This is a very nice dock except for one thing it doesn’t do that my old one does, and that is turn on the TV when I turn on the Switch on either our Samsung or Sony TV’s
Other than that we are very happy with this dock in both looks and functionality
This works well and like how compact it is. Perfect for traveling. However, when you doc your switch, its docking port extends a bit too high causing the switch to teeter on the doc. This makes me a bit uneasy since if you mistakenly bump into it, and it could cause the switch to become dislodged and fall.
To fix this issue, the packaging includes silicone pads. Once the pads are installed the console doesn’t teeter. I fear that while traveling the pads that are stick on could get lost and you are back to teetering. Hope this review helps.
I got the grey model and it has a nice nostalgic vibe to it, once I set it up. Because I don’t use a protector to cover my Switch, I needed to use the rubber pads that are included to properly protect the switch from rubbing against the docking station which proved to be no problem. The Switch easily connected to the USB C male port and could be pulled from the docking station with no issue. The button to switch it from handheld to tv output, worked with about a 1 second delay. I can see the value of it as a stand that you can use to charge your Switch while you play it in handheld mode, but personally, I think it works best as a spare or travel dock. The only issue I have with the product is that there isn’t an included HDMI cable; for the price they’re charging, I would expect at least that. If they included an AC adapter, this would be a steal at the price, but you’ll have to reuse your own or devise another solution. Overall it’s well designed, has a great nostalgic look, travels well, and is very compact considering all the extra ports you get to charge your switch and its accessories.
Generally speaking this works well. Connects to tv or computer. Functions well without lag. Good graphics. Only minor issue is that it was a bit tight to connect and disconnect the switch from the dock and it didn’t come with power adapter ( but could get one reasonably priced that worked). So not great for regular traveling back and forth but smaller than the Nintendo version and a good value for the price.
So I wanted to have an additional way to dock my Nintendo switch that was a smaller footprint. What attracted me to this product was designed and look of it which I think is fantastic. It works just as good as the dock that came with my Nintendo switch. The ports and styles that it offer are good and it seems to fit nice and snug with my OLED switch. All in all I think this is a fantastic replacement and again I really like the style and look of it. // Looks
I love the look in person. Themed peripherals are always cool.
// Quality
It’s very light, but it doesn’t seem low quality. It’s sturdy and supports the Switch well. You don’t need to touch it at all to dock and undock it.
// Form Factor
It’s low profile and easy to insert the Switch into. This is great for entertainment centers with limited vertical space (photo).
// I/O
I didn’t expect a full array of I/O ports, but they’re there! All in an easy to access area.
// I Like It!
I can definitely recommend this as an additional dock or replacement for the OEM gray. It’s much cheaper, looks better, easier to use, and works just as well as if you got it from Nintendo themselves.
I was very nervous to use a non-Nintendo 3rd party portable dock because of horror stories I remember about poorly made docks bricking the Switch. This one worked great though. Make sure that you use a switch power adapter or third party adapter with the correct specs to ensure proper usage. Great picture and the button on top that allows for switching inputs worked great and was convenient. Comes with several USB ports to plug in headphones or charging cables.
My only complaint is that once it is docked, it is a little difficult to undock; with the OEM dock it easily lifts right out. This dock makes such a secure connection that you need two hands, one to hold down the dock and another to firmly remove the switch. Still a great product.
