These adapters come in a resealable plastic bag
Design: The design feels reactively solid with a mostly aluminium chassis, the bottom of the adapter is plastic with a hole that an elasticated thread is looped round. The thread can be secured easily to any cable.
Testing: I tested this on a windows laptop (my fastest charging device). Testing with official Apple and non-official lightning cables I was able to get around 55 Watts. With higher rated cables it can charge at 60W. While not 60W 55W isn’t too far off.
Final thoughts: I like this adapter. It’s a great way to repurpose existing lightning cables as we move to a USB-C only world. Or if you want to reduce clutter by having less cables.
However with all these types of adapters it is better value to but dedicated USB-C cables for less. But if you really want to reduce clutter/ the number of cable you use or have OCD these adapters are ideal!
I got these because I have an iPhone lightning cable running under the carpets and plastics in the car up to the charging point. Recently I put a magnetic holder in the car with mag safe charging but it needs power from a USB C connection.
This solved that issue without me having to remove the existing cable (a good hours work).
It also means that I can let others charge their phone in the car when I’m not using the charger.
Pleased with this nice find.
