Alright this smart thermometer isn’t perfect, it’s actually quite a good little device.
Setting up is quite straightforward in the sense you just need to download the appropriate app and turn the thermometer on via the hub; then it’s just following the instructions on the app and it will be connected in no time.
The app is actually where it lets the product down a little as it could be a bit more user-friendly, but that’s not to say it isn’t usable, far from it.
You can change the temperature unit in a click of a button and can select which meat you’re wanting to cook and how you like it where the app will change the target temperature based on your selection.
It’s important to note that when inserting the thermometer, you will need to insert it past the safety line which is clearly marked; secondly, the hub needs to be within 1.5m away from the probe (but your phone can be much further away).
The tracking seems to be really good and just as it’s supposed to, will alert your phone when the desired temperature has been reached; you can of course check on the app with only a couple of seconds delay what the current temperature is; otherwise, just wait until you’re notified.
I do have a meat thermometer, but not like this one, which you use remotely with a Bluetooth or Wi-Fi device, I have downloaded the APP, to use with this wireless thermometer. The wireless range is around 150m, though I doubt you will be this far from the BBQ or home oven or grill.
The App is really the main thing here, as you use it to monitor the food, you just insert the thermometer in the meat and the App then does the rest, I have used this to cook chicken in my oven and the App told me the inner temperature of the chicken and the ambient temperature of the oven, I set the alarm on the App, so it warned me when I wanted to look at the chicken, this is an excellent device as it prevents overcooking or burning your food as the App warns you, though, of course, you need to set it properly.
The thermometer is fairly small and much like the normal type it comes with the charger and needs around 30 minutes to fully charge up, except it is not as long, only about 6 inches or so. This is a nice idea for a present for someone who does a lot of cooking, they will certainly like it, but my only reservation is the price, it is a bit dear and this may put off some people, as it will be regarded as a novelty item or an unnecessary one, so for that reason, I have taken off a star and give it four stars.
