This Rimmel translucent loose powder is an excellent substitute for the recently discontinued Boots No 7 translucent loose powder. Rimmel’s powder is not drying which I assume is because it does not contain Kaolin (new Boots No 7 one does). Rimmel’s is very light in texture and gives a lovely undetectable soft finish. The colour is almost transparent but not a stark white so it blends softly and perfectly and doesn’t stand out or change the colour of foundation. If you’re looking for something subtle, non-drying and doesn’t settle in pores then this Rimmel translucent loose powder is perfect. For the price alone it’s worth giving it a try.
Really pleased I bought this as it does cover well. My skin is very pale so it suits me but for anyone who isn’t very fair skinned, this wouldn’t be suitable. The only drawback is that the loose powder falls onto your clothing when you apply it to your face.
I brought this powder recently after the other one I have used for years was discontinued. I absolutely love this powder, it’s so soft and silky and blends beautifully well with my foundation and helps to smooth out the foundation too. I have already recently brought more of this powder and where it is so defined you don’t need to much, so it last for ages too.
I have used this for years as a setting powder over my liquid foundation.
I have always been incredibly pale and it’s so nice to find a powder that doesn’t look dark. It just blends in.
I also used this for “baking” my face and it just works so well. My skin looks so smooth and and it makes the foundation nice and Matt.
This translucent power sits nicely over my make up and brings a matte finish. Great value for money especially when your testing a new type of make up and don’t want to spend a fortune.
It’s good value for money, and it doesn’t clump with your make up which is great. When I use it under my eyes my eyes water though so that could just be me. All in all happy with the product.
I’m extremely pleased with the product. However, package doesn’t seem to be full. Not super pleased with the packaging, the box is quite large and high, and it doesn’t fit in my make-up organiser. I’m looking into finding another container, because I definitely love the product and will reorder when I’m through!
Do take care opening, as it will get everywhere :)!
The powder has a nice pleasant soft scent which makes it nice to apply on your face. I don’t ever wear make up and I use this just on top of a moisturiser and it seems to do the trick of keeping the shine off my face. It does last a long time but not the whole day. My skin colour is on the mocha side and it conforms to my skin colour.
Only downside is, I apply it using a kabuki brush and every time it cakes my clothes. Best keep in mind that it does tend to be very powdery and would leave residue on clothes which to be fair, can be easily brushed off.
Lovely powder with nice matte effect. Adds light to your face and is great to fix your makeup. Only problem is that the holes of the box are a bit too big and as a result, the powder escapes the bottom receptacle really easily, so watch out not to flip it upside down too much. Also, the applier/ pad isn’t great so I would recommend using a brush to apply it.
After reading the reviews I was a little hesitant buying this product, had it been more expensive I wouldn’t have bothered but as it was so cheap I thought I’d take a risk,so glad I did, this is a lovely light powder that is a pleasure to use,so lightweight that you don’t know it’s there, keeps my face matte and does appear to soften wrinkles, doesn’t settle in lines and matches skin tone even thought it looked the colour of talcum powder which was quite off putting when I first opened it. The only criticism I have is the amount supplied,it was half full as others have stated and as it wasn’t sealed I do wonder if some had been removed? I recommend buying this powder, even half full !
Overall I really like this powder, it is easy to apply and gives a very nice finish to the skin.
However, as other reviews mentioned, the powder is very loose and tends to go everywhere.
PROS
+ Easy to apply (I use a medium/large brush rather than the soft pad it came with)
+ Works great to set foundation and gives a great finish
CONS
– Messy. The powder is very loose, goes everywhere when opening the box and applying with a brush
– Only half full. Since the box contains a soft pad as well, the powder only fills around half of the box.
First time ive puchased loose powder and I will always get it now. It holds make up in place all day and very very little shine. I have darker skin (caramel in maybelline), I get a hardly noticeable powder trace on skin but it’s fine for everyday wear. I only notice it because I keep looking for it, however id prefer not to notice anything. thats only reason why its not 5stars. Smells sweet and powder is very very fine and super light.
Best loose powder ever! Doesn’t cake like some powders tend to, lasts all day and feels lovely on the skin. It is also actually translucent so will suit any skin tone. I don’t get peoples reactions about this product being too fine and inhaling it blah blah, to me that sounds ludicrous, sure it is a fine loose powder, but not overly so. I use a brush to apply a light base of this product all over my face after my foundation before applying blusher, highlighter etc, then I use the puff provided to set my face once i’m done. Overall this product is the best value for money and for me better than the 25 mineral powder I had before discovering this.
Makes under eye concealer look airbrushed and silky, reduces the risk of creasing.
However, not sure if it would totally help with creasing for those with heavy fine lines and wrinkles in the under eye area, as a heavy hand can make your makeup look cakey,
Also minimises the look of pores when put straight on top of bare skin.
Includes a nice soft face pad to apply, I use this for large areas of my face such as cheeks, but I use a beauty sponge or brush to apply it to my under eyes and smaller areas.
Can get very messy if not careful as it is a loose powder! The smell is subtle but pleasant.
Claims to be translucent, it is on my lighter skin tone as no colour shows up but not sure if it would suit darker skin tones.
Overall a good purchase and would recommend.
Being a complete makeup junkie I have used every product you can think of. I have also tried a lot of powders with mixed results. I find that a lot of powders give a cakey appearance to makeup which I hate. As I have a mixture of dry skin with an oily t-zone I don’t apply the powder all over so I use this to set the makeup under the eyes.
This is a very lightweight powder which is great however can get rather messy as its so fine. It’s very light in colour so suits fair skin but it’s not transparent. It comes with an applicator although to be honest I find it difficult to use so would advise a good quality brush instead. I don’t think it’s the best powder I’ve used to be totally honest but I think it’s great for a cheaper alternative. I would say be careful when opening and also when dipping your brush in as it goes everywhere so will waste a lot of product. I have seen this product being used on several makeup videos for ‘baking’ (not cookery!) I haven’t tried it for that yet but I’ve seen it used successfully.
I can’t believe I have never tried this before. I gave up on a powder finish because I always found that they left my makeup looking patchy and worse as the day went on. I bought this on a whim and I’m so glad I did. I have fairly pale and really dry skin. Once I have applied my liquid foundation & leave for five minutes as I finish my hair etc, I apply this power using the puff provided (a little goes a long way) and use a brush in circular motions to blend all over my face evenly before finishing with blusher. I have found that for once, after a long day at work and unable to ‘freshen up’ my makeup, I have found that although not the same as I started the day, my makeup is now less patchy and dried out by the time I get home. I’m so happy with this product and will definitely be buying again. I have attached a picture in natural daylight with no filters, which I think shows how much of a matte finish this can create.
