Adding an extra layer of security to my vehicle, this steering wheel lock has become a personal peace-of-mind addition. It’s not just a lock; it’s a visible deterrent that keeps my car safe. The product itself is well-made and robust. It exudes a sense of durability, and it feels like a sturdy security tool. It comes with two keys that open the spring-loaded push-button lock on the side. If you’re not careful when unlocking, you could accidentally apply too much force and risk damaging your vehicle’s windshield. While this potential issue is more user-related, it’s worth noting.
On the plus side, the lock is easy to install and remove, and it doesn’t require a complicated setup. It’s a practical choice for those looking for a quick and easy-to-use security device. The lock’s bright yellow colour provides excellent visibility, even in the dark or from a distance, which adds to its effectiveness as a deterrent.
I would say its probably not the best option out there however does its job, its got a lot of weight to it and the look of it would probably be enough to stop people breaking in your car. However for me it’s not something I would look at getting.
As we all know these things are more for deterrent than an effective anti theft device. Most tests of these show they can be smashed off in anywhere from seconds to minutes.
On this basis this device is a good very bright yellow and when positioned well can be seen easily.
We run three cars and it fits them all. Different makes, all German.
The yellow coating is smooth and fairly soft but the device is heavy steel so would mark leather if left on too long. On hard steering wheels, no problem. The lock is smooth.
We have owned these before and my main recommendation is keep the spare key hidden in the car. Under a seat, under main carpets, behind boot trims etc. No key or broken key = disaster!
At its price point its a bargain. In fact we are amazed that this kit can be retailed under 20.
The only reason we dropped a star is the lock barrel is brass and in full on view. It could be drilled out in seconds with a cobalt tip drill. Using stainless or hardened steel would be pence more for a lot more security and made it add vital seconds to the removal time.
As a bargain easy to fit wheel lock thats a great deterrent its well worth buying.
