OMOTON for Mag-Safe Phone Car Mount, [Upgraded Hook Clip
OMOTON for Mag-Safe Phone Car Mount, [Upgraded Hook Clip] Car Phone Holder with 360° Rotation and Extended Arm,[20x N52 Magnets] Hands Free Magnetic Phone Holder for Car, Fit for iPhone 15 14 13
Great phone holder this one, I’ve tried all the stick to the dash style and after a few adjustments they always fall off.. this one slides through your air outlet and tightens down easy and the magnetic end allows plenty of movement to suit, already ordered another one for my wife
I like the fact it is easy to put together, not bulky at all and has got a really good magnet.
My phone in the picture doesn’t have MagSafe case but it still attached properly to the magnet and didn’t fall off while being shaken.
It pops easily into the vent and the fact you can rotate it whatever way you need and adjust the angle – great. Seems more ‘tidy’ to use than older car phone holders, and so easy to pop on and off the phone without the fuss of adjusting the angle or position you need it in.
It comes with additional two magnetic rings (in case you need to attach to a non MagSafe case) and the usual paper measurement ‘tool’ to make sure you place the additional ring in the right place to increase magnetism.
I think I became a fan of Omoton products as I also have the magnetic ring holder from them that is simply brilliant.
Worth the price and recommended.
Just the ticket!
I was looking for a decent mag safe phone holder that flips around so I can use it as dash cam while going through rough areas when I need to and this has done the job perfectly.
It’s really sturdy and the materials used feel really strong.
The magnets are absolutely strong enough to hold my phone securely.
It’s installs in the air vents with ease
Overall its a great but of kit and does the job well
Its worth noting that there are many types of car on the market and that each may have a different arrangement for the high level air vents. So this review is only for the mount tried out on my 2018 Qashqai. Also note that I’ve had the opportunity to review four different types of mount so this gave me a good idea of what to look out for.
Its also relevant to point out the UK law doesn’t allow for operating a phone while driving and you should consult the relevant legislation before use.
The stock photos on the listing give an accurate description of what the mount consists of. The actual fixing that goes into the air vent is good and the ingenous folding hook works well, meaning it was easy to fit in and also clamps well when screwed home. There’s an extra flange included in the box to accomodate different widths of vents. When used on my car the mount was very secure and the weight of the phone didn’t cause any problems with the air vent being lose to move up and down. It was fixed in one position. The vent could still be open and closed but not adjusted in direction, which wasn’t a problem for me.
Assembly and installation is pretty easy and there’s a reasonable user quide included. If you don’t have a phone that meets the Apple Magsafe standard there are two metal rings that can be stuck on the back of your phone or phone case. These will be what the magnetic arm attaches to.
Included is a guide to position the metal rings on the back of your phone but for some curious reason the advice is not to directly mount the rings on the phone but onto a clear sticky plastic circle of material included in the box, which is stuck on the phone or case first. Unfortunately these plastic circles are bigger than the positioning guide so you have to make a guess at where they go. The guide can then be used to position the metal rings.
Once fitted the mount magnet really grabs the phone and holds it solidly. I’ve been over many bumpy roads and seen no movement of the mount.
The mount arm is designed to be swung through 360degrees so gives you a lot of freedom to position the phone.
There were just two minor downsides for me.
The mount arm is fairly large in comparison to some other mounts and I couldn’t get a comfortable position of the phone for me.
The other downside is that the advice to use the plastic circles to stick the metal disks to, offers no reason as to why. I used them but found that after removing the phone a few times – which takes quite a bit of pulling – the metal disks were pulling the plastic circles off the phone case. It may be better to mount the rings directly or to get some larger metal shims.
All in all its a good mount.
Using with an iPhone 13 Pro Max – I’ve tried on a car with normal vents, and also on a Volkswagen ID. Buzz which has… odd… vents
The unit is easy to mount on both thanks to the easy twist-mechanism. Wind it back, and the prong retracts and extends further out. Wind it forwards and the the prong grabs on and retracts back in, holding it on to the vent.
It works a lot better on the standard car vents – however I have managed to get it attached to the odd style vents in the ID.Buzz below the touch screen and it is holding strong.
The mount comes with a magnet that you can put inside your existing case, however I am using with a Magsafe iPhone case.
This magnetic car holder provides greater security and flexibility than usual. It is provided with an upgraded folding hook clip, which not only protects against knob overload but also is convenient to disassemble. It has a flexible twisted gimbal with 360-degree rotating extension rod providing personalized positioning. It has 20 high-quality magnets which are carefully and thoughtfully designed not to overheat or clog up air vents as part of an overall design that aims for stability rather than mere strength in the final product, guarantees a firm hold.
High-quality product at a very reasonable price and hence is recommended.
I was worried about the arm and how sturdy it would hold a phone but with the grip strength of the magnets and the vent mounting solution it’s actually very sturdy and won’t fall off easy. The arm also gives great flexibility on how to aim the phone towards you in the car.
The OMOTON Mag-Safe Phone Car Mount exceeded my expectations with its secure and stable hold.
The 360 rotation and extended arm offer versatile positioning and the impressive magnet strength ensures a strong and reliable magnetic connection, for your iPhone.
This worked perfectly in my wife’s T-Roc for her iPhone 12 pro.
It succeeds in both being convenient and looking good in your car.
It actually looks like a Volkswagen accessory almost.
It doesn’t feel cheap either, the materials used for it feel solid and premium.
The design is also intuitive being really easy to set up.
Excellent choice for a phone mount in your car.
So I didn’t realise the magnet sticks to the phone/case permanently. I don’t like walking around with a magnetic ring on my phone. It has a strong magnetic attraction. I stupidly got the first magnet stuck to the base. Can only be removed by sticking to the phone. Ooops!
Works well. Clips to air vents. Easy to position for driver to view. Got set. I think I’d rather have a bracket to hold my phone in future.
What a great little product, its quite ingenious the way the prong extends and allows for connection to any size air vent, and it provides a very sturdy mount with a strong magnet that once attached, can then swivel into almost any position. Also, If your device isnt magnetic, this mount also comes with stick on rings that will allow you to mount any device.
Extremely happy with this purchase and would definitely recommend!
The holder is designed to fit most smartphones, making it a versatile solution for households with different devices. The extended arm allows for easy access to your phone, ensuring that you can keep your eyes on the road while still staying connected.
The rotation feature allows you to adjust the angle of your phone to your preferred viewing position. This feature is especially useful for navigation apps, as it allows you to quickly and easily view directions without having to take your eyes off the road.
Installation is quick and easy, with the holder attaching securely to your car’s air vent using a strong clamp. The compact design ensures that it doesn’t take up much space in your car, allowing for a clean and organized setup.
Overall, I highly recommend this car phone holder for anyone looking for a secure and convenient way to use their phone while driving. Its versatile features, compatibility, and easy installation make it an essential accessory for anyone who values safety and convenience on the road.
This magnetic phone holder came neatly boxed, complete with 2x spare magnetic rings, alignment guide, adhesive film and instruction manual with pictures that was clear and helpful.
The 2 part holder is compatible with magsafe iPhone and magsafe cases. The black holder feels strong & sturdy and matches our car interior perfectly. The easy to follow manual made it simple and easy to set up and holder can be adjusted to desired angle. Fits securely to vent once mounted with clamp and remains stable so no danger of it falling off when car in motion or hits any bumps in the road.
Its recommended to clean back of phone with wet wipe enclosed before attaching to holder magnet. Also, to protect phone or case the manual recommended sticking the PE film enclosed onto back of phone. Looks like manufacturer has thought of everything.
This phone holder will make travel experience so much better and safer – holding phone in place while device is charging in the car, allow hands free use of phone calls using auto answering and availing of talking maps for directions and allowing caller identity be visible at a glance without taking eyes off the road. Ideal also for keeping phone within ear shot while listening to podcasts on long journeys or be mini TV for the entertainment of small ones in the back.
I like that the holder can be rotated to passenger side of car also from centre vent and that spare ring magnet can be fitted to another phone to make it compatible for use on the holder. A paper location guide is enclosed to help attach the magnetic ring correctly in centre of phone.
Would recommend this phone holder for hands free and safer use of phone while travelling in a vehicle especially if used alongside auto answer on your device. Could work very well and provide safer experience for those that depend on their phone for work reasons, for travel or just for everyday use and convenience.
This would make a nice stocking filler or secret santa gift.
Hope this review has been helpful.
This is great but keep in mind it only holds the phone does not charge it. Nevertheless it is a very well designed and strong holder despite its small size. Very nice piece of kit! Recommended!
You can see this holder is well built and solid when you unpack it. The clip has a adjustable screw mechanism to ensure it clamps onto the vent and stays tight.
Tested with an iPhone 15 Plus which is a decent size and weight. The phone adheres to the magnetic holder with a satisfying clunk and at no point was I ever worried it would ever come lose.
Definitely one of the better holders I’ve tried, great for iPhone users who have a Magsafe compatible device. Just a shame it doesn’t charge as well, but I already have a charger in the car so it wasn’t an issue.
I’m using this with a “magsafe” case on my Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. It’s powerful enough to grab the case from the desk, and won’t drop off even with a good amount of me throwing my arm around. It’ll definitely take whatever road conditions you throw at it.
I’d recommend a quick read of the instructions to familiarise yourselves with how to get it located and locked in place on your car vent. It’s not difficult but you just don’t want your phone and mount falling off the dash while you’re driving.
I’ve had magnetic mounts before where you attach a piece of metal to the back of the phone and this is a far, far better option.
I had never tried one of these before having always used my dedicated satnav. However, with an ever increasing need to have live traffic updates, I wanted to use one of the navigation apps on my iPhone and therefore required a car mount for it. This OMOTON for MagSafe Car Mount comes complete with an additional metal ring to enable your non MagSafe phone to be used on this mount.
The instructions were easy to follow and within minutes, I had the mount attached firmly to the air vent in my car. The rotation of the ring allows me to position my phone so I can see it easily without obstruction.
My phone is fitted with MagSafe and it attached very firmly to the ring.
I am very happy with this car mount and at the price of 21.99 feel it is very good value.
My phone sticks to thsi perfectly for the whole drive; no chance of messing up my directions when I’m on the go! Easy to set-up, and works with most any phone. Great strength.
Pros:
– Strong magnet
– Sleek design
– So easy to lock your phone into the mount
– Great intuitive design, both in terms of how it fits onto your car’s vents, but also how you can angle the holder towards you
– Easy to install, simple twist the dials to lock the mount in place to the vent and the ball joint
– Good angle adjustment to make sure the phone points in the direction you want it too
Cons:
– Depending on your car’s vent, you may find it difficult to adjust the vents direction with the phone holder in place
All in all, a great mount which I am likely to buy more of for the other car in the household
I hope you find this review helpful
I listen to books when driving and use my headphone controls to adjust volume etc. I thought this would be a useful way of keeping my phone from slipping off the seat but I’m not sure if it’s legally compliant as we are no longer allowed to touch our phones whilst driving. However, if you want to use Google maps or similar, it’s a useful gadget.
Positives: It can be used with iPhones. It has a strong magnet; the phone definitely stays put. Useful to have 2 sets.
Negatives: It would be useful if the template hole was bigger than the PE film so that you could get the PE film bang in the centre as well. Mine is a bit off because it didn’t fit through the hole, so I had to do it by eye.
All in all, a useful item that does the job it’s designed for.
The phone holder arrived in a small branded cardboard box, inside you get the phone holder and removable support base, 2 x magnetic rings, 2 x case protectors, 1 x paper aligner, cleaning wipes and instructions, the instructions are thorough and simple to follow and understand.
In the past I have not been keen on phone holders that grip onto the air vents in my car, I find that they move around as the vents alter direction and they constantly slip out, that is not the case at all with this MagSafe holder by Omoton.
The holder is well made and thought out, the base slides in between the vent, you tighten up the base that in return drops a clamp arm inside pulling the base up tight onto the vent, it even stops the vent from moving directionally (this may vary between cars and vent sizes), you can remove the bottom stability sleeve if you are tight for space.
My iPhone 14pro finds the magnetic holding ring easily, I use a MagSafe case and so there is no requirement to use the metal rings supplied, phone can be positioned vertically or horizontally.
The holder has a ball joint and can be moved around freely before turning the lock to a standard position, once the holder is positioned and the base is tightened (you can’t over tighten the base as once it gets to a certain pressure then it will just click out), then you can adjust the angles and the position of the arm on the ball joint.
Overall, quick and easy to setup, a much quicker way to attach your phone when compared to a standard method, lots of angle adjustments, holds a phone securely in position, looks minimalist once attached, locks vent in position, thank you.
My first initial impression was, “oh OK it’s small”, that said it’s actually just right. Obviously most items with a long neck struggle with stability issues. Plus the design does mean your phone isn’t blocking the vent. Obviously positioning of the neck and the size of your phone may still block the vent.
I liked the little touches with the numbering of the cleaning and drying wipes. Great attention to detail.
The clamp itself once fitted appears to be sturdy, but I did remove the foot ring around the base of the clamp otherwise (which slides on and off) it wouldn’t fit my car.
The clamping mechanism, that orange tab goes flat when you’re winding the mechanism outwards, then when the rod is in position, wind it up tight and the tab extends out. Great idea, at this point does seem a little over complicated versus others I’ve used, plus less is more when it comes to long term reliability? I suppose this option allows the clamping bar to be thicker than usual? Which may cause fitment issues with some vents.
Overall nice and stylish and a pleasing functional addition to my Volvo.
