Left it down for two days and caught a big mouse. Very kind on the animal which can safely be released away from the house later on. Reusable too which is great.
Easy to see up and use, humane way to catch a mouse for release. this is our 2 nd one.
So far caught and released 8 field mice over the last year.
Caught 2 this week, one within an hour of setting the trap in our pantry! Released to a field 2 miles away.
Purchased this mouse trap after yet another live donation to the household by our cat. Success rate has been 100%. Easy to use and extremely humane way of catching the mice. Four in total so far! We would highly recommend.
Been through loads of traps over the years. I found one that actually traps mice. Every time I set it, next day, there’s a mouse. And you can take it apart and clean it between sets. Just watch out that you put the little pusher rod through the right hole when re-assembling it.
Let the mouse go in a field and pray it is not a homing mouse!
I strongly recommend this.
Super friendly mouse / rat trap. We used it in our loft space because neighbours heard some scratching sounds. Nuts in a shell did not help. So we used peanut butter instead and sure enough there was a live
mouse. We just set it free in the fields near by. Trap worked for us, not sure when people say theres a weight requirement for example if it is a very light rodent the trap will not set off. Our mouse was pretty small so…
Arrived this evening, needed to read the instructions to get it set up at first. Poured some oats into the tray, left for a few hours and voila! One uninjured little rodent to relocate in the morning. Thank you Motel Mouse!
We successfully caught and released our tiny friend thanks to this amazing, humane Mouse Hotel.
It was easy to set-up and my sons loved to help release the mouse back outside.
First night success, so we would highly recommend
Worked like a dream. Once I put in the Tuesday right room he was caught the same night. Not sure how long he was in there, I can only assume over night or at least a few hours in the morning, kept him safe in. A little difficult to thoroughly clean but still a great produc
I have tried all the various humane mouse traps and these have been the best by a country mile. Fill the end with peanut butter and sunflower seeds and/or kernels. Leave a little trail (not too many) to the entrance with seeds so they become more confident to enter the trap further each time and bingo you got them. I even caught two at the same time when the second mouse chased the first one! I have a camera pointed at the traps so I am alerted when the mice appear. Better than TV these days!
So we ordered this after seeing a mouse running around the sitting room. We received it the next day and put it out before going to bed. Woke up the next morning to find the mouse caught and safe. I was told by a friend that these didn’t work, but they definitely do. We used chocolate spread for the bait and the mouse obviously loved it.
Just works. Used grass seed as bait after discovering mice eating grass seed in a store cupboard. Used the original packaging box each time to transport the trap and mouse about 1mile away and release. Cleaned, reset..
Design is very good. Extremely sensitive – had to experiment with the size of the bit of cheese and its placement to avoid setting it off continuously. Cleaning is reasonably easy but can be a bit messy. Bought two traps and have caught 4 mice in 4 days! Thinking of buying more! Humanely released.
We have caught and released soooo many mice using these traps!! We have 6 of them so we can catch a few mice at a time; my mum gets them in her loft every winter so it’s nice and easier to release them together. I love the fact that you can put a little water in the trough at the back, as well as the food, so you can leave them overnight. I’ve even started to put a bit of tissue in there too so they have something to chew on! If we hear noises in the loft we set the traps in the evening and just expect to find them sat in there come morning. Digestive biscuits and peanuts are our bait choices. We’ve never had a mouse that has chewed the trap or escaped.
I was very aware we had a mouse problem and bought this mousetrap. The first night I put this in the location where I knew the mouse was roaming I found it in the trap the following morning. The second night a mouse ate the bait but did not trigger the trap. I suspect I did not clear the seeds out properly from the trap. Having cleaned it fully I then caught four further mice on subsequent nights. Since when, i am pleased to say, I now no longer appear to have a problem. It’s easy to use, easy to clean and works well. All the mice survived the process. You do have to take the mouse some way from your home to release it into the wild so it doesn’t return.
After having bought a pack of three of another type of trap(different manufacturer) (which were hopless and the mice just used a vending machine, even hanging around to use as a loo) this straight away seemed a better built product.
Easy to set and open (the bait end could be a better designed though for ease of opening, not a major issue though)
There is a metallised plate by where you put the feed which serves to reinforce against where the mouse may try and gnaw out to freedom. Simple and effectively engineered.
The trigger is alot more sensitive than the other I have tried and caught Timmy IV on the first go
This trap works really well. It gives plenty of space to a trapped mouse, unlike the old ‘humane traps, in which mice often died.
When the trap arrived, I unboxed it and tried out the mechanism, which is ingenious. I put nuts in the food tray and placed the trap on the kitchen floor ready for later. I was very surprised when a mouse appeared on the kitchen table, especially when it ran down to the floor and into the trap, which promptly closed.
We set the trap for the following two evenings, soaking it in warm water in between to clear it. On both occasions there was a mouse inside in the morning. Problem solved, at least for the moment.
All three mice seemed relatively undistressed and sat quietly while being taken out into the surrounding countryside in the car. They ran away quickly when released.
I thoroughly recommend this mouse trap. It’s a huge improvement on the older designs.
I found this trap much more efficient than the previous small one I have used. I caught 3 mice in 2 nights and currently don’t seem to have any further problem. Less stress for the mice who have room to move whilst waiting for release.
Recommended bait includes sticky substances like peanut butter. I personally wouldn’t recommend these as they make a mess, stick to the mouse causing further distress. I used crumbled biscuits. Also, because the trap is a bit fiddly to clean – a dropping is now stuck under the trip plate.
Another slight complaint is that the small lever to raise the lid is fiddly to use and I had difficulty releasing it when trying to free the mouse, stressing us both out.
I was surprised, I wanted to remove a mouse from our bedroom, it must be death as I had bought sound repellants as I didn’t want to kill him. Well the trap was easy to use and set up, so as it arrived late I set it up the next day whilst the mouse was a sleep. I put a bit of a corn snack in the trap and left it against a wall. I woke up with the trap closing. The mouse was in a bit of distress so I coaxed him until it was time to take the wife to work. I found a quiet spot near where the wife worked, removed the trap from the car and let the mouse out. When he realised I wasn’t going to kill him he was gone. Two days and I now have a quiet bedroom and an empty trap, washed and cleaned for next time. What a result, 5 stars is the least I can give it.
it worked a treat, when it arrived, I set it up and we had a mouse inside 2 hours and then regularly until we had caught 30 of the little critters. Used peanut butter and cat food biscuits, (they like the cat food as they had eaten a bag of it before we found cause!) Only problem was that the final one was found at eleven in the evening when it was hissing down with rain! So I left it till the morning and found trap empty, triggered, bait gone and no mouse! Examination found a chewed hole in the body of the trap! So make sure you keep an eye on the trap and empty as soon as possible if you catch something. Still a great buy, so much so that I have just ordered a replacement, even though our problem seems to be sorted!
Bought this as we have 2 cats who regularly bring in live mice and this one had been living under / in the back of the fridge for a while. usually we catch them with a long rule and a pair of wellies but as he’d been there a while it seemed easier to set a trap overnight.
So got the trap and put some thin slices of Cadbury’s fudge inside. THe mouse loved the fudge which he ate all of but wasn’t in the trap. I checked the operation of the trap and is seemed fine. So night 2 I put fruit and nuts and some random frosting off a cake inside. This he was less impressed by but still came and ate some of the bait and left before morning.
So for night 3 I examined the function of the trap and noticed that it’s possible for the trap door to sit slightly forward and not be in a position to fall when the pressure plate pulls out the latch on the side of the trap. So when I put it down on day (filled with Mars bar slices) 3 I made sure that the door was resting against the latch by gently pushing the door towards the opening. This time it worked perfectly.
We have used this trap to tremendous effect over several years at various locations in our house.
Sometimes it needs to be left in place for a few nights before the little creatures venture in and are caught for later release 2 miles away.
Sometimes after 2 nights without success a re positioning does the trick.
Normal bait is broken up chocolate biscuit.
But for the last 3 nights a mouse who has been watching Mission Impossible is defeating the trap.
Night one, the trap was sprung, the door closed but no mouse, and no bait!!! How???
Nights two and three, trap doesn’t spring, but NO BAIT in the morning???
Has anyone ever experienced this? Pressure plate seems as sensitive as ever, trap as always has been released. Is mouse using a hover device? Suction pads? Or what?
My experience would definitely lead me to recommend this humane product, but have the mice learned how to hack the system?
