Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersPro: Very easy to set up and using is spot on. Tested out on the road today, very clear directions and quick to recognise details of journey. Good screen size, battery life better than others I have used. Although not used, the Support back up, if needed, appears to be easy for contact etc.,

Cons: Limited facility to edit Favourites etc, would have liked to rename as opposed to just showing the Address. No other dislikes to date.

Overall a very good SATNAV at a reasonable Price compared to the usual suspects!!

Package arrived intact but vital screw for back attachment missing had to search for and use my own screws; Nav Pal was easy to set up and operate except difficult to input house numbers above 200. Otherwise happy with size and purchase

Was worried about this function people saying it didn’t have it but all you do is click on city/town and enter postcode easy used a few times great results will try it next when driving a coach see if it sends you on appropriate roads

It took me several days just to figure out how it worked. It still thinks I live across the road from my house. And even now, after some weeks, I haven’t been able to sus how to set the current time. It shows GMT in the time setting but GMT+1hour on the map rather than default to the correct UK time. Similarly, its difficult and slow just to enter a postcode or address. Still, compared with other satnavs I’ve had from Halfords, it was considerably cheaper to buy and given time I aim to figure out how it works.

Although received very well packaged, I haven’t actually used the Navpal sat nav yet.
Included in the packet were all the items as stated. The instruction leaflet giving a web address to register the device. I then received an email with a link showing how to set the device up which was helpful and clear. However, I wasnt able to find the speed camera warning mode, unless of course this comes into play once the device is in use.
Overall, the NAVPAL SAT NAV seems pretty straight forward but it will be put to the test and of course the “speed camera” test very soon.

    UPDATE:
The NAVPAL SAT NAV has since been put to the test and the speed camera alert is notified whilst in use.

I brought this sat nav for my motorhome as I plan to do quiet a few European trips next year as well as the Uk. the product arrived in a well presented box with everything your need including holder and fixing mat. The instruction booklet was simple to read and the sat nav was easy to setup. I’m very pleased with it and when compared with traditional more expensive brands I can’t see any difference. Why pay 250 plus when this device does exactly the same for a fraction of the cost.

I was surprised that it is an exact copy of the last one but with a different name that one lasted about 5 years but it was impossible to get updates from that supplier I can only hope that this supplier will do that we will have to wait and see.
It is very easy to use but you must set it up correctly do not rush it and it will be o.k. I would suggest that you set it up from the main manual and not the quick start manual.

Works well for what it costs. You need to to really know the functions so take your time to know them and it will not disappoint you. Takes a bit of time sometimes to re-route and keeps wanting to take you back to a road you don’t want to use/closed road etc, but I trust this a lot.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersPurchased this sat nav to go in our motorhome. You can set dimensions which is great, as our motorhome is over 7mtrs long and don’t want to get stuck down small country lanes.
For the price this device is worth it. There are more expensive systems out there, but this one does the job just as good.
    Easy to set up.
With annual free updates, going forward this should not be a problem navigating around the UK with all the latest road changes going on. Only drawback of this unit, it is not live data. But you get a good tool for a lot less than those expensive ones and you can run it along side a live data route finder like waze if needed. Just be wary this might take you down narrow lanes or under low bridges, as you cannot set up dimensions in waze.

Great Device but totally different from my last one. Takes some getting used to. The wiring and
charging is also different from my last one. All in all, once you get used to its differences, it is a superb device for the money paid. I travelled to four different places this morning, just to try it out. Grea

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Device but totally different from my last one. Takes some getting used to.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersBought this to replace my old Navman – very pleased would definitely recommend.
Screen is a good size and kit is very much “plug and play”. Option for Windscreen or Dashboard install, I decided on Dashboard install as my previous screen sucker used to drop off at the most inconvenient times. Dash mount is a sticky backed disc – I opted for a bean bag (Amazon) as my Dashboard Binnacle is not flat and textured so a stick on wasn’t going to work. Navpal + Bean Bag combo works well.

What I like about the Navpal:-
    Intuitive Touchscreen Controls
Speed Limit Display + Aural Warnings
Speed Camera locations on the map
    Easy Destination Input
Left/Right House Numbers on display for road you are on.
You can input vehicle type or dimensions so if you switch to a larger vehicle van, motorhome or HGV you can set this up and it won’t take you down narrow lanes.

    What I don’t like:-
Errrr – nothing it is a good buy!

Had this about 2 months and am very pleased with it and am still finding out new cool things it can do.
    Free annual updates
    Six Year Guarantee

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe set up was idiot proof (necessary for me) and was working within minutes of opening the box. Everything that was necessary was included, the format was easy to follow and the promise of free updates was a bonus, as other products I have used can be misleading when highway changes and alterations are not updated. Installation took minutes with fixing brackets that covered most requirements that would be needed, including additional self adhesive disc for fixing to the fascia if the windscreen was not suitable. Obviously only use over time will be the proof but at this time I would recommend this product.

Having bought this sat nav recently due to my previous one gave up the ghost. Having just had a week in Cornwall using the Navpal every day I found it worked well using post codes and place names took a bit of getting used to but as time goes on it will become easier I like the large screen which makes life easier to read due to my lack of hearing I found the vioce help a bit too much but have managed without this, my only complaint is it’s difficult to see the screen in direct sunlight and also the glare on the windscreen at night I will buy a shield which should help.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersI haven’t given it much time to judge properly yet but I liked the fact that it’s British made and a big screen. Im going away for a couple of weeks on a driving holiday and hope to fully test it out then. As I only drive a saloon car to use it an replace my iPhone app which the battery runs down very quickly. I don’t have a van, a trailer, camper van, lorry etc but this is what I like about this satnav system,
    1) the price,
    2) that for a complete novice and a nonse, I could use it straight out of its packaging without someone else helping me.
    3) An English female voice which is easily heard,
    4) Already charged up to go after taking it out of the box at starting up
    5) The screen and the Maps look good.
    6) I went for bigger 7″ screen which is great, stuck on the front passenger side
I can’t comment on the updates as yet, because I only used it for a couple of short drives.
    The downside are;
    1) that if you stop the vehicle engine to refuel etc then it has to be reset.
    2) The speech directions are not always correct on cross road junctions and the shortest route is not given probably because it’s designed for larger vehicle users.
    3) The window mount sucker connection could be made simpler to enable the removal of the tablet quickly, for security when leaving the vehicle.

Golden Review Award: 34 From Our UsersI don’t know how Navpal can do such a quality product for such a cheap price. Or is it more, how can the other big players in the HGV sat nav world justify charging so much for not a lot more?!?

I have only just received this product and have not used it in anger yet but let me give some initial thoughts in regard to Pros and Cons (or instead of COns, maybe some suggestions for improvement).

I am new to HGV driving and have bought this to use at work – so at least I have one less thing to think about when out on deliveries – hopefully I will have my route worked out for me 🙂

    PROs

    1. Touch screen is very good and responsive.
    2. Feels a quality item in the hand.
    3. Free maps for life updates and speed cameras.
    4. Saving favourite destinations was easy to do.
    5. The amount of customisation on settings is great.
    6. Getting an old fashioned cigarette plug and USB plug to charge the unit by is excellent as when using in an HGV you may only have the old style cigarette plug.
    7. Soft cover provided in the box to carry unit about.
    8. The packaging is good quality box, and not just a flimsy cardboard box. I may even use it to carry the unit about with in my bag.
    9. Seems very fast in getting a few test routes I have plugged into the unit – proof will be in the pudding when I use it in anger though.

    CONs

    1. Real time traffic built in would be good (or is it there and I haven’t found it / used it yet?)
    2. Lifetime map updates are just one update a year. More frequent would have been nicer.
    3. The USB connection is not USB C its some older style – just means carrying more cables around with you that’s all.
    4. The menu system takes a little bit to get used to to find the setting you wish to change (some people may describe it as “clunky”)- though it only takes a little time to get used to.
    5. Window mount is not the type that the power cable plugs into and so when removing the unit from your vehicle you will have to unplug the power cable from your unit every time. Hopefully this is not going to be an issue regarding the connection becoming damaged over time.

As you can see, my Cons are very much personal comments and probably asking to much for the price of the unit.

All in all I am very pleased with what I have received against how much I paid compared to how much the big players are asking for their sat navs. I can’t wait to test it out in anger at work and I will update the review if I have any more quibbles though I doubt there is anything that would make me return this item. Well done NAVPAL for taking the fight to the big players.
