The price is decent for what you get, at 90, frequently discounted 10% or more.
I would definitely try and get it discounted, because it is not perfect.
If I could, I would rate it 3 and half stars.
So, here are a few things I would have probably liked to know before ordering and will perhaps be interesting to others:
+ Positive
The projector native resolution is 1080 as promised.
While not tiny, it is quite small.
The fan is quiet and not obtrusive.
While not high quality, the speakers are ok.
I tried a bluetooth speaker with it and it worked ok without too much latency (the delay between something happening on screen and the corresponding sound coming though the speakers).
It has an audio output (but it is a bit noisy).
– Negative
The colours are not great and even fiddling with the settings, I could not get them to look great.
The dynamic range is limited, so deep shadows do not look great and highlights can be too white with little detail in them.
While it comes with keystone adjustments, to correct the shape of the projection and make it square, the focus does not work well at all unless you place the projector point perfectly perpendicular to the screen or wall.
If you point it slightly up or down, or at an angle, part of the projection will be out of focus, the focus control will not achieve perfect focus, it really needs to be pointed flat to the screen to work fine.
The 12,000 Lumens claim is bogus. It is not that luminous at all, particularly if projecting at more than 2 meters distance from the screen. So to achieve a good result with a relatively large projection, you will need the room to be quite dark and the image will be a bit dim anyway.
Does it hold a candle to my high end projector?
Not at all.
But then it costs 5 times less, so fair enough. My first projector, years ago, costed a little bit more than this, the image was better but it was extremely noisy, while this one is quiet.
So, I think it is a decent option as a first projector, for the price, or if you need something relatively portable for presentations and similar (with the caveat that the image will look washed out unless the room is dark, and it really needs to be projecting dead on flat for the image to be well defined and focused).
That is something that you can solve quite easily and for the price i believe this is a really decent little projector. That being said i don’t really have much to compare it to but i do really like having the option to pull this out for films.
I have not used it for anything other than that and to be honest i don’t think i ever would so i would say this could be better but i am happy with it.
The picture was very clear though slightly cold/blue. Fan was quiet enough and not an issue. Better quality than most in this price range (I tried 8 projectors). However the audio jack had a high noise level present on it. Bluetooth was okay though
Pros:
1- This is an economical, user and budget-friendly projector that works great. It is very easy to use and navigate.
2- Its compact size makes it suitable for both indoor and outdoor events.
3- The picture quality of this projector is fine for general use, such as watching movies or video clips, and presentation slides. It is clear enough for basic use.
4- I really appreciate the inclusion of video clips with instructions on how to clean the lenses and other important features.
5- The remote control is a good addition. It has all the necessary options.
6- The price is really good in relation to the quality.
Cons:
1- Although the speaker’s sound is audible, it’s only decent. You’ll need an external speaker for higher sound quality.
2- Depending on how you want to use it, but it requires adjustments at angles for better and clearer image projection.
3- I use this projector for basic videos and slide presentations, and the picture quality and brightness are good. However, for uses like gaming and more image-intensive creative and art shows, the picture quality may not be suitable and is not comparable to professional and expensive projectors.
I keep buying small projectors in the hope that one will turn out to be actually usable, and so far I’ve returned all but one. I’m happy to report this is one of the better ones, but you do need to go into it with realistic expectations.
Firstly, ignore the 12000 lumen claim. There are “lumens” and there are “ANSI lumens”. Manufacturers of “proper” projectors quote ANSI lumens because it’s a standard that gives you a reasonable idea of how bright it will be in reality. Non-ANSI lumens are, on the other hand, almost meaningless and that’s what’s being quoted here. The real brightness is much lower than most traditional lamp-based projectors. That said, it’s still very usable in a dark room. Turn the lights off, close the curtains and you get quite a nice image.
It’s a bit washed out and dull looking compared to more expensive units, but it’s absolutely usable. The native 1080p resolution is good and sets it apart from those with lower resolution panels in terms of clarity.
It needs to be positioned carefully to get the best result, which means getting it dead square to the screen and at the right height to avoid a stretched image.
If you get those things right, and keep your expectations sensible, it’s a nice unit as a first projector.
I’m thinking of using it to project a ghost effect onto a window for Halloween!
The AKIYO 5G WiFi Bluetooth Projector is a great all round projector for home theater, gaming, and presentations. It feels fairly durable for moving around, its easy to use and produces a decent clear and bright image. It is also relatively affordable, making it a good value for the price.
The projector produces a clear and bright image with native Full HD 1080P resolution and 12000 lumens of brightness and supports 4K input and a variety of connection options, including HDMI, USB, and WiFi.
Finally its compatible with a wide range of devices, including smartphones, tablets, laptops, and PCs. All tested and worked without any issues. Recommended.
Cheap projectors, in my experience, tend to be awful. The quality is grainy, the sound is tinny, they can’t cast a clear signal – really, more a novelty than a useful tool. Nonetheless, I keep trying to find a good one because as a teacher it’s an invaluable piece of emergency equipment for when I’m assigned a classroom without, for example, a projector. It’s never been worth the trouble though. This though is a nice little piece of spot repair in a timetable – I wouldn’t want to use it in a circumstance where I needed a high definition display, but it’s beyond ample for powerpoints and a few illustrative YOutube videos. I probably wouldn’t want to show Blue Planet on it, but you get what you pay fo
