It’s currently got 15% off bringing the price down to 6.70, and I think that’s insane for a USB C to HDMI adaptor that can support an ultra wide monitor up to 90 Hz, because that’s exactly what I’m running at 1440p. This is quite a lot of data and some of the cheaper adaptors I’ve used, and actually even the more expensive ones, I’ve had trouble with cutting out, artefacts, green lines, and all sorts of unusual behaviour however this has been perfect for me. I can plug it straight into any of my USB-C outputs and it will convert to HDMI to the monitor without trouble. I’ve also tried it on the TV and that works perfectly fine too
Have an ultra-wide monitor which, while not 4k, is wider than a standard 1080P resolution. The previous USB-C to HDMI adapter couldn’t display the full resolution, which meant either vertical black bars down the side, or the whole display being stretched.
This adapter works well – the screen now displays at the full correct resolution. Being able to connect another USB3 device as well is also really useful.
I tried this by using it to connect my steam deck to the TV and it worked well. The image quality is good and stable and the USB-C power input is really handy as it means I can power the SD while it’s plugged into the TV.
Working from home has been a godsend in letting me get extra sleep and save on commuting costs, but one of the drawbacks is the need to constantly plug in and remove cables for my work solution. This adapter has exactly the number of ports needed for my use, there’s a USB A for my mouse, HDMI for my external monitor and even USB CV Power Delivery for my charger, it means that I only need to plug in one cable and I’m ready to go rather than faffing around with 3 cables each time.
Operation is plug and play, you don’t need to install anything for the adapter to work and it functions as you’d expect with charging, display and my mouse connecting without dropouts. It’s a small thing but this device has definitely improved my life and has the added benefit of being portable if needed and in a solid aluminum case.
This is a well made adapter with smart grey alloy body and equally well made USB-C plug. The listing says, “Plastic shell, no more metal scratching noise when touching the laptop”, well it felt hard and cold like aluminium to me and I like it!
This simple device allows me to change my iPad Pro into a desktop computer; HDMI video to my monitor and a wireless mouse/keyboard dongle in the USB-3 socket gives me everything I need.
A big drawback with Apple products is the data connector is also the charging port – this restricts use-time to what is available from the battery. This adapter elegantly solves this problem by providing a USB-C charging port that is rated at a generous 100W PD.
To get this you do need a substantial power supply. I used a MacBook 65W version, but the instructions are confusing. The Specification tells you to use, “20V/4.5A, 20V/3.2A, 20V/2.25A”, but earlier they show a diagram with a 5V/2A power supply, or power bank, connected. I tried a lower power charger and it didn’t work – after appearing to charge it stopped at random.
I tested this adapter out when the iPad was being used for processor-intensive tasks. The battery not only kept up with what I was doing, but rapidly increased the charge. This is an excellent feature that is not always available on similar adapters, even when they claim to have it!
Being restricted to a single USB-A socket requires you to choose what is important and if a mouse/keyboard is not needed USB 3 is compatible with external storage. I checked with a Sandisk Extreme Pro 64GB micro-SD card in a card reader and a 5.7GB HD video was transferred back and forth between the card and the iPad without any problems.
Incidentally the card reader also had two USB-A ports allowing the Logitech desk-set dongle be reconnected.
This adapter is lightweight and easy to carry with an iPad, laptop, or similar. I feel it will now be essential to always have it with me, especially when I want to back up photographs and videos to an external drive, or display them on a big screen.
I also connected the iPad Pro to our Sony TV and was able to play back video on the big screen whilst still keeping the iPad charged.
This is a great little hub for use with MacBook with only USB-C ports, adds HDMI and USB-A which is great to have in the kit back to connect peripherals when out and about, the cable is very short so not really suited for the desk at home for me.
The USB-C port is power only which is a shame, it would have been nice if this took the video signal out so that I could use as a hub, a design function issue rather than not being as described.
Overall a really good thing to have in the work bag.
The 3 ports on this are:-
– a USB A power through only port, it would not detect anything USB A related (a hard drive for example).
– HDMI out – to connect to a monitor.
– a USB C port – this worked well when I connected my mouse dongle.
The adapter is well made and has a nice heavy/solid weight to it, finished in a dark grey colour.
I was using this with my MacBook and all worked well, if you only need a limited number of connection options and want to travel light this may be a better option for you than one of the multi port adapters.
The instructions that comes with this USB C to HDMI Adapter / USB C Charger / USB 3.0 Hub clearly indicate that it can be used as a way to connect USB devices to a phone (with USB C charging / data port). However, when I plugged it in to my Google Pixel 7 Pro, the phone would constantly attempt to charge the hub, and there was no way to change this behaviour. Even when a USB thumb drive was inserted, it was impossible to switch to data transfer mode.
To be fair, this is probably a ‘feature’ of the Pixel rather than an issue with the adapter / hub. For some reason Google did not enable video out on the phone, so there’s no way, other than by using Chromecast, to connect to an external display.
With other devices, I encountered no problems.
The device is well made, with a decently thick connection cable. It’s pocket sized and lightweight, so easily carried.
This USB-C hub meets the requirements in terms of functionality: HDMI, USB-A (data) and PD (in) work and have been treated using an iPad and a Windows laptop. There are no markings/text on it indicating any tech specs and the device feels light and hollow but that isn’t a bad thing. Used it for short periods, so can’t say anything about long term use but so far so good.
Great adapter safe to use with no juicejacking or overloading via the pins. works perfectly with a 4k monitor hdmi to hdmi. the power input is up to a maximum of 55W as opposed to the 100W mentioned in the headline (Tested with a 65W Charging brick), uses power delivery 3.0 and conforms to the Apple-2.4A standard so would be excellent for charging a mac as passthrough. It did get quite warm to the touch when testing at 55W but not burning hot, so maybe dont put it on anything fabric.
Overall a great little adapter, does not feel light and cheap and its safe to use with most devices, no spikes in power delivery once the handshake is complete between device and charger.
USB 3.0 x1 is available on the adapter but I’d guess it shares bandwidth with the HDMI.
