Panasonic KX-TU550 Good & easy for elderly or someone that only needs to phone or text not spend time on the internet & very well made.
Instrutions very small, but you can get them in PDF & read them in any size

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe clamshell mobile phone is well suited for seniors, offering a straightforward and intuitive interface. The large 2.8″ display is easy to read, and the simplicity of the phone ensures ease of use for those who may not be tech savvy. The inclusion of a 1.2MP camera is a nice touch for capturing memories, and the black colour adds a classic touch. One of the standout features is the impressive 300 hours of standby time, which means less frequent charging, a critical factor for older individuals

Only criticism is the paper instructions included in pack. The print was so small there was no way a senior citizen could read it, I found a magnifying glass but even then the instructions were vague. Also disappointed the ringtone couldn’t be changed.
On the plus side it feels really good in my hand, no chance keys will be pressed in the pocket. Bought for my non techie husband whilst he is in hospital. A good produc

I actually ordered this as a spare phone – I do a lot of travelling and I’m always a bit worried about losing my or having my iphone stolen as it has all my contacts on it. I ordered a suitable sim from o2 and it works perfectly. It was easy to set up and the interface is really user friendly.
It holds charge well too. It gives me a sense of security when I’m away that I will still have access to a phone and contacts if I were to lose or break my main one. I’m really pleased I ordered it and would happily recommend.

Navigating this mobile phone has been a breeze for my parents. Its large display is a relief for their eyes, and the buttons are just the right size for effortless dialing. They’ve taken quite a liking to the built-in camera for snapping pictures of their garden. The durability is reassuring too — it survived a drop on the patio with barely a scuff. What stands out is the peace of mind the emergency call function provides, ensuring they can reach us at the press of a button.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersNo smart features or app stores here, it’s a simple phone that does what it should. It doesn’t feel like it is anything more than an old flip phone, and doesn’t really update any of the old flip phone features to be any better than they used to be. The camera is a good example of this with how poor the quality is. This phone is ideal if you want something cheap and simple to make calls on, a big plus it has going for it is the size of everything, the number pad, the screen, and buttons are all very visible and clear what you are pressing, it’s something you could give to an older or non tech savvy person without overwhelming them with hundreds of features.

The phone is well built and sturdy. It’s taken several falls onto a hardfloor and the screen is perfect, the buttons work fine, and it only picked up a slight scuff mark on the corner. It also comes with a docking station which works well. The battery life is one of the few things I feel has been improved from the older flip phones as I rarely need to charge it, and with the docking station it’s easy to keep it charged at all times and avoid losing it.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersIt boasts a 2.8-inch large display, although the resolution might not deliver the crispest fonts. Its battery life is commendable, lasting four to five days on a single charge, reducing the need for frequent charging. The phone features large buttons, making it suitable for the elderly, and a straightforward interface. Additionally, it incorporates three special buttons on the keypad for quick access to frequently dialed contacts. Despite having a rear camera, the camera’s pixel quality isn’t exceptional. The price of 79.99 for it might be considered slightly on the higher side given its features and capabilities. There are other mobile phones available in the market at a similar price range or slightly higher that offer better specifications and functionality.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI thought this was pretty good! In the box you get a helpful manual, a charging cable and cradle, some headphones, and the phone itself. It was all packaged well and the phone battery came with some charge, to boot, so you could open it up and immediately get started.

I tested the phone for just under a month to see how it fared. It’s incredibly sturdy; it took drops and knocks very well. The screen is pretty bright and very easy to read, and the buttons are responsive. The torch was alright – nothing to write home about, but, equally, not obnoxiously poor. You accessed it by pressing a button on the side of the phone. The camera was probably the lowest point for this phone – even in well-lit conditions it really struggled.

The keypad was good, and responsive! As was the emergency button on the back. I like that it is customisable! The phone doesn’t feature apps in the traditional sense – it has a very basic UI, which is good, as it isn’t overwhelming at all. It sends and receives texts well, and though the phone speaker isn’t incredible, it works well and I didn’t struggle to understand anybody on calls.

As a basic, accessible phone, this is fantastic and really hits the mark I think. The only downside is the camera is pretty poor. But, if you need a phone that does all the basics, I think this is a really good choice.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good device, struggles a little with the camera.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis mobile is a very easy to use phone compared with the smartphone, iPhone. This is a Sim Unlocked phone, Just insert sim card (nano sim type only) and switch on and call. The switch on time is just around 7s time (NOT at least minute of smartphones to boot)
I got an old type of cellphone which was 12 years old, 2G network only, therefore this phone is an upgrade to support 4G networks.
Finally, it is interesting to find many user guides in the box with all the different languages. There is a earphone, charging pod and a usb A to C cable as well. Charging with usb C is a plus for the latest trend.
Comes with one battery and it lasts for around 8-10 days when I leave it on and standby.

There is one minor thing to be noted: when you put in the sim, make sure the direction is correct. I did make a mistake and mess a bit.
The SOS button at the back is a feature for us to contact with someone needed in emergency. Good for elder to call when they are in need.

Overall, Panasonic always build something with good quality. Solid and durable.

I find it a good one to use by elderly as this is a relatively easy to use phone with an Sos button. On the other hand, I also use it to replace it as a home phone instead of subscription to landlines.

I think this does an excellent job of fulfilling it’s function as a ‘senior mobile phone.’

Being made by Panasonic the build quality is really good. It’s a clamshell flip phone so this helps protect the screen when not in use. It’s pretty robust so would stand up to being dropped or banged about. Call quality is nice and clear and the loudspeaker works well.

It has a few stand out features which I like:

    – dedicated emergency button
    – LED flashlight which is easily operated
    – large easy to read screen
    – large easy to read and use buttons
    – Excellent battery life with quick charge
    – USB-C charging with dock

It’s a basic phone with a basic camera but it does all of the essential simple things and does them well. Perfect for somebody who wants an easy to use no frills phone that is built to last.

I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending this – good value for money – recommended!

A standout feature is the 300 hours of standby time. This impressive battery life ensures that the phone remains operational for extended periods without the need for frequent charging, which is a significant convenience.

Because my grandmother is old, it was very difficult for her to use a smartphone without screen so for this reason I have decided to get her one that is easy to use and has large buttons and because she’s using a phone mainly for calling, setting up on alarm and rarely for texting this one is a really good choice.

The phone itself is well built and also it has a very elegant black matte finish with a small screen at the front and I took my grandmother around one day to get used to it even though it is the type of phone that has to be opened in order to access the main screen and the buttons.

The battery lasts for roughly two to three days but here there is something that I wanted to mention, my grandmother is barely using it so this is the reason why she doesn’t have to charge it to often.

It is easy to press the keys which are visible in terms of fonts and literally there is no chance to press something by mistake and also the screen is bright enough to see what is displayed on it even daytime.

I see my grandmother using this phone without putting her glasses on because she told me that she can see everything clearly and also while talking on the phone she doesn’t have a problem hearing everything properly even when she is in a busy environment.

Overall, without any doubt this phone is suitable for my grandmother and she said that it is easy to use, he doesn’t take too much space in her bag and also lightweight.

A very useful flip mobile phone for someone who only want to make calls and text, being a flip phone though does make it look a bit old fashioned.
The large numbers make it perfect for visually impaired users
It has a camera facility but to be honest it’s quite poor quality, but it’s there if you need to take a quick photo, the photo can also be sent as a text.
It has a docking station for charging and the usb cable is included.
The phone has a nice feel to it and fits easily into a pocket.

4.0 out of 5 stars Looks old fashioned but useful for older users, camera is a disappointment though

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis phone looks very smart with its modern design and easy-to-read colour display making it easy and pleasant for my dad to use. The user-friendly buttons and ergonomic folding design are well thought-out. Hearing aid compatibility is particularly practical because it wears a hearing aid and the sound quality is optimal. The mobile phone does not have apps such as WhatsApp, so seniors are not overwhelmed with a variety of apps. For them, basic functions such as camera, SMS and phone calls are the most important, and the cell phone performs these tasks reliably. The hands-free function is great, with which five predefined contacts can be called hands-free in an emergency. The long battery life is also very practical for her, as she doesn’t have to charge the cell phone every day. The shockproof design makes the phone robust and durable. The camera is suitable for quick snapshots (but nothing special) and the built-in flashlight is also handy.

This phone realises its intentions on the whole. It’s android based but appears much like a dumb phone from 2003. It’s easy to navigate, the D pad providing customisable short cuts , which you or a loved one can setup easily. The large rubberised buttons are easy to see, there are direct buttons for speed dial / favourite numbers, also a direct camera button. The camera sadly being pretty terrible, see pics. Also you have a contextual options button to the left and a back button to the right, the D pad in the centre.
The screen is clear , if slightly low Rez , the speaker distorts at max volume but gets better around ‘7’ for most ringtones and alerts. There is an emergency button on the back that can be customised to call a loved one , send out alerts and a long press will also sound an alarm.
Included is a dock , usb C to C lead (you will supply the usb power plug or device) a wired head set and a battery. You will need a micro sim , which are pretty standard these days and there is a micro SD card slot too, although I’m not sure you’ll need much memory. I don’t think you can record video.
You can access onboard memory via a computer or tablet by using the usb C lead, the phone asks whether you want it to charge from a device or use it as a usb device , as a device you can then access its folder system. Of course you can ignore all this but it’s useful for backing up pictures etc.
There’s no internet browser or App Store , things are kept simple here, but I was able to get a 4g connection.
Overall it’s a simple phone that focuses usability, yet has some useful features such as the emergency button and shorts cuts. It’s easy to hold and call quality is crisp. At just under eighty pounds I can recommend it to anybody needing an accessible phone without the extras.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great phone , easy to use , useful shortcuts , poor camera , good customisable emergency butto

I have been using this item to make calls and stay connected on the go.

    Pros:
    * Setting up this phone was a breeze. It’s user-friendly and straightforward.
    * The 4G connection ensures I have a fast and reliable connection wherever I am.
    * The clamshell design not only looks unique but also protects the phone’s screen from scratches and damage.

    Cons:
    *
The camera quality is not the best at 1.2 megapixels, so don’t expect high-quality photos.

In conclusion, the Panasonic 4G Essentials Clamshell Mobile Phone is a great choice if you need a simple and reliable phone for calls and basic internet use. Just keep in mind that the camera quality is not the best, but if that’s not a priority for you, this phone is a solid option.
