This was bought as a little gift for my niece, who currently loves switching things on and off. The build quality seems good, although it has not been given yet and the intensity of toddler hands has yet to be tested!
A pre-gifting insertion of batteries has shown that it works well and uses the different types of switches effectively. The design is really cute, with the key in the ‘door’ needing to be turned before any other switches will work.
My only possible gripe is that I would have liked the cable on the ‘plug in’ wire to be a little thicker or more thickly coated… We will have to see how that survives being used by a keen small person. Hopefully it holds up well, as the product as a whole is lovely!
Delightful toy. Main key twists to switch lights on or off, then there is a different operation to switch the lights in or off individually. One light even brightens or dims as the button is twisted. The lights are bright and the toy is easily portable by little hands. Nicely made in wood with no sharp edges. This toy ( bought for grandchild) has hardly been put down over Christmas!
If you’re looking for a kid’s toy that isn’t just another piece of plastic, this wooden busy board could be a good shout. It’s simple – a bunch of buttons and switches with lights, but I reckon it’d keep a little one busy for a while. Plus, it’s supposed to help with their motor skills and problem-solving, which is a bonus.
It’s made of wood, so it’s probably more durable than some toys out there. And it’s not just for playtime at home; looks like it’d be easy to pack for trips too. For 13.59, and with Prime for free delivery, it seems like a fair deal, especially since they offer a return option if it’s not a hit. But from what I can tell, it’s a decent pick for a preschooler’s toy.
What a beautiful piece , my daughter loves this it’s beautifully made and well finished. It’s easy to use. I’ve seen a lot of wooden toys, and this one stands out not just because it is so attractive, but for the quality. The wood is lovely, the surfaces are so smooth. the paint work is precise – it’s almost an artwork, and it’s the type of toy that will be passed from generation to generation.
I got this for my 1 year old who is currently mastering her pinch grip and hand-eye coordination.
I love that this is made from natural wood and water based paint, as she does like to taste sample her toys before giving them a go!
This toy is such a cute house design and the battery housing is located in the roof behind 2 large screws, which is very simple to change.
All the corners are rounded off, so there is little chance your child will poke their eye, and wont get splinters as the wood is very finely sanded for a smooth finish.
The whole circuit is powered by the key, so if this isn’t turned the board wont work. All the switches and knobs are “real” just as you would find in a DIY shop, so it really helps your little one with the actual strength it would require to turn a knob or click a switch, rather than fake ones which present an unrealistic expectation that all switches, buttons etc. are “easy” to do, which could result in meltdowns/tantrums down the line when they are not able to do so.
The lights are not overly bright, so there is no concern you would blind your child!
Overall, I would recommend this product as this would make a great little gift and keeps your toddler entertained.
Before handing this over to a child, you will need to find a small cross head screwdriver to access the battery compartment – after first finding your batteries. Once that is done though, it’s all great fun, with switches, lights, keys and knobs to really work your child’s fine motor skills and teach them colours. Nicely made and an unusual variant on a busy board.
The Bright Wooden Busy Board is an engaging sensory board designed for 3-year-olds. Packed with colorful LED lights and various interactive elements, it’s a great tool for developing fine motor skills and cognitive abilities. This Montessori-inspired toy offers endless fun while promoting learning through play, making it a fantastic addition to any child’s developmental journey.
Wow I love this, very sturdy toy made of wood. To start simply unscrew the roof cover and put batteries in. To start it put in the key and turn until that light comes on, then you can switch all the lights on and off. I love the little dimmer switch too, so cute. Really good for in the car and will appeal to a wide range of kids.
Well made wooden box with a variety of switches, knobs, plugs etc.
The item is powered up using the key switch otherwise it appears to not work.
The switches all appear to be proper types rather than kiddy ones and they have positive connections.
Rotating knob changes the light brightness. The others are just on or off.
Its neat and quality but it would have been much better if each, or some of the switches made a beep or a sound of some sort. After a few uses its a bit mundane. Fine for 3 year olds. By 9 they will be taking it apart as a science project.
Batter bay cover is held by two LONG woodscrews. 2 x AAA’s needed.
This light up busy board came in it’s own box so easily giftable. Currently 16.99 with 2 off, it’s about what you would usually pay. The roof part is where the batteries are stored. Just unscrew the screws with a small screwdriver (not included) and insert the (x2AAA) batteries. After I unscrewed the first time, I struggled to get the roof off to put the batteries in. I thought it had been glued down! But I managed to get it off after a minute or so.
It’s well made and safe for children. The various switches light up different parts of the busy board. It’s lightweight and easily portable. I’m pleased with it.
