Still waiting for my motor but car theft mad at the moment in the area and my son’s nurse had car stolen from outside my house with a keyless entry. Hopefully it will just be a reason for the thefts to try a different car. Like the pouch for the key with the steering wheel lock so double protecto
This BWISUP steering wheel lock fits the steering wheel of a Skoda Fabia well. It’s a simple design and easy to secure to the steering wheel without being awkward – simply by pulling the two ends of the rod apart with your hands, expanding the length of the bar so it fits your wheel securely.
It comes with 3 sets of keys to unlock the device which is extremely useful if you lose a set. All keys fit well into the lock and open the lock smoothly and quickly with no hassle. It also comes with some foam strips to protect against rubbing on the wheel although you must put those on the U-shaped clips yourself which can be a bit fiddly to do right.
Altogether I am happy with this wheel lock. The lock, being stainless steel and black in colour, looks much better compared to those yellow plastic ones and discs you can get on the market. So far nobody has tried breaking in, so can’t say for sure how well it protects against thieves. But it does seem very well built – being solid and robust. In my opinion the lock is worth it regardless as it acts as a mean-looking deterrent to thieves looking for targets and gives you that extra peace of mind leaving your car in rougher areas.
I am lucky to live in a fairly safe area, so I would not automatically reach for a wheel lock, but every now and then I travel to locations where I am less comfortable leaving the vehicle, especially overnight, so something like this would be a useful deterrent against attempted theft.
It certainly feels solid and is quite weighty to hold, so it gives the impression nobody is going to simply break the lock and drive off. Needless to say if you lose the key you are not going anywhere. Fortunately it comes with three copies, so you should make sure you keep a spare somewhere safe.
Short of asking a professional car thief to try stealing the car it is hard to really test this, but it fits to the steering wheel effectively and I can see no way it could reasonably be disabled without access to the key, so if you are concerned about your car’s safety this should do the trick.
It also comes with a Faraday bag that provides a signal blocker for your vehicle key fob, but I am not sure I would use that very often.
