We bought these as Christmas gifts for our field computer technicians, who now use them everyday at work and at home.
They have no complaints. Reports are they have all the tools needed to service modern teaching you know what you are doing.
Great screwdriver set with plenty of bits to attach to open loads of different devices. Comes with a magnetic strip to secure your screws so they’re not loose everywhere. Comes in a storage box that closes securely ensuring the bits don’t get lost or fall out.
Really handy set, contains every screwdriver tip I have needed so far. Quality is good for occasional use, and fine for the low cost. I’m not so keen on the double sided case, would have preferred a larger single sided one, but not really a problem.
I brought this for my partner at Xmas and I didn’t know how chuffed he was to get a part he needed which was in this. He likes doing electrical bit’s and was well impressed with the small parts in this set. Very handy to have. Glad I got i
Excellent Screwdriver Kit with Accessories doesn’t necessarily replace singular screwdrivers entirely. Depends on difficulties of reaching screw fixings the flexi-drive is interesting but only up to a point. Not much good if your delicates are left in tatters or in a miriad of pieces. Depending on what the difficulty was requiring that particular tool. Never the less could use individual screwdriver bits to gauge screw fixings or work out suitable drive-head types. Thats to say if per chance an additional one piece screwdrivers of one description or another were ever needed at some point. Anyway a reasonable Precision Srewdriver Kit with Accessories.
Needed a one for all screwdriver set, seen this and ordered.. wish I’d read it properly
All of the pieces are absolutely tiny but I’m sure it’ll come in handy at some point.. great if you like messing with mobile phones or fixing your glasses
It might just be me but I was expecting a bit more with this product. Hands up, iv’e not used it yet but it seems very flimsy. Also a bit deceiving regarding the pics. Looking at them, you’d think that it was a case of sorts but its not. its double sided.
If like me you are looking for a neat kit to take apart an iphone, dont make the mistake I did and check which screw you need! The kit had all the bits i needed to open the screen but once inside most of the screws are a Y00 tri-wing head which this set only goes as small as 0.6. Im sure itll be usefull enough for alot of small tasks but for me I now have to order another items as the bit needed wasnt 1 of the 134 in the box!
Small and compact, you can throw this into a bag quite easily to take with you should you need to travel with the kit. The latch is sturdy enough that it has not opened yet leaving behind a mess of parts at the bottom of my bag.
Choice is the biggest strength, with Phillips head and flat head drivers to be expected, it also includes torx, triangular and even the pentalobe drivers. With a handy magnet to magnetise your pieces you significantly reduce the risk of losing screws, especially as you’d usually be dealing with relative tiny parts. The mat, though magnetised, was not of as much use, the one I received was somewhat warped in it’s packaging and therefore does not sit flat on a desk. Even after laying it flat and weighing it down overnight.
The spudgers are sufficiently soft plastic so you don’t risk damaging your device, perhaps a little too soft for the strong adhesive used these days, but that’s hardly a drawback for a kit this well equipped for such a low price. Ratchet action on the main driver feels reliable and has a satisfyingly loud clicking mechanism which is always reassuring. I did lubricate the rotary swivel cap to reduce wear and increase longevity, I’d recommend it.
Overall feels like a sturdy product, if it lasts longer than a year I’d say it’s earnt it’s keep for the price (~16 at time of writing). I would feel confident buying a bigger set from this brand in the future based on this experience.
The kit itself is perfectly acceptable. That said, the plastic openers are not the sturdiest you’ll ever use, with some fraying around the edges of the plectrum openers, and one of the plastic spudgers, after one use. That said, it’s nothing that makes them unusable, and at this price you wouldn’t expect much more. Bits are OK, but again, I wouldn’t want to use them for anything strenuous – but then, if you’re using this for laptops and computers it’s not like you should be coming up against anything which requires too much force.
The flexible add-on shaft is definitely helpful, although it would be also useful to have a thinner extension for those screws which are sunk into recesses.
The magnetic screw mat is pretty useful too, particulary as it’s laid out in a grid, which makes putting your screws in the right layout for return easy. Be aware though that it’s not super magnetic and knocking any screws on it will knock them out of place, or even off the map, so best to have it out of the way.
The screwdriver itself if perfectly functional and gives decent grip when in use.
All in all, this is a perfectly functional set if you’re doing the odd repair / teardown / replacement job. Maybe not a purchase if you’re doing repairs of this type for a business, where you’d be using them constantly every day, but completely acceptable for the hobbyist. Quite happy to have these in the tool box along with my other PC parts tools.
Actually, the only thing that I think could have been included, although it would have raised the price a little, is an anti-static wrist strap. You likely would never need one, given tolerances and build quality of modern pc / phone / etc parts. but it’s always better safe than sorry
This set is great, I love the magnetic mat that helps keep the screws visible and in one place. The choice of tips is well covered, giving 2x of the most popular ones. Getting into my Iphone 8 was relatively straight forward with a few youtube tips and the suction cup to lift an edge first. The other plastic tools worked great to prise off the screen and start poking around. Unfortunately for this phone it was truly a gonner but this set tool set will live with me for many years.
I’ve also managed to take apart a Samsung tablet with a dodgy battery connection and fix an issue with it randomly turning off. Just shows that the right tools make all the difference.
BTW, the main driver handle is good in the hand, light but sturdy, with good rubberised grip areas making the fine work a bit easier as you can really feel the engagement with what you are doing. Now I just need better eyes to see the teeny tiny bits and pieces!
I can see why it’s reviewed so well after recieving it, It comes with every little tool for every eventuality you’d need all compact in one little box. So far I’ve managed to repair my scratched Iphone camera, after watching a lot of tutorials & change the sim. The matt came in really handy for organising all the tiny screws in order of which I took out first to last. Also fixed my dehumidifier with a clogged filter, most scary of all ( it was a success in the end ) Open up an old faulty hard drive and fix the heads to be in in-line with the disc recovering a lot of old documents I thought were a goner.
The driver that holds the screw heads itself feels a little cheap and lightweight, but it does the job perfectly. The comes in really handy at getting to those screws that are around really awkward angles and are hard to get to. I haven’t figured out just yet what the blue plastic pieces are for, I’ll read the manual later to figure out what they’re designed for. Such a bargain for the amount of repairs possible with this set, a perfect buy and I’d suggest it highly to all.
I already used it to disassemble 2 laptops for cleaning/maintenance. (a 2009 HP laptop and a 2013 macbook pro)
The screwdriver handle is very comfortable: rubberised/studded, very good shape. The handle’s end is freely rotating if you prefer pushing against it with your palm. It holds the head with quite strong magnetic force and the magnetism is enough to lift the tiny screws from the holes.
The box is tightly packed and organised quite well. I like how much space it saves. However, there is some room for improvement when it comes to the box, this is the reason for the minus one star:
One side of the box (the one that holds the screwdriver handle) could be opened by applying almost zero force. The other side (holding the heads) worked well (closed tightly). The reason: that side of the box (without the cover) was about 1.5mm narrower than the other side (at the middle section where the lock is located). I fixed this by heating the plastic and pushing it with fingers/tools. The result is somewhat ugly (due to deformities caused by melting – I never worked with plastic) but now the box closes tightly enough, although somewhat clumsier than the other side that worked well from the beginning. This might be a quality control issue and the same problem might not affect every unit. I’m still very happy with my kit after “hotfixing” its box. The issue could be avoided altogether by using some other well known locking mechanisms but that would mean manufacturing 1 more moving part for the box.
The memory mat is a nice/useful extra that doesn’t come with some other very similar kits.
