It’s great but when this one arrived it seemed very dim. I’d bought another Nebo worklite from a different supplier. That one had a battery shield which had to be removed before operating it. This one came ready to go which makes me wonder if it had already been used with the supplied batteries.
A new set of batteries made it work well as expected.
Just received today after waiting weeks. I have to say I was really impressed with how solid it feels. I bought it when it was on special with amazon and honestly wish I bought a couple more. I have a couple of small pen sized led work lamps from the likes of LAP etc and I have to say this feels and performs better. There is a real weight to it, the led is really bright enough to light a medium to large room. Powered by 3 AAA batteries and according to the instructions the batteries wil last 3 hours on full beam and 10 hours on low beam. Overall really nice addition to my tool box
For such a small lightweight torch it really is bright. Perfect for me as I have a lot of power cuts and I don’t like using candles.
It has 3 settings. Really bright led , slightly less bright & a flashing red. Also has a magnetic base so would be great to keep in your car.
Also came with the batteries needed, very happy with my Lil Larry torch!
This is the second (or third) of these torches I’ve bought.
The main reason I chose this one is the charging base it comes with – you simply pop it on the magnetic charging base and it’s ready when you come to use it again. It also comes with a portable charging lead that sticks to the base magnetically.
The magnetic base is good and strong to hold it in position when working, but to make it easily removeable.
The only criticism I have is that dirt tends to collect in the grooves in the magnetic base, so sometimes you don’t get a good contact there.
his is a compact, sturdily made and surprisingly bright torch. I kept a rechargeable torch in my car but the battery didn’t like being left in the cold / uncharged and I didn’t dare leave it permanently plugged in.
This one uses 3 AAAs which don’t mind so much.
Essential in the winter when punctures wait until it’s dark and raining, or when you drop your bank card down the side of the seat.
For the brief period I owned it until the wife nicked it as her new make up light, I found it well made, bright and useful charge stand. The only thing I would have liked was a separate traditional torch light on the top as well
Good sturdy light, magnetic charging base a good feature. Light bright but poor spread and magnet on base not as strong as expected. Will use as a back up torch , not everyday use one.
This light only lasted two months in the motor trade and the switch give up on the top. It was a good light until then. Warranty process is not a over complicated issue. Buy plastic instead.
Went through the warranty process to get the light replaced and it is a dead end. No contact with suppliers after the instruction to try to reset it . Contacting Amazon doesn’t work either.
Update
The manufacturer contacted me and replaced the faulty product directly after a few days it has arrived and hopefully will be a good one. Good customer service in the end .
Pretty decent for what it is, it’s a bit chunky so have to remove the battery/base and put on my vest then attach it again so once its on its on till it needs recharging. Had a few issues with the power button but overall pretty good snd very useful, bright enough to light up a room or wooded area and conveniently blinds people which is actually helpful, or use red if you want to be kind and not blind them and is still bright enough
The Big Larry 2 looks awesome, it feels awesome with a sturdy weight, and the quality metal gives it a real solid feel to it. The light generated in the white or reds is really decent. The Big Larry 2 would be the perfect work torch. Top quality!!
Still a good torch but the charging base is very flimsy and there is no torch on the end like the other Big Larry 2 versions do, still very well made and a a good addition to the shed for dark night rummaging !
Overall impressed (enough to buy two).
Positives:
Extremely bright
Great battery life
2 charge leads
Feels solid and well made
Negatives:
Proprietary connector, extra lead to carry/replace if faulty or lost. Prefer a micro USB or USB-C.
Although is magnetic, it can be difficult to position as needed, therefore is mainly good for handheld applications.
Purchased three for use when out on high hills erecting antenna masts.
The first storm was the worst this year, 03/01/23. Fixed the the exterior of the van they stayed put and performed admirably.
The dimming function can be confusing at first, but once switched on if you hold the button down again it will cycle dimmer until it blinks and then back up to full brightness where it blinks again, and so the cycle continues as long as you hold the button down. Its a case of letting go of the button to your required level of brightness.
At this time of year I use them in complete darkness so set them at the lowest level and let my eyesight naturally adjust to this. Not that they’re dim at the lowest level, nothing of the sort, but just that I like to conserve power and let my eyes compensate for free.
I have accidentally knocked them to the floor from 6ft+ to the tarmac surface several times with no effect but loss of paint.
The rechargeable battery is removable and are readily available in the UK, so all things considered these are probably an LED lamp for life.
If considering the cheaper disposable AA battery versions such as ‘Lil Larry’, be aware that rechargeable batteries won’t fit inside them. Hence I went for these and am pleased I did.
Ok, so first up im a bit of a torch freak. I have Olight, LED Lenser, Surefire, Nitecore, Klarus, Maglight (blurrrrr) and Nebo and many others. If you want the very best go buy Olight, if you want tactical go buy LED lenser, if you want the best headlight go buy Klarus. If however you want a bloody good working torch that doesnt cost a fortune, go but Nebo. Enough said.
What a lovely light. White light is really bright, and you can set the brightness asl well.
Red light lovely when camping to avoid creatures of night.
Charging is fast and very convenient using the magnetic system.
Strong magnet on the base so you can attach it to any metal object.
Really impressed and would highly recommend.
This is a great worklight, no question about it. Well built. Insanely bright if you want to, and the dimmer function is awesome.
I would have given it 5 stars if it weren’t for these small things:
1:No 230V/Usb charger included, just the stand and travel cable. I recommend to get a 230V / Usb charger with 2,4 Amps outlet or more. Just to have the charging time as short as possible. That would set you back around 10-13 pounds more so this must be added to the purchase price.
2: No hook on the top. Sure, you have the belt-clip and could hang it by a wire of your own making. But It would have been great if the hook had been included in the construction. You cannot use the magnet all the time, especially when you are working with plastics or aluminium. Because of this I will mount a hook on mine.
3: Magnetic stand/holder and charger in the same connector. This initially sounds all good. But if you repair a car or grind something, small metal chips will collect under the lamp on the charging connector. You must remember to remove these metal chips because these will short out the charging eventually.
So, with this said now you know what to look out for. Other than these small thing this really is a nice worklight. And a another thing..; The chargeable battery is very easy to replace via the bottom lid so here is a top tip: If you can live with a slightly longer chargetime, you can upgrade the battery to a battery with almost double the capacity for about 10 pounds. And then you have a worktime of about 7 hours on full effect instead of 3,5 hours…;-)
Bought this as a present so little disappointed. Looks impressive, good packaging etc and very bright torch but battery doesn’t last more than a couple of hours and the charging pad stay on red so can’t tell if it has charged fully and there is a fault with the charger or if the torch hasn’t fully charged.
Having read some of the other reviews that say after a month or so it won’t even charge, I am keeping an eye on it, if this is the case it will be going back.
On the plus side it is very bright and the magnetic base is great to allow you to stick to things when you are working…
