These arrived about an hour ago so I got out in the garden and have pruned back some small trees and bushes and these are fantastic secateurs. Very sharp easy comfy grip handles and the price was so cheap. Thanks Linda.
Will recommend them to all my family and friends
The sponge handles and light weight make for comfortable and effective application of pressure. Once I started I used them for an hour. Very sharp. Detailed work easy. No pinching of my palm in use like some secateurs have done before. So efficient nothing was safe!! No discomfort. My hands can be easily weary usually. Best secateurs I’ve had -ever. And all for a tiny price.
I’m no gardener (sorry) but when my garden started to resemble something out of ‘The Day of The Triffids’, I knew I had to do something. The strimmer took care of most of the weeds and tall grass but I was left with some very stubborn and very strange looking flora and fauna. Scissors weren’t going to cut it (pardon the pun), so I looked up some secateurs. These were on offer at 7.99 – a snip – (pardon the pun again), so I ordered them. Firstly, they work. They will cut through anything – even the weird plant/weed things that have appeared in my garden for the first time – I blame climate change or maybe aliens. The blade is rust-proof – big tick as I’ll probably leave them outside all winter. I’m forgetful like that. They’re ergonomically designed with cushioned handles. A big plus for me as I have carpal tunnel and a touch of arthritis in my wrists. What’s more the titanium blade will cut through anything with minimum effort. Now that’s what I call a tool. Though there are a few of them around here now you mention it.
I recently purchased the JiveSnip Premium Titanium Garden Secateurs specifically for maintaining my bonsai trees, and they have exceeded my expectations. Here’s my detailed review:
What I Like:
– Precision Cutting: The titanium blades are incredibly sharp, allowing for precise and clean cuts. This is crucial for bonsai care, where accuracy is essential to maintain the tree’s shape and health.
– Durable Construction: These secateurs are built to last. The high-quality materials, including the titanium blades and sturdy handles, ensure they can withstand regular use without deteriorating.
– Ergonomic Design: The ergonomic handles provide a comfortable grip, which is important during detailed pruning sessions. They reduce hand fatigue, making it easier to work on my bonsai for extended periods.
– Safety Lock: The built-in safety lock is a great feature, allowing me to securely lock the blades when not in use. This is especially important for safety, ensuring the secateurs are safe to handle and store.
– Rust-Resistant: The titanium coating makes the blades rust-resistant, which is particularly beneficial for a tool that will be exposed to moisture and sap.
– Smooth Mechanism: The cutting mechanism is smooth and efficient, requiring minimal effort to make precise cuts. This enhances the overall ease of use and effectiveness, especially for intricate bonsai work.
What I Dislike:
– Price: The secateurs are on the higher end of the price spectrum. However, considering their durability and performance, they are worth the investment.
– Weight: They are slightly heavier than some other models, but this is a minor issue given their robustness and build quality.
Value for Money:
The JiveSnip Premium Titanium Garden Secateurs offer excellent value for money. Despite the higher price, the superior quality, durability, and performance justify the investment. These secateurs are a reliable tool that will last for years, making them a worthwhile addition to any gardener’s toolkit, especially for bonsai enthusiasts.
Conclusion:
Overall, I am extremely satisfied with the JiveSnip Premium Titanium Garden Secateurs for my bonsai care. They excel in sharpness, durability, and ease of use, making the meticulous task of bonsai maintenance much more manageable and efficient. While they are priced higher than some alternatives, the exceptional quality and performance make them well worth the cost. I highly recommend these secateurs to anyone looking for a reliable and effective tool for bonsai or general gardening tasks.
Would I buy it again? Absolutely!
Pruning becomes a breeze with these tools. The razor-sharp blades effortlessly cut through branches, and their well-crafted design makes them comfortable to hold. Even after several weeks of use, they continue to perform exceptionally well. Given their price, I believe they offer fantastic value for money
This is a great pair of bypass shears – preferable when you need to cut or prune near a bud without crushing the stem. The blades arrive lightly lubricated (you may want to give it a wipe so as not to leave a residue), but it still cuts branches and stems cleanly.
The locking mechanism (to keep the blades shut when not in use) is a little stiff, but still usable, and the handles are wrapped in a soft foam that, whilst is comfortable to hold and squeeze, can make it a little wide for smaller hands to use.
Overall though, I like these shears, they cut cleanly and are comfortable to hold
These make pruning really easy. The blades are razor sharp and cut through the branches with ease.
They are well made, comfortable to hold and they’re still performing well after several weeks of use.
Considering the price I thinking they’re fantastic value for money.
With our Autumn garden waste collection about to end, our back garden needed some last-minute trimming and cutting before the winter season, and my old pair of shears weren’t quite up to the task. Hence when I saw these pair of garden shears, I decided to give them a go.
The shears come packed in plastic packaging and look like a solid pair. It’s lightweight, the handle is incredibly soft and comfortable to hold and the blade is exceptionally sharp. This made quick work of cutting and pruning all branches and the foliage around the house, particularly on our outer fence which was covered with vines.
The shears come in black with orange accents around the handle, they feature a safety lock towards the booster spring and have the JiveSnip branding on the blade. It would have been nice to get a spare set of blades, but regardless it is a good pair available at a good price.
These Snips come with a spare blade and spring which made me wonder about their long levity if this was needed. On first inspection they look well made and the sponge handles seemed a nice touch, although I did wonder how they would fair after they were wet.
On trying them out, I found that my small hands wouldn’t reach around the additional width of the sponge covered handles. However the sponge just slips off and so I used them without.
I used them to dead head and generally tidy up and they cut cleanly and easily. I also tried them to cut back a rather woody Bay Tree and here they struggled more and I had to apply a lot more pressure than I do with my usual pair.
They have a simple locking mechanism to keep them shut, but think this may fail with wear as I have found with similar types in the past.
For 13.99 they are more expensive than my usual well known make and I am sceptical they will have as long a life span if you are a keen gardener, but for deadheading and an occasional tidy up they work well.
HANDLES: The orange stripes on the handles are a really good idea because it means the secateurs stand out from grass or ground so you can easily spot where you’ve put them if you left them on the ground while tending to other things.
The handles have foam grips around them for a non-slip, softer, comfortable hand-feel. Use of foam in products in general doesn’t tend to make me feel a product is of the highest quality, because I wonder about its longevity, but at least for now, it makes holding the handle a pleasant, comfortable experience. The listing says the foam is wear-resistant so hopefully my worries about foam being prone to wear and tear may be proven wrong.
LOCK: You can lock the secateurs shut with the safety lock. It works well.
IN ACTION: I put these to the test in the garden, chopping down my dried up pea and squash plants, and these did a fantastic job, even on the 3/4 inch thick squash stem. Just to test it, I also tried cutting some woody thin bamboo branches and it managed those well too. Comfortable to use, it cut everything on the first try. I couldn’t fault them at all.
OTHER NOTES: These bypass secateurs comes with spare parts (a spare top blade and a spare spring), which is thoughtful.
OVERALL: Lightweight, easy to use and efficient. Squeezing the handles on nothing but air, there is a slight feeling that these aren’t your most-premium type of secateurs and I do wonder about how long they’ll last. But I was pleased with their performance in action. They certainly do the job!
I really like that these come with a “Spare blade” and a replacement “Spring”, because that just adds to the longevity of these for me.
These cut very well, I’m impressed with just how sharp they are, and the fact that “Heavy BlackBerry vines”, “Ivy”, and even “Bamboo” is so easy to cut(see video).
I find the handle on these is nice to hold too, the foam padding just makes them less abrasive on my fingers and palm, and gives them a nice amount of grip when my hand is ungloved. I have a large spread of Blackberry bushes that I’ve put down one side of the garden, and a wall of ivy, which both require a fair amount of upkeep, so having something with a nice sharp blade, and a comfortable handle is important to me, because it just makes the job so much easier, and then the fact I can just switch out the blade and/or the spring, making the one set of secateurs last me even longer, is fantastic.
I’m very happy with these, I can operate them one handed, including putting on, taking of the “Lock”,a dn they feel great.
Very happy with these.
