Nice and fast, pretty much maxing out 10gbps bandwidth in a sabrent usb-c enclosure. Fantastic price. What more can you say on a first impression? Time will tell if it holds up but so far so good.
This was easy to install with the heatshield on my current mobo replacing the screws they supplied, windows Starts-up now in less the a blink of a eye. No complaints here.
Not the most performant of SSD’s but certainly good for a non-gaming laptop or desktop. if you’re coming from a spinning rust disk, an NVMe drive will feel like a rocket ship regardless of the relative performance. This will also easily outperform a SATA SSD in virtually all tasks (as long as it’s installed in a dedicated NVMe slot. if it’s in a SATA to NVMe adapter you’ll only get SATA performance.)
Stick your OS on this and don’t look back – Installation is super easy (with an existing slot)
Very happy with this. The speeds aren’t as good as some competitors but for the price, this is an excellent secondary drive with fantastic levels of storage. I have three of these all filled with game installations – they are written to when installing the games and rarely written to again after that.
Purchased to replace my 512gb before the price rises. Was fun to fit. More so as the graphics card had to be removed to give enough space for my hands, but that is probably fairly unique to my motherboard. Fast and gives me plenty of space for installing games.
Accepted by computer fine. Did have one failure where it wiped 95% of the contents I’d put on (about 3.75Tb), but this was backed up, so I’ve put that back on and all seems fine. It may or may not have been the drive, but as I’m using this as working storage as opposed to back up, it’s quick enough for what I want.
Got it to use as my off-site back-up of my back-ups for which it works perfectly.
Liked it so much got the 4Gb version for my portable copy of my media library.
Happy with this though had to connect the caddy I bought to house this disk in to a Apple Mac and then used the Disk Utility to erase then format the disk as FAT. Then used happily with my iPhone 15 Pro and Windows machine. Maybe interesting to someone. Because the disk wasn’t recognized by the iPhone immediately without taking this action. Happy with the product.

The SSD Discs are great – very fast and east to fit (but please check that your computer can accommodate to 4Tb version). My Dell XPS 9560 couldn’t handle it as the boot disc despite what the Crucial Site implies.
But I really don’t like the cloning software that requires changes to the BIOS – not really difficult but a hassle. I used Macrium Reflect and found that quick, easy and effective. Of course, there are other cloning options available.
I’ve bought he Crucial P3 4TB Acronis for use in an external drive enclosure and I’m connecting through USB-C.
The enclosure I’m using is the Ugreen SSD enclosure.
Took about 2 minutes to assemble. No need even for a screwdriver.
Both drive and enclosure are working fine together. I’ve transferred 2.5GB of RAW images from mt external HDD which I’ll retain as a backup.
The NVME drive barely got warm during the file transfer. I can now scroll through my Lightroom catalogue with no obvious lag. Photos just open in the develop module the instant I click on them.
Connecting to an iMac via USB-C, Blackmagic speed test is giving write speeds of between 250 and 950 GB/s with similar read speeds. The limiting factor on my system will be the Ugreen enclosure. You will get rather faster than that with a Thunderbolt enclosure (my internal disk is showing a write speed up to 2500GB/s).
Bottom line is you will get faster by spending more on a Thunderbolt enclosure, but as is, it’s 10x+ faster than working from my external HDD via USB 3 and Lightroom is suddenly much more usable.
1 TB drive bought to replace my the 512GB NMe drive that originally shipped with my laptop. Drive comes with a link to download Acronis cloning software. I also bought a Sabrent M2 USB enclosure to house the old drive in order to make the clone. I initially started doing things the wrong way.round by putting the new drive in the USB enclosure and attempting to clone the old drive whilst it was still live in the laptop. It seemed to be showing a huge clone time so I googled it and found I was doing things the wrong way.. so I put the new drive into the laptop and the old drive into the USB enclosure having first made a bootable USB flash drive using the Acronis software before removing the old drive. I then changed the boot order in the laptop BIOS to boot off the flash and it booted straight into the Acronis software which allowed me to select the target drive and then format the drive to be cloned. The software showed around an hour and a half clone time which didn’t really seem to be diminishing.. but eventually after 2 hours ish the laptop rebooted automatically and all was okay. I still have the old 512 drive just in case something happens ..so far very happy.
Brought this Cruical P3 2TB SSD storage for my PC, mainly for the issues starfield brought to most of us, but have since used it for other games.
Arrived quickly although in possibly less packaging than I would have liked for such a delicate piece of hardware, the hard plastic casing was ok, just a little more would have been nice for piece of mind.
Installing the SSD was easy, making sure your pc is on it’s side as this makes it a lot easier to mount and secure it straight to the motherboard. Especially if like me there is a graphics card and power supply in the way.
Even though it is a Gen 3 it still loads games faster than I need and steam (or other game launchers) can update/ download games on to the SSD much quicker than a standard external SSD on a usb 3 connection. Games load almost instantly and there have been no issues from the SSD when playing/ loading, downloading or updating games.
Overall a great bit of kit for a great price and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a step into the SSD PCIe storage.
So far this has been an effortless purchase. Installation was relatively simple and it worked right out the box.
After quickly formatting the drive everything has been fine since.
Great capacity. Temperature seems relatively stable even under full load with approx 20c difference between idle and 100% utilisation.
Happy with the product. Will update should anything change.
Bought to upgrade the internal SSD on a Dell All-in-one desktop.
Easy to install provided that you are confident in dismantling a computer, it’s important to follow anti-static procedures.
The provided software quickly cloned the existing SSD and and following installation all was well. Boot speed is a tad faster and additional storage space is useful.
Would recommend using the Crucial website to check compatibility prior to purchase.
I’d been wanting an SSD for years but couldn’t justify the cost of a 1gb drive. But when the prime sales came up it looked more agreeable.
This is relatively easy to install and will fit into the M2 slot on your motherboard. Ignore the pci-e ports or it will be flapping in the wind ready to cause trouble. I did have to remove and refit my graphics card to fit this but that’s no huge burden and is easier than faffing with sata cables and routing.
You will have to carry out an initial format before use to prep the drive. Depending on your plans and what Operating system you are using / installing will depend on how it’s done. I was using windows 10 so went to computer management> disc management and prepared new simple drive. After formatting I then did a clean install of Windows 11 from usb stick. If you are switching from a conventional HDD to SSD you will have to go into the bios and change your boot order and a few other settings (just search YouTube for the name of your motherboard and enable SSD). There are lots of guides available. There is quite a bit of support documentation on the crucial site but it is basic and going under the idea of everything in ideal condition.. and of course your OS behaving.
I setup a partition for a few 100gb for the OS and the rest as a secondary drive for games. What a difference! My pc now boots up in seconds instead of minutes.i often click the power button on the base unit and look up to say “what? Already? That can’t be it.I was gonna go grab a cuppa.”
Stability is excellent and instead of loading things are just available. There’s no waiting or buffering.it’s just there ready. This really has made a world of difference. The only negative is that it will show you how slow your internet speeds are.
Good quality and value. highly recommend. Thank you for reading my review. I hope you found it useful
First things to get out of the way, is the fact that I’m installing this on an ROG Strix B550-F Gaming motherboard, in the second NVMe slot–which runs at PCIe 3.0 x4. All necessary BIOS updates and drivers done.
I decided to grab this NVMe because I was running low on storage, and figured it was worth grabbing another 2TB SSD, and originally I was going to go for a Crucial MX500 2TB. That is, until I noticed, at the time of purchasing this gem–it going for about 20 cheaper. It was pretty much a no brainer at that point–and so I could use the WD Blue SN570 1TB which this replaced, I grabbed a PCIe 3.0 x1 card too–but that’s not going to be a part of the this review.
Installation:
As with NVMe drive, the beauty of it, is that it’s just super easy and it feels surreal to me still that you just have this tiny cute stick you can slot in like a stick of RAM, screw it down, and away you go. But I also have the heatsink that comes with the ROG Strix B550-F Gaming sitting atop of this.
Speeds:
I’ll be throwing in benchmarks from Crystal Disk Mark, and will be comparing it to one of its 4.0 counterparts, the P5 1TB. As you can see it falls a bit short of that 3500MB/s for reads, but still pretty damn close, and slightly better than the advertised writes. But if you have some kind of RAM Disk or RAM caching software such as ASUS’ RAMCache III–that’s going to give you a bit of a boost.
Not the fastest PCIe 3.0 NVMe out there, possibly the second or third. But it’s still a snappy drive, and worth the pennies.
