I’m not actually using this for mounting an action camera on anything moving like a motorbike or bicycle but I can see how the design is set up for that. The ball joints are not the style you’ll get in a normal tripod where you just move them around and the camera stays pointing where you put it.

Instead, you undo the clamp enough to loosen it, and then position your camera, then tighten that clamp. There are two ball joints, one next to the mount, one next to the camera. They have knurling on the ball, so there’s plenty of purchase for the clamp to keep the joint from moving, which would be really important on a rapidly vibrating thing like a motorbike. Two ball joints gives you a lot of freedom to set up the correct angle.

The clamp you use to attach it to a bar or or really anything you can realistically get a grip on (such as a table edge) opens nice and wide, as per the pictures and is easily adjusted.

We’re going to use this in the garden to mount a wildlife camera, so that passing creatures can leave a nice shot of their back legs as they move past too quickly or something. There’s lots of mounts for those cameras that require you to screw a plate into a fence post or tree, this is less damaging and more easily moved. Hopefully the camera will finally capture some nice photos.

I think you’d have a job dislodging this once it’s properly adjusted and tightened, and it’ll easily fit on my bike or any similar sized tubing. If the form factor fits your use case, and the camera you want to mount has standard fittings, I think you’ll be happy with this. Because you’ve got the standard mounting point, you could potentially accessorise it with all sorts of equipment. They do mention attaching it to light stands, or tables for instance. If you needed to clamp to a bookcase or shelf, it could handle that, I’m sure.
