Bought as a gift for a family member, thought this would be great as used to have them when I was younger. Has changed since then however, the same great gameplay loop exists and the product is of good quality.
11 yo loves it, seen them in Turning Red. I didn’t have one when they first came out. Last about two weeks and then reset. Best only in school holidays or you’ll end up babysitting one at work (difficult to explain). Good fun.
Very nice shell. The case that comes with it is also very nice.
The tamagotchi is Gen1 so chances are, if you already have tamagotchi’s you’ll just be buying this for the different shell design.
The case it comes with is really nice and personally will be using it my older devices.
Overall very nice to have with your collection.
Getting the Tamagotchi is like being a kid again back in the 90s and the “stress” of making sure your Tamagotchi is fed, clean and happy to see how old you can get your Tamagotchi is real!
It really has taken me back to being 12/13 years old with my first Tamagotchi. Thinking of getting one for my sister at some point, as she didn’t get to enjoy her Tamagotchi for long as she lost hers on a plane coming home from vacation (that’s when we got them cuz they were 10 back in ’97) But this Tamagotchi is the real deal!
Only downside to is is there is no backlight so if you’re in a dark area, you’ll need a flashlight or some sort of light to still play. I remember when I was in the car as a kid, I had the same problem waiting for lights to come by the car so I can see how my Tamagotchi is getting on.
Other than that, it’s GREAT!
Bought one for my 4yo daughter for Christmas and it’s exactly how I remember having one when I was younger!
We turned it on straight away and it was quite needy and I was worried it would get annoying but turns out it was good as she wanted to play with it lots to start with. It does settle down and doesn’t need as much ‘care’ after it evolves and grows up.
The controls are simple and easy to use and my 4yo got the hang of it really quickly.
Only down side is that it can be a bit hard to see the picture in some lights.
My 8 year old son asked his dad and l for a new pet for Xmas so, l decided to buy him a virtual one that he can play with, look after and take anywhere with him. I looked and found this brilliant tamagotchi on Baker’s Box, what a fantastic buy, hours of fun and play. It arrived on time for Christmas aa specified and it’s a great gift for anyone at any age.
It’s a traditional style tamagotchi. The same demanding little keyring it always was lol. I bought it know this and my daughter loves it. Easy to use, and the really good thing is it now sleeps at night until 9am so you don’t need to worry about it getting all demanding in the night (I don’t remember the 1980’s ones doing this so that’s a big upgrade)
It’s a good little toy for kids wanting virtual pets
I purchased a Generation One and Generation Two re-release Tamagotchi for myself, and I’m in love. There are pros and cons to each – without my first generation, I wouldn’t have figured out the difference between food and snacks, for example – but I’ve found the buttons and overall quality of the unit is much better on this one.
Whilst it won’t change your life, I’ve found it fun to check in on my little friends, and so far – touch wood – this Tamagotchi hasn’t died. Fingers crossed, it stays that way for a little longer.
I brought the mermaid type and loved it like my old connection one I had as a kid. Shame they still haven’t brought that type out as that was the best one.
My partner brought me the yellow one about 2 years ago which I started up today along with my new mermaid one and it’s just my childhood brought back too me.
Only downside is it doesn’t beep when it has poop or when it needs medicine. It waits till last minute to beep then u can’t do nothing about it but watch it die.
So the first few days you have to look at it at least every 15-20 mins to make sure it’s ok.
You can put it in silent which I didn’t know u could when I was younger. Press the first button and the last button at the same time it makes a beep noise then it’s silent. It’s been a life saver since I found that out.
The screen is a little dark. But part from that it’s how I remembered and I love the simple ness of it all. I can feel the temptation of buying all the colors i love.
This along with the gameboy and Nintendo was the best invention back when I was a kid and always will be.
It’s an original tamagotchi exactly how you remember it.
I think it’s so awesome of Bandai to re-released the original tamagotchi and have so many designs to choose from.
It really takes me back to the 2000s when products had many color and design options to fit your own personal style.
I really miss that period of design history.
I really love the moon and shooting stars design definitely my favourite and fits my style, I’m very happy I chose this one.
I would love if Bandai would re-release the tamagotchi connect as that’s the one I grew up with and I’d love to have multiple to connect with each other but I suppose we will have to wait and see.
Overall this is a really cool piece of history and I’m so happy to see it still get some love over 20 years late
The design is cute and looks as described. It came in original packaging and turned on without problems. The manual is available in many languages to help you set it up. Keep in mind, though, this is a remake of the original tamagotchi and not the wide-spread Tamagotchi Connection that so many of us remember. It only comes with one mini-game (higher or lower) so it can get pretty boring pretty quick. I recommend getting this as a casual game to keep on your keychain or to play with on-and-off during the day rather than a serious gaming device.
It was a nice nostalgia trip to when I had virtual pets growing up. However now the Tamagotchi seems very small? Unless it’s just a perspective thing and they are the same size as back then. The buttons are okay – at times they are a but finicky but as a little toy, it’s pretty cute. Having no back-light to see when it is dark is annoying however understandable.
After a conversation with friends about the nostalgic 90s toys of our childhoods, I had a search around to see if tamagotchi pets were still being made… And to my delight I found this! I had a very similar white virtual tamagotchi game as a kid, with characters around the edge just like this model! I couldn’t resist and I treated myself. My tamagotchi arrived today and I’ve been enjoying an evening of nostalgic fun, it’s just like I remember! It seems well made anf nice quality, I really hope it lasts!
At risk of sounding like everyone else here, but this really is a blast from the past. It’s identical to my original I had in school growing up, it brings back some great memories. I see so many people buying them for their kids, I bought mine for me so I’m just a big kid apparently! If you want to relive your childhood again, I’d strongly recommend
I saw this and couldn’t resist, especially as I was talking to a friend about these a few weeks earlier. Back then these were the cutting edge of toy technology. If your reminiscing about the good old days of the 1990s then get one of these 2nd Gen Tamagotchsis’. I’m sure todays children will have a go and be bored within about a minute, but if your like me this still provides an adequate amount of joy. Be aware, this is a electronic pet also, needs love, food and cleaning at all times 24/7.
