd display panel
Once you take the casing off you will find that the fuel tank is not secured to anything , the plate it sits on is only slotted together and not bolted, this will fall apart easy but it is just as easy to reassemble , no fuel filter but this seems common for this type of heater and it’s not hard to fit one if you so choose and it doesn’t effect the heater if it hasn’t a fuel filter,
All in all not a bad buy if your in the market for a diesel heate
I needed heating for my “lockdown pub” (the one at the bottom of the garden) and this is ideal. It’s a “all in one” unit but, as you can see from the photos, the controller and hot air outlet can easily be positioned remotely making it completely inobtrusive. The 12v power supply needs up to around 10 amps at times so a car battery is the simplest choice. I initially used a solar panel charger to keep it topped up but it only works on sunny days so have now fitted a smart-charger. The instructions, such as they are, are written for the component version and the section on priming the fuel line does not work with the “all in one” which has the fuel tank mounted at the top. The easiest way to prime the fuel line is to disconnect it at the bottom, hold it up and then use the fuel pump as directed. Setting the controller to display temperature settings is also not covered but the is plenty of information online. It’s fairly quiet in operation with a bit of a roar when first getting up to temperature subsiding to just a gentle tick of the fuel pump. I’ve just bought a second heater for a conservatory and feel that these would be ideal for a campervan or could even be adapted to make a superb camping heater for a tent!
