I buy all the HeroQuest stuff as it comes out as its easier to buy these and have a heap of minis to choose from than to buy actual D&D mini brick packs and hope you get anything decent. Its great that the HerQuest stuff is the same size as the D&D stuff… And then when we get tired of playing D&D, we can turn around and play the actual HeroQuest adventures… Its win, win!
Another top expansion to add to the collection.
The miniatures as expected are top quality sculpts and secondary sculpts of the original minis. Card stock as always is top quality and the presentation in the new foiled boxing looks really well.
This is a good expansion for the Hero Quest base game. The new Bard hero is fun to play. The story is good too and adds some variety to the game. I appreciate that it’s not like the original expansions that had crazy amounts of enemies per room. There is good strategy and elements that will keep you guessing what’s going to happen next.
Please read my review of The Prophecy of Telor (PoT). My thoughts pretty much mirror that Quest Pack. You get a different hero (the Bard), and instead of a Gargoyle mini you get the Spirit Queen mini. Also, the miniatures and dice colors are translucent blue in this Quest Pack instead of translucent orange. I haven’t played this yet so I’m not going to rate the quality of the Quests themselves. I didn’t rate the Prophecy of Telor (PoT) quests either. If you are a fan of HeroQuest, you’re going to play through the pack regardless of what anyone says about the quests themselves. The Quest Pack is worth the price as was PoT. I will add one thing I should have put in my PoT review. The line by Hasbro/Pulse that these Quest Packs have, “Limitless Replayability” is misleading. The game does allow for a group of players to get together and play “player-created” quests which would result in limitless replayability. However, once you play through Spirit Queen’s Torment (SQT) or any quest pack/expansion, the rooms, treasure and enemies won’t be any different if you play it again.
