PALPOW [Luminous Pattern] Switch Pro Controller Wireless
PALPOW [Luminous Pattern] Switch Pro Controller Wireless Compatible with Nintendo Switch/OLED/Lite, Firefly Bluetooth Remote Gamepad with 7 LED Colors/NFC/Paddle/Turbo for Zelda Fans – Kakariko White
a wireless delight under 40, defying expectations with its impressive features. The hidden-til-lit design, offering a substantial 12-hour battery life, adds a captivating touch to gaming, easily controlled via a button on the back.
Functionality shines with 2 paddles, 2 macros, and a turbo button, providing efficient gameplay. Bluetooth compatibility extends usage beyond the Switch, and the USB-C option is convenient. Responsiveness of buttons and thumbsticks, along with motion/gyro controls and NFC reader for Amiibo, showcases impressive versatility.
Sturdy and comfortable during long sessions, the controller surprises with its quality material. Users appreciate the textured grips, extra d-pad button, and included USB-C cable. Minor drawbacks include unclear instructions and occasional mapping issues.
Despite nuances, PALPOW’s unique Sheikah Tablet-inspired LED design sets it apart, offering style and functionality at an affordable price. It’s a solid choice for Nintendo enthusiasts, showcasing PALPOW’s commitment to quality in a sleek, budget-friendly package.
The PALPOW Switch Pro Controller is for use with the Nintendo Switch but it offers so much more. The controller when not turn on looks very much like an all white controller but when its switched on it, it lights up with patterns that resembles the iconic shape from latest Tears of the Kingdom Zelda game, the lights have several different colours that you can select, once selected it memorises the chosen colour when next powered up, it can be switched off if you prefer it not to light up.
The joysticks feel comfortable, with the right amount of movement tension, around the sides of the stick it is grippy, in the middle can feel a little slippy. The ABXY buttons when pressed are good, they do not make a lot of noise. The letters are imprinted on top of the button with a slight glossy finish, they are nice, central and look stylish. Another interesting inclusion is the interchangeable ‘D’ Pad, you can choose between the disc circle ‘D pad’ or the traditional ‘+’ one (both are included in the box). One thing to note is that the bottom half colour of the controller is more cream white, almost magnolia. It is less white than the surface of the joypad. It’s not really that noticeable especially when it is lit up.
There is a feature that PALPOW forgot to mention, which for me, should definitely be added as a bonus is that you can use this ‘PalPow Switch’ Controller on other devices too. I have connected it up to my Steam Deck and iPad Pro 12.9″ M1. Both Systems instantly recognised the controller after pairing and I was able to use it immediately. One thing to note is that in order to switch between all devices, you need pair them each time. It does only remember one pair device only.
Another cool feature with this controller is the ability to awaken my OLED switch from the controller itself, not many third party controller can do this, it also rumbles when switch on. It’s a good, quiet and just the right amount of feedback. Outstandingly this also has a built in NFC for reading Amiibo figures (which worked without any setup).
Final conclusion, this controller is absolutely excellent, it’s half the price of the official controller and yet it does everything that one does, it even lights up and can be used in other systems, superb controller.
The controller connects to the switch without any problems, the kids find this easier to use rather than the original small controllers and so do I! The lights look fantastic , it really makes its look futuristic. Overall a great product and good value for money.
I’ve had mine for a week now and I can confidently say it’s been great. I’ve used the original Nintendo pro controller in the past and I’d say this one is more comfortable because of the textured grips.
The controller comes with a USB C cable and an extra d-pad button. The buttons feel nice as well as the joysticks. Also comes with a user guide that tells you how to do macro mapping/set the turbo. I tried turbo on Overwatch with Ashe and it works. Tried the macro button on Zelda too which you can see on the video.
The colour lights are lovely and bright but look especially great in the dark. There’s different modes you can set it to as well.
You can connect two controllers at once and there’s no connection issues.
Overall well worth it! I very much recommend if you’re looking for something with extra functions that also looks great.
This wireless controller is very good in the hand and I was suprised at the weight and build of it, this is great quality. When the controller is off it is completely white as the listing photos depict. To those unfamiliar with the Nintendo aesthetic the white button symbols may be too faint. You can pair it to multiple devices very easily, the only thing is that on the box it says to hold the buttons for 3seconds and inside the manual does not- ideally this extra information should be in the manual/ or on both. Very pretty lights and pattern and the controls felt great, an alternative extra D-pad is provided. The ZL/ZR buttons that typically control speed were not as deep as I expected so you may want to be wary of this if you intend to use this for PC but for Switch it is fine. It is charged through usb c only downside is the charging time at 6 hours.
I’m over 60 and found that the original controllers could make my hand painful. This is a well-designed and manufactured controller, that is ergonomic in design and fits comfortably in my hand for play. All the parts are within easy reach of my fingers and thumbs and any discomfort is hugely reduced. There are several additional features including the LEDs, but for me, it is simply a robust comfortable controller that allows me to play with the family for longer.
On initial glances, the controller looks pure white with no evidence of the circular design that you see in the pictures – that only becomes visible once the lighting effects are switched on. I actually like that, because it means that people can enjoy owning & using this controller if they don’t like the circular design or feel that the LED effects are a bit gimmicky.
The controller feel good in the hands, it’s a good weight which gives provides confidence that it is well built, but also not too heavy to cause any strain after a few hours of use. The buttons and D-pad are also nice to use – firm yes, but again not too firm to cause annoyance or for you to miss a button press entirely. The D-pad can be swapped between the classic cross shaped pad, to the circular design which will help with those combo moves in most fighting games.
The thumb sticks are also nice to use, with no drift encountered. I especially like the nodules on the end of the sticks as they provide a huge amount of grip and will enable you to pull off your desired move even if only a small part of your thumb is on contact with the stick.
On the back you’ll find a turbo button, which can be assigned to practically any action button, the rumble switch, the LED switch, two macro buttons and the programmable XR and XL buttons – a stack of features! The rumble isn’t the best as it feels a bit ‘tinny’, but that can be dialed down or turned off completely if you don’t like it. Likewise the LEDs can be set to one of 7 different colours, with them being permanently on, pulsing or activated at the same time as the rumble. The LED’s look good in a dark room, but there is noticibly less light in certain areas of the controller which is a bit of a shame.
Lastly the controller can be used on a whole host of different platforms including, Switch, Android, SteamOS, Windows and Mac.
All in all, it’s a solid controller that looks good, feels good and performs equally as well. The LED effects might not be for everyone, but turn them off and you’re left with a classic white controller which is packed with other features.
Usually, for a wireless controller under 40 you don’t expect a lot in terms of functions and quality, but this controller is seriously a great purchase.
Starting with the design, the hidden-til-lit design is seriously impressive. I was skeptical to see if it was as good as I’d seen on the product listing images but it really is! During the day I turn these lights off to save battery life (according to the manual it boasts an impressive 12 hour battery life without LEDs on!) and turn them on when having a night gaming session! It really adds a little extra to your gaming experience. The lights are very easily controlled via a small button on the back of the controller, this is used to change the colour of the LEDs and also between the lighting modes (breathing, flashing etc). Alongside the LED button, you have 2 programmable paddle buttons as well as 2 macro buttons and a turbo button! The turbo button comes in handy when farming loot on specific games where you usually just mash one button over and over again. All these programmable buttons are easily setup by following the instructions provided. Overall, I cannot fault the design of this controller at all. It feels familiar and comfortable whilst also providing lots of functionality and style with the back buttons and LED design!
As this is a Bluetooth controller it can be used with pretty much anything, I’m personally using this with my Nintendo Switch as I’m sick of getting thumb stick drift with my joycons! The pairing process was really simple for the Switch, head to settings then change controller grip/order (strange way to pair but this is Nintendo!) and simply press the HOME + Y buttons on your new controller to begin pairing. It took me seconds to get connected. This controller can also be used wired too and another bonus of this controller is that it is USB-C!
Buttons and thumbsticks are all responsive and feel nice when being used. Yet to encounter any delay or drift. This controller also has motion/gyro controls alongside an NFC reader built in for Amiibo products! Honestly, for the price, I couldn’t believe this. The rumble motors in the controller are nice too, I believe you can alter how intense the rumbles/vibrations are but I haven’t done this as I’m happy with the default setting although this is a nice setting to include!
The material of the controller feels a lot better than I expected. I assumed it would feel really lightweight and quite flimsy but it’s actually the opposite! This feels like your typical main console gaming controllers. Nice amount of weight to it and the material feels nice being held for a long time. I’ve already had a few lengthy gaming sessions using just this controller and it feels great. Cannot fault it at all.
If you are reading this review to decide whether to purchase this controller, I personally cannot recommend this enough! The price is honestly amazing for the quality of product you are getting and the after sales support is brilliant since they have a Discord server! Such a modern and effective way to deal with after sales/promotions etc!
FUNLAB/PalPow, you’ve earned yourselves a customer! I’ll be definitely getting more products and watching for new releases!
Firstly, the build quality is very good. It has a nice feel to it and good ergonomics. The manual can be unclear at times though. The back buttons are easy to reach but don’t feel very good to click. The buttons are decent, but the manual didn’t say how to replace the d-pad safely. The triggers don’t have much travel, like a normal switch joy-con, but it can be a bit uncomfortable on a controller that feels like an Xbox controller. The LEDs sadly doesn’t have any RGB settings, instead just prefixed to set colours, and there isn’t a constantly changing LED setting either. There are two settings, breathe and vibration. The breathe setting lights up slowly and fades out, as if it’s breathing. The vibration settings means the LEDs light up whenever the controller vibrates, but there is a lag between the vibration and the LED coming on. It’s only a brief flash as well so I don’t really see the need in this function. The design of the LED is brilliant and unique for a third-party controller, meant to mimic the Sheikah Tablet design from Legend of Zelda. I would say this is the main selling point of the controller. It’s easy to pair with the switch and connects instantly. It was fairly easy to map the back buttons, and they worked fine in the game, with no delay, but whenever the controller was turned off it would forget the mapping and I would have to map it all over again which was a hassle. I haven’t found a solution to this yet. The controller is USB-C charged which is very convenient. In conclusion, this is a good all-round switch controller, with a few flaws, but they’re easy to overlook while you’re using it. The LEDs are the main feature of the controller, so if you were looking to buy this for a high-end gaming experience I would suggest to look elsewhere.
